It includes the new dates (late August) as mentioned by MrBB in his post earlier today. As he and the Jewel site both say, there ARE more dates to be announced. So please be patient if your region is not represented below. I have one request though, as list manager. PRETTY PLEASE (yeah, yeah...OK....with a cherry on top) .....please do not post to the list asking when tickets go on sale etc. I know some of you may wonder why, but we have 1,900 subscribers here and I am easily getting a dozen or more posts some days solely asking about ticket sales. There ARE easy ways of finding this information on your own. Please call the venues, check TicketMaster at http://www.ticketmaster.com, and/or even look for a web site for the venue, or call a local TicketMaster outlet. To aid in finding a web site for a venue, online search engines are very easy to use and can help immensely to find such information....I know (from experience) that more than a few of you have yet to use one, but they can be your best online friend at times :-) My two personal favorites at http://www.hotbot.com and http://www.lycos.com There are many others of course. Give it a try :-) On the other hand, when/if you DO find information on when tickets got on sale for a particular Jewel show, of course PLEASE share that info with the list and post what you know!!! :-) Mike :-) ^`'~*-.,_,.-*~'`^`'~*-.,_,.-*~'`^`'~*-.,_,.-*~'`^`'~*-.,_,.-*~'`^`'~*-.,_, 6/25 Centennial Arena, Bakersfield, CA support: Steve Poltz 6/26 Coors Amphitheater, Chula Vista, CA support: Steve Poltz 6/27 Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, Irvine, CA support: Steve Poltz 6/29 Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, CA support: Steve Poltz 7/1 The Rose Garden Theater, Portland, OR support: Steve Poltz 7/2 General Motors Place, Vancouver, BC Canada support: Steve Poltz 7/3 The Gorge, George, WA support: Steve Poltz 7/5 E Center, West Valley, UT support: Steve Poltz 7/6 Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO support: Steve Poltz 7/9 Reunion Arena, Dallas, TX support: Steve Poltz 7/10 Woodlands Pavilion,Houston, TX support: Steve Poltz 7/11 UNO Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, LA support: Steve Poltz 7/23 TV-Today Show, NYC (Summer Concert Series) ( NBC television 7:00AM-9:00AM EST ) 7/23 PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ support: Rusted Root & Steve Poltz 7/24 Jones Beach Amphitheater, Wantaugh, NY support: Rusted Root & Steve Poltz 7/25 WOODSTOCK 99, Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, NY (To be broadcast as a "pay per view" cable TV special. I am here to serve and thusly I came up with a few thoughts on the subject of Safe Gatherings. #1 WEAR SUNSCREEN. I know this is a cliche bit of advice, but nothing slows your reaction time and ability to respond to witty reparte like being distracted by having to walk in a way that least creases your skin. In other words, becoming a boiled lobster in flesh tone does not lend it self to good personal awareness. Also the bad mood it brings on makes others more likely to direct bodily harm toward you. Wear Sunscreen. I cite our recent SoCal Gatherings at Balboa Beach and the Ren Faire at Glen Helen Park. You would think it is moulting season for EDAs here on the west coast. Peeling is Icky... #2 TAKE MANY PHOTOS. Photographic evidence is a powerful deterant. Take photos of all deviant endeavors witnessed and escape with them to prove your case and WARN OTHERS!!! Photos will also help you prove the details of your case happened as you say and not as other slanderous folks would have everyone believe. This would have been most helpful for me to have been able prove my story in the now infamous "SYRUP-BOY INCIDENT". I swear I'm innocent..... #3 PLAN TO HAVE FUN. Nothing distracts a body of EDAS from turning on their weakest member like a pack of wild animals (it's not pretty...We lost Lauren that way at the MM Gathering) like FUN. Constant fun and hilarity are key as not only does it occupy the group for a long period of time, but it also wears them out so by the end of the day no one seems to really even notice that it has been 45 minutes since they last saw the Denny's waiter. If that were to happen while invigorated...oh my...I shudder to think it.... #4 HAVE SHINY OBJECTS NEARBY. Proven by our trip to the Rennesaince Faire this past Saturday, EDAS cannot focus on forward thought when presented with dangling glittering objects. Our group must have splintered and reformed in various configurations innumerable times that day due to the ssplendid wares that would snare us into vacant wistful stares . I admit it of myself as well...Only the promise of Pepsi was strong enough to draw me out of my reverie. #5 KEEP YOUR