I was in Marshalls the other day and heard a jewel song come on the radio, which isn't too uncommon in that store. In fact they are on all the time. The first thing i thought when i heard it was, oh cool, Jewel is on, then i said wait a minute, which song is it. I knew that it wasn't one of the single's from her first album, because i know them too well, so I figured it had to be either Down so Long, or Jupiter. As i was trying to figure it out i heard her say " and you will live a life uncommon." And I was like what???? So, there it is, Marshalls is playing Life Uncommon. A very pleasant surprise. -katherine ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jun 1999 00:00:14, -0500 From: HCCZ70D@prodigy.com ( SARAH MERRITT) Subject: * re: Rusted Roots? So, if someone could just tell me that >would be >great. Thanks! Rusted Root is a Philadelphia based band which was formed in the early nineties, I believe. They let out a couple of independent releases before being signed to a major label, and they've gotten some radio play with singles like "Cruel Sun," "Ecstasy," and "Magenta Radio" (especially where I live on WDST, which is a Woodstock, NY station that has always been very Jewel-friendly, even way back in 1995.) They are a great band live, I had the opportunity to see them this past winter in a small setting and they were awesome. They have quite a few members, including a guy who sings mostly lead, a girl who sings backup and some lead, and a bunch of people who play various instruments (as do the singers.) They have a poppy- rock world-influenced sound, and I really like them. They are quite different from Jewel, but they are sort of acoustic and they have the same kind of earthy quality as earlier Jewel stuff. Check them out. Their most recent album is self-titled and is quite good. That's all I can remember about them right now, I know they have a website, it might be www.rustedroot.com, but it might not be, I have a bad memory. sarah ____ "[My guitar] sounds like choir angels in the middle of Times Square at rush hour." - Steve Poltz ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jun 1999 21:09:20 -0700 From: "Rizioule" Subject: * NJC: Irvine Meadows Gathering of Angels Live Music Sunday June 27th 12:00 noon The Artist Rizioule in association with the Southern California EDA's Proudly Present The Gathering of Angels http://www.homestead.com/GatheringofAngels/ Concert Tour June 27th At Sloppy Joe's In Irvine California ( Just south of L.A.)
