Halo Angels, Alright...I have been reading a lot of the responses to my own post last week and a bunch of new ones about whether or not Jewel has changed. To me this is like a teacher telling you your multiple choice answer was wrong but not telling you which one was right. So basically what I want to know from you all is: Tell me HOW Jewel has changed! I know this will start a huge huge posting war (for lack of a better term at this time) but please email me privately with your answers and I will post to the list afterwards with some of the most common ways you think Jewel has changed. I want details too!!!! Consider this a little challenge I guess. Put your money where your mouth is,....(I know...it's just a saying...sorry!) So write to me and help me understand what I cannot! How has Jewel changed over the years, months, days, hours? Thanks everybody. Lilith Fair Toronto 1997? -(not sure the exact year it's from but it's a one hour show where Jewel sings Near You Always, gets in on Water is Wide with the other ladies, and also Closer To Fine where she does an awesome improv I'm sure yodelling.) A few things off hand that I'd like to trade are the Rosie O'Donnell show and the Roseanne Show (Dec/98) and of course anything else that I haven't got! Oh and I have yet to find any record at all anywhere of the original show I saw and heard Jewel on for the very first time ever in my life. It was either Letterman or Leno (I'm almost positive) and she sang Foolish Games and it was sometime between November 1997 and February 1998. Please HELP! I need to find this video! Thanks a bunch! Howdy Angels, "is it that we are changing or is it that we are just maturing." -KNKP I truly believe that maybe 1 or 2 people on this list may possibly know or talk to Jewel. But yet we give ourselves the right to judge Jewel as if she were lower than ourselves! I've seen that Jewel is different than TV likes to portray or her label likes to portray for quite sometime! Wether she's being changed by the industry, or the unthinkable to you guys, Jewel is just showing her true self to the world. We need to respect her music! Isn't that why you are here? Isn't that why you wrote the list telling us about how Jewel's music helped you or touched you? You dont and cant know someone unless you know them! I don't mind hosting a gathering. - -- Mark ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 1999 13:10:37 PDT From: "Shawna L." Subject: * My Friends Hello eveyone I notice eveyone has a lot of different opinion on wether or not there is a change in Jewel. I presonally am not going write supporting either side but i will offer my thoughts on the subject and hopefully some of you will read this and see a point that you had never thought of. I have not read the posts on this whole issue, i stopped reading them after i had read two. For the people who think there is a change, the only "change" i see is in the music style (addition of band). The lyrics i fell in love with are the same, the depths the meaning and the ability to touch you and make you think about things is still present. Some people like the new musical style and some people don't, it's all a matter of taste. Some people think that there is a change beyond the musical style and that is what i want to adress. For the people who like the interchange days better i think i might now why. When Jewel was singing in coffee bars she was an insouciant young woman who was just out there doing what she loved to do. The difference now is that she is doing what she loves to do but with a lot of extra "bull shit". I think the people who like the interchange days better sence that she was having a bit more fun, things were exciting and new for her, and that is why they sub conciously or conciously tend to like those days better. The extra "bull shit" i am talking about is the media and us (maybe not just us but the public in general) These people hold nothing back and really feed her "bull shit" ideas like the photographer who made a comment about her weight. I'd like to open his eyes for him! Maybe Jewel changed the style because she wanted to and maybe because she was responding to the "bull shit" but either way i think both sides have Jewel in mind when they stand up for what they say. The interchange people remember a carefree young woman doing what she loves to do. And the people who enjoy the "new" stlye are supporting the Jewel of today who in no means is different form the Jewel of yesterday except maybe she's grown a little older and a little wiser. HOWEVER the point she is trying to get across, how she trys to reach us and her good nature has not changed at all. We should all know that.. we should be able to tell. So in closing i would just like to say that we must realize both sides have good intentions in mind. Thanx for reading my babble you guys rock Shawna Faith's Angel P.S. I remember one post had said that spirit was not jewel's "fault" Spitit was not anyones "fault" spirit is a phenomenal album just like the last one. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #326 ***************************
