Jewel was great!!! The lighting, Steve, Jewel, the band and the picture pefect tv screen in the background was perfect. I have to say this was spectacular. JEWEL'S PERFORMANCE: I already knew her setlist and her band were already trained in a certain way to her songs so my dream setlist was out of the question. but I was hoping she would sneak atleast one of the songs I was hoping for. My setlist included Carnivore, 1,000 miles away, emily, and cold song. SHE ENED UP SINGING COLD SONG!!! Yeah!!!!!! WWSYS was great, even though it took like 15 mintues to finish. The guy on the piano was great during barcelona and foolish games. Steve was awesome on the acoustic guitar. Love me just leave me alone was good. Jewel always plays Down at the shows I go to but never hardly ever mentions about it. Or anybody on the list. Chime bells on the encore was great. I satarted yelling "Faster, faster" when she first yodeled. The people around me were looking at me like i was an idiot. Then Jewel a few lines later said"should i go faster?" Only a true Jewel fan would know to say faster during chime bells. THE STORIES: she gave us a preview of jupiter. She told us about her two days of the shoot then coming in to Dallas late Thursday night and yet partied with Steve and the band in downtown Dallas. She told us why she remixed Jupiter because she got sick of it in europe. She made jokes of her interview in Germany. but the best Jewel quote has got to be when she said: "I'm from alaska." Crowd goes nuts. "Alaska and Texas are the two god damn biggest states!" Crowd goes even more crazier. "why are we so pourd of it?" Come on Texas!!!!! Steve talk about how big D was better than buffalo including, a song he sung about a chair which pointed out a chair is a place where Dallas can hold their Stanley Cup. Her setlist: this is all i can remeber, my mind's so fuzzy right now: Near you always Deep Water What's simple is true Hands Morning song you were meant for me innoncence maintain cold song barcelona a life uncommon foolish games grey matter a new song she didn't tell us the name Jupiter down love me just leave me alone Down so Long who will save your soul encore: absence of fear chime bells i might of left a few songs off and some are not in order. I can't wait to see her again!!! With the concert less than 2 weeks away i decided that now would be a good time to talk about the pre-concert picnic plans. I have already told some of you about it but now i will go into more detail and update those who have not heard anything about it yet. I am trying to get together a picnic on the lawn outside before the concert at around 630 for all of us EDAs to get to know each other and have a good time before seeing what should be one of the best concerts we have seen! We can get the group together and everyone should bring food of some sort and we can have a nice gathering because i know that there are many people on this list who are going. As well, many of you know that there is a food drive at the concert. I want us NJ EDAs and all EDAs going to the concert to show what being an EDA is. It would be great if everyone coming to the pre concert gathering would bring between 3-5 cans of food. I personally am going to bring 5 and so is my friend who is coming with me, but who isnt an EDA (maybe we can get her to join after finding out what a great group we all are :). If we can all bring 5 cans, put them in one huge bag, and then hand it in together at the front as a joint effort by the EDAs at the concert, I think it would be great and we would all feel better about ourselves and proud what we have accomplished as a group! Could you imagine if we got close to 100 cans just from 20 EDAs at one concert?!?! Could you imagine what a difference it would make? I hope that you will all participate. Also, so we can recognize each other, i suggest that we wear EDA shirts...i just received mine and I LOVE it. Rich did a great job and i am really proud to own one and wear it. Don't fret if you dont have one though. For everyone that is coming and doesnt have a shirt, just wear either a navy blue or royal blue shirt so we all know who we are and then when everyone comes they will just flock towards the blue people! :) I hope that everyone is as excited about this as i am and is looking forward to this as much as i am. I hope to speak to you all soon and meet you all soon. If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints feel free to post an email to the list or email me personally at MiStiCBuRn@aol.com. well, we need to get the kiss fm's of our respective cities to play jupiter, or whatever new jewel stuff comes along. i know some of you will say that we shouldn't "sell jewel out" by attracting the teeny-bopper crowd. i also know some of you will speak from denial about the need to try this avenue. i am spaeking now to the people like me who call in to radio stations and don't get their requests honored. i am speaking to the people like me who want to continue to see jewel put out new stuff. it seems that, no matter how favored she is on mtv or vh1, it is not reflected on the charts. while this is not of paramount importance, it is her lifeblood. i don't know the ins and outs of recording contracts, but it seems that so many stars are put out to pasture before they have reached their prime if their album-selling momentum appears to be weakening. look at alanis morisette - - what happened to the follow-ups to thank u? i don't want jewel to be retired before every single person interested gets to be touched by a song like barcelona or life uncommon. i took a friend to the concert here in dallas last night who is not an eda, and who would never have considered such a thing before seeing jewel perform. she came with me because we are frineds, and because she kinda liked hands. when jewel sang barcelona, my friend cried. when jewel sang life uncommon my friend cheered. this morning my friend went and bought some expensive homemade angelfood from some used cd-store because she didn't know any better. that is one convert. there could be so many more. that's what i want. i have started requesting jupiter with kiss fm, and i haven't quit requesting it with mix. i'm doing something that i hope will satisfy my selfish need for more jewel! anyway, thanks for reading! later... sam <*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*> <*> Sam Megally <*> <*> Finance Major * Cox School of Business <*> <*> Pre-Medical Student * Dedman College <*> <*> President * Alpha Phi Omega <*> <*> Home Telephone: (817)265-1919 <*> <*> Cell Phone: (817)996-4352 <*> <*> Pager: (817)901-1647 <*> <*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*> ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Jul 1999 01:16:22 -0700 From: Diana Ruiz Subject: * Re: Acoustic Cafe: Jewel audio file on a website Hey guys... Roel, while being a European EDA I can understand your point of view, I also understand why the JewelJK guys can't send us a sticker - they'll be spending so much money on just the postage, wouldn't they? It's OK just sending it in North America - it's not all that much money - but I've noticed that when I send stuff over to the US, it costs at least twice as much as it does just sending it to somewhere in Europe.
