Hi, um, I have only benn to there once, and I was wondering some stuff about it, if you would reply, I'd be so happy, well, what I was wondering was.... Do they let you in with cameras? Not like camcorder stuff, but just to take pictures.... And, do they let you take casette tape recorders in?... And, do you think there's any chance that those of us who are going to the Houston EDA gathering will be able to get in to see Jewel backstage like some EDAs have in the past? Just some stuff I want to know =) The Silent Angel Sunyoung I'm not being too silent today, hmm.... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Jun 1999 21:58:28 -0500 From: jewelseda@mindspring.com Subject: * EDA T-Shirt UPDATE!!! Hey Everyone, Well everything has gone according to plan and the shirts are being made in LARGE quantities as we speak. When i made the order and got a bill for over $1000 dollars i was surprised to see just how much it would all cost, that was an awful lot of money but i certainly had it all. :O I will be picking up the shirts from the company on the 2nd of July which is 2 days later than i would have liked to pick them up...but everyone is going to just have to deal with that (hehehe). Ok so I will start packaging them up the day i get them and start sending them out the next day using US Priority Mail. Those of you that got your payments in early are sure to get a shirt soon after the 4th of july weekend. I do however have over 90 shirts to send out if not more so those of you that got your payments to me around the last days may not be get your shirt till the later part of July. I will be trying VERY hard to make it so that i have mailed all the shirts by the second week of July. Ok so that is about it for now except one more small thing.... Not very many people ordered the XXX-Large shirts but those of you that did i have some news for you. All the other size shirts are "Navy Blue" in color but that color was not available in the XXXL. So for JUST the XXXL size the color of the shirt is more of a "Royal Blue" color, which in my opinion almost looks better than the darker color but i hope you all can deal with that since the order has already been made and there isnt a thing i can do about it now :-) Thanks Rich Long Project Leader ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jun 1999 06:10:56 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: * Jewel AOL chat TONIGHT / Atlantic Records - Digital Spew #88 Reminder - Jewel chats with AOLers TONIGHT! Jewel has added a number of dates to the upcoming tour, which will hit major amphitheaters and arenas across the country (check out the Tour Database on the Atlantic site for a complete itinerary). The shows, highlighted by a July 25th performance at Woodstock '99, will mark Jewel's first domestic tour since the summer of 1997. In related news, VH1 has just announced that Jewel will be their Artist Of The Month for August -- a celebration which will kick off with the August 1st premier of Jewel's "Storytellers" performance! You can also count on seeing quite a bit of Jewel's upcoming new video for "Jupiter (Swallow The Moon)", the third single from her smash album "SPIRIT" (Go to the Atlantic site to check out a RealAudio Clip). Also, don't miss Jewel performing an outdoor concert for "The Today Show" on July 23rd. http://www.atlantic-records.com/jewel http://www.jewel-web.com *MB20'S ROB THOMAS AND CARLOS SANTANA ON LENO, TONIGHT, JUNE 24TH* Matchbox20 frontman Rob Thomas will join classic rock legend and bona-fide guitar god Carlos Santana on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," tonight, June 24th. They will be performing "Smooth," the Thomas-penned first single from Santana's upcoming album. Matchbox20 are getting set to enter the studio in July to begin recording the follow up to their eight-times-platinum smash debut "YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU." Meanwhile, last Tuesday, June 22nd saw the release of "MATCHBOX20 FROM AUSTRALIA," the Orlando, Florida-based band's first full-length video which follows the band through their sold-out 1998 tour of Oz, and features electrifying performances of their hit singles "Push," "3am," "Real World," and the current smash, "Back 2 Good." In addition to the never-before-seen backstage footage, other highlights include exclusive Matchbox20 renditions of Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U," Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time," and the Beatles' "Don't Let Me Down," as well as! the band's new "u & i & i." http://www.atlantic-records.com/matchbox_20 *UBL "BAND OF THE WEEK" EDWIN MCCAIN HOSTS VH1'S "BACK2BACK VIDEOS" JUNE 28TH* Edwin McCain is The Ultimate Band List's "Band of the Week" -- log on at www.ubl.com and check it out! While you're there you