CLOTHES ON. Unattended Clothing tends to find its way up signposts and/or going home with others in their vehicles. Note..towels do make a reasonable short term replacement for clothing...but it does raise eyebrows at the Denny's later. #6 GIVE GROUP HUGS. Group hugs are safer as they are easier to break from. However, they have the potential to be dangerous if one is caught in the mush pot position amidst a group hug. Watch for this. #7 NEVER LET TOM MILES DRIVE. Just like it says peeps. They wrote involuntary manslaughter laws based on his exploits. Beware.... #8 GO IN DISGUISE. Lori (Yeah its period dress, what of it?!) Arthur and Mike (I have blue hair?) Carmona both proved the effectiveness of this ploy at the Ren Faire. They are both very cunning and wily ..... At this point I would like to thank all the EDAs and friends that particitpated in our recent Gatherings and supplied the basis for my ongoing research. I encourage othe EDA scholars conducting field research to write in and lend their expertise to these safety guidlines...I hope to be able to confer with you all soon .... Foolish Games on VH1 Crossroads...sometime in 1997>> This was originally broadcast on Feb 1, 1996 <> This was originally broadcast on March 3, 1997 I was recently asked about when & where Jewel had warmed up for a Bob Dylan concert for the first time. Since then, several others have asked me this & since I'm talking triva here, the answer is: Jewel first appeared as a support act for Dylan at the Embarcadero at Marina Park in San Diego on May 10, 1995 . She performed as part of an acoustic trio with Steve Poltz & Gregory Page, showcasing the local talent. In April of 1996 she was asked to tour with His Bobness for four NorthEast shows which twice included Jewel & Dylan together on "I Shall Be Released". She also did one more warmup for Dylan's series of shows at Los Angeles' El Rey Theater in 1997, which featured a different special guest support act each night. She was the support on December 17, 1997. That makes a grand total of six times. Minutia! About a year ago, the list had a rather argumental disscusion on whether or not "Amen" was written about Kurt Cobain's death. Well, I was looking around at jeweljk.com today, and found, under Thoughts, Rumor and Truth, the very last paragraph says:"Is the song 'Amen' about Kurt Cobain? Although written immediately after Kurt Cobain's death in 1994, the lyrics of 'Amen' were promted by the feeling of hopelessness experienced by many of his fans." I think Ticket master screwed up! (Vancouver show) Halo Angels, Well, today I passed by the Ticketmaster window in my town and just out of curiousity sake went in to see on their maps where my friend and I will be seated in GM Place in Vancouver on July 2. My friend bought the tickets in Vancouver and was told he got the best seats available closest to the stage. On the map I looked at today and on the info in the computer I was told that the stage would be facing the other direction in turn we would be placed BEHIND the stage. Close yeah, maybe....Best....NOT! Can someone please tell me if you know different. If anyone has been to GM Place before and are more familiar with the concert bowl set-up there can you please email me....I'm devastated! One other thing, (Mr BB?) does anyone know if Nedra or Mr. BB will be attending that concert in Vancouver, Canada on July 2nd? I 've just watched O-Zone for the second time in some weeks, 'cause Jewel was announced as one of the guests in this programme. The first time was some weeks ago and Jewel wasn't in the show at all ... That was very strange, because they named her a minute before the beginning of the show. On the jeweljk.com site it says: Jewel at O-Zone on June 15th, 1999. That's today. I checked the time the program would be broadcast. On BBC Text it says: O-Zone with the American singer Jewel. So I expected Jewel in this program. She wasn't there again!!!! Why does BBC2 announce Jewel as one of the guests of the program, while they're not going to broadcast anything of her?? In response to what Erin said about Ticketmaster screwing up. I have tickets for the Toronto show at the Air Canada Centre and my seats ARE behind the stage for NORMAL concerts. But for the Jewel concert it's set up as the "Sears Theatre", where the seats are totally different. The stage faces the seats which would normally be behind it (faces away from the rest of what would be the "rink") thus limiting the seats. There is a curtain up behind the stage. Maybe check to see if the venue in Vancouver has different seating arrangements for different shows, cuz I thought I was behind the stage until someone (thanks Preety!) pointed out that we both were indeed very close to the FRONT of the stage.