can enter to win an Edwin McCain guitar or an autographed copy of his new album, "MESSENGER"! Don't miss Edwin hosting VH1's "Back 2 Back Videos" this Monday, June 28th. The hour-long program will air at 9 a.m. (ET), and again at 3 p.m. (ET). Meanwhile, you can see Edwin's new video for "I Could Not Ask For More" back to back as many times as you want (or at least until you develop some pointing-and-clicking-induced carpal tunnel syndrome), it's available in it's entirety on INSTAVID now! Penned by Diane Warren, "I Could Not Ask For More" was the #1 most added song at radio the week of its release -- Edwin couldn't ask for much more than that! Finally, tune into "Politically Incorrect With Bill Maher" on July 13th, and find out where Edwin stands on today's hottest issues. http://www.atlantic-records.com/edwin_mccain http://www.ubl.com *BUY THE NEW SOUTH PARK SOUNDTRACK AND GET A FREE POSTER* The most-eagerly anticipated film of the summer, paramount Pictures' full-length "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut" is unquestionably the cinematic event of the year, if not the whole #$%@ing millennium. For this epic animated saga, series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have composed a batch of all-new tunes in the tradition of such previous classics as Chef's "Chocolate Salty Balls" (from last year's RIAA platinum-plus CHEF AID), which are certain to make the "MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY: SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER AND UNCUT" the musical event of the epoch. Featuring Kid Rock and Joe C., Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson from Rush, Trick Daddy, and more, this hysterical new album includes the current single "What Would Brian Boitano Do." The companion video to this song is currently available in INSTAVID, check it out! "MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY: SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER AND UNCUT" is the album to have this summer, and it's out now! If you order it from the Atlantic S! tore on the Atlantic site, we'll throw in a free "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut" poster. Hurry, the offer is good only while supplies last! http://www.atlantic-records.com/south_park *KID ROCK GETS HOT WITDA DOGS AT KROQ'S "WEENIE ROAST"* Kid Rock has officially roasted weenies now on two coasts. The legendary rocker, rapper, and mis-behaver performed at KROQ's 7th Annual "Weenie Roast" in Irvine, California last Saturday, June 19th, along with Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Limp Bizkit, and more -- just a week and a day after causing a ruckus at the K-Rock "Dysfunctional Family Picnic" in New York. The self proclaimed "DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE" brought his Twisted Brown Trucker Band and half-pint-but-200-proof-sour-mash side-kick Joe C. for a rawkin' hellbilly hip-hop work-out which featured "Bawitdaba," his smash new single, as well as some classics and new sh*tz! The crowd was duly blown away, as was The Los Angeles Times, who proclaimed that Kid Rock's "solid, pounding and thoroughly integrated mix of styles was pretty much irresistible"! Kid Rock is set to kick out the jams all over again when his summer tour with Limp Bizkit kicks off tomorrow night, June 22nd, in Seattle. Check out the Tour Database! for a complete listing of dates, and get ready to have your weenie roasted! In other "Pimp of the Nation" news, Kid Rock was in Valencia, California last week shooting the new video for "Cowboy," the third single from the platinum "DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE." The video will find Kid Rock -- along with side-dick Joe C. and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band -- paying homage to Burt Reynolds with a sendoff of the 1977 burn-rubber classic, "Smokey and the Bandit." Unfortunately, the new clip will not feature Courtney Love, whom Kid Rock propositioned backstage at The MTV Movie Awards. Log on to the Atlantic site and enter the Kid Rock/Alternative Press sweepstakes! Answer a trivia question about The Kid (clue: the answer appears in the Kid Rock cover story in Alternative Press), and you could win a platinum plaque with your name on it, or an autographed guitar. http://www.atlantic-records.com/kid_rock *HEDWIG HITS 500 AS L.A. OPENING NEARS* The Off-Broadway show "Hedwig And The Angry Inch" -- which celebrates the musical travails of an East German "girly boy" who endures a botched sex-change operation, moves to a Kansas trailer park, and ultimately triumphs as an "internationally ignored song stylist" -- celebrated its 500th performance on June 4th! Sound like a lot of Hedwig? Well, hold on to your wigs, people, because there's a whole lot more Hedwig to come. A Los Angeles production of the show opens in the fall, to be followed by a national tour, and the film version will arrive at your local multi-plex sometime next year. For those of you who can't get enough of the show's songs -- which Time magazine called "the most exciting hard-rock score written for the theatre since, oh, maybe ever" -- the "HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH: ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING" is available at your local record store and at the Atlantic Store. http://www.atlantic-records.com/hedwig_and_the_angry_inch. *SUGAR RAY ON VH1'S "HARD ROCK LIVE," AUGUST 14TH* Sugar Ray wrapped up the latest leg of their on-going tour in support of "14:59" with a searing set at KROQ's "Weenie Roast" in Los Angeles. Mark, Murphy, Stan, Rodney, and DJ Homicide won't be off the road that long, however. Look for them to hit it again with The Goo Goo Dolls for a major tour starting July 16th in Phoenix. Check out the Tour Database on the Atlantic site for a complete listing. Sugar Ray will also be featured on VH1's "Hard Rock Live" on August 14th at midnight -- don't miss it! "Someday," the new single from Sugar Ray's smash album "14:59" is fast becoming the song of summer '99. If you haven't heard it yet, or just can't hear it enough, go to the Atlantic site to hear it in RealAudio, or better yet, check out the video in INSTAVID! http://www.atlantic-records.com/sugar_ray http://www.sugar-ray.com *P.O.D. SET TO UNLEASH THEIR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT, "THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF SOUTHTOWN"* For Payable On Death, the four fundamental elements of an explosive and utterly turn-of-the-century rock groove are Sonny on mic, Wuv on drums, Traa on bass, and Marcos on guitar. Hailing from the palm-lined mean streets of San Diego's southern-most section, P.O.D. brings their heart, soul, and sense of truth to bear on their debut album, "THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF SOUTHTOWN," which hits the streets in August. Produced by Howard Benson (Less Than Jake, Sepultura, Motorhead, Body Count, TSOL) and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge (Hole, Green Day, Suicide Machines, Rob Zombie), the multi-faceted album reflects the culturally diverse backgrounds of its members and the rich musical soundtrack of their SoCal hometown. P.O.D. continue to increase their reputation as a ferocious live act -- check them out when they come to a town near you! http://www.atlantic-records.com/p.o.d *NEW AMERICAN SHAME PREPARE TO PUT SEATTLE BACK ON THE MAP WITH UPCOMING DEBUT* Straight from the Pacific Northwest comes the 100% pure hard rock of New American Shame. On their eponymous debut album, the Seattle quintet -- Johnny: vocals; Jimmy Paulson: lead guitars; Terry Bratsch: guitar; Kelly Wheeler: bass; Geoff Reading: drums -- take the metallic KO of such inspirations as AC/DC, classic killer Queen, and the first four Van Halen LPs and filter it through an extreme modern sensibility. The result? Some of the most full-on, in-yer-face power rock 'n' roll in eons. "NEW AMERICAN SHAME" compiles the band's acclaimed eight-song indie EP with four newly-cut tracks. With such ax-driven tunes as the sonic headbutt of the first single, "Under It All," the bloozy "What's It To You," or the ferocious "Broken Bones," "NEW AMERICAN SHAME" plainly packs more sharp-edged hooks than a Hellraiser flick. New American Shame have already shared the stage with such current hard rock luminaries as Kid Rock and Buckcherry, and are now getting set to take their raging riffs, butt-shakin' songs and boundless energy on the road with The Cult starting in July. Brace yourself. http://www.atlantic-records.com *KID LOCO RETURNS WITH "PRELUDE TO A GRAND LOVE STORY"* Born from the same Parisian underground as the very stylish Dimitri From Paris, Kid Loco pioneered the emergent leftfield hybrid of ambient, lounge, and hip-hop which continues to dominate turntables around the world. Now, Kid Loco -- aka Jean-Yves Prieuer -- is back with one of the most breathtaking albums of 1999, "PRELUDE TO A GRAND LOVE STORY." Featuring remixes by St. Etienne and Dimitri From Paris, "PRELUDE TO A GRAND LOVE STORY" is sure to keep the underground overcrowded with bodies! http://www.atlantic-records.com/kid_loco *NEW VIDEOS FROM SOUTH PARK, SUGAR RAY, AND KID ROCK ON INSTAVID* Tune into INSTAVID this weekend and check out some new videos! Recent additions to the online video channel include "What Would Brian Boitano Do," the new single from "SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER AND UNCUT," "Someday," the second single from Sugar Rays's new album "14:59," and "Bawitdaba," from Kid Rock's "DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE."
