OK, some people think that if Jewel freakin DRESSES different, she's selling out to the music industry. MY GOD!!! Think about it, people, this is JEWEL we're talking about. The one that carries Alaskan soil in a tupperware container to keep herself grounded!!! Get real, if she was selling out, I think we would be able to tell. So calm down people. That's all I have to say today. I can't believe it but I bought my ticket to se Jewel this morning for the Camden show and I got front row in the middle section. I could not belive it. I have no idea how or if I'm going to be able to get there but I feel better knowing I have the ticket. Camden is not exactly close to where I am and the people I work for are pretty bad at letting me leave work early and then I have to ask permission to use the car (very humiliating at age 25!) So The chances are I wont get to go. I'll enjoy the idea for awhile and then if it turns out I can't go some lucky EDA will have it passed on. FRONT ROW!!!!! Anyone else planning on going or already got seats? Let me know. This is about my nine-hundredth time bugging the Wisconsin EDAs (Mandy:), but I think I could use some help - if possible. I need to get a motel/hotel room for a couple days around August 14th for the concert in Milwaukee - ANY SUGGESTIONS? If not any as to which to stay at, maybe suggestions as to where to look? Any help would be appreciated. So i quote from the Q-magazine in July from the UK... In the magazine four people gave their opininon about the concert Jewel gave in the Royal albert hall, and really everyone was extremely happy with the concert and appreciated the whole concert. They were suprised that sometimes the british audience didn't get her songs. One female fan couldn't believe why she wasn't so extremely populair in the UK.......and all the others were really impressed about her concert in the Royal albert hall that i was lucky to attend in May. Take care of yourselfs, Michiel the dutch Jewelfan who thinks Jewel is still the same creative artist she has (and still is )always been. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Jun 1999 21:07:48 +0200 From: "michiel" Subject: * reply to nice job jewel Helllo Jewelfans, In an message Jaimie wrote : I enjoyed Jewel's last night performance at David Letterman's show in channel 2. It was awesome the way Jewel interpreted the song Jupiter. She showed so talented making those nice innovations from the original recording. I can't otherwise be complety one with his comments. I saw Jewel on 11 concerts in Europe in may 99 and i was blown away by all the different assets Jewel gives to her tunes at the concerts. Sometimes she plays more accoustic songs, sometimes she clums more her guitar.......in every facet of the concert spoken it's a dream that comes true to witness yourself.. I personally rate every song Jewel sings as different, she never accents the same words at the songs, she always give a personal touch to the words and lines of the songs, that makes her the talent and the highly spoken artist of the 90-ties. I guess all of you are very interested to see how her role in the movie a ride with the devil will be. We only heard that it was filmed, but we never saw the whole movie. Hmmm at least a lot of you fans of Jewel... i think she conquers the world with every dedicated talent that she posseses , and that she is the person that really does what her heart say to do....she follows her ideas and thoughts and that's fantastic.... I am also very excited already about a new Spirit tour in October in Europe....maybe she will play new songs again and do some new band songs that they have rehearsed.....you should always memorize the concerts you are going to see AMERICAN fans......i was very blessed to have seen 11 concerts in 4 different countries in Europe in the month may. It was a wonderful feeling, and i travelled al lot, met a lot of Jewelfans in Europe. Discussed with EDA;s in Germany, France and the UK about Jewel.....Met even Swedish fans (hello carl !!!) and i was completely shocked by all the concerts that i saw. Steve Poltz , Lee, and Doug and Tony and Brady , Steve Georgia were all very pleasant to talk to in the moments before and after the concerts..... I was very happy and feel very fillfilled having seen so many concerts of Jewel in so many Countries in Europe.....a dream came true for me.....i hope to experience this much more often in my life... Take care all you fans of Jewel...... Working 300 miles from the house, and working 60 hrs a week has kept me away from the list..(I haven't worked my way through the 346 posts yet..) Just wanted to check in, and to mention that I should be able to make the dallas concert, albeit not as early as I might like..( The job site is about two hours from the concert, and I have to work ten hours that day..) so I should be easy to spot (the guy in the dirty work clothes =Þ ) No really though, I just wanted to check in and see what type of plans have been made for before or after, etc... Last time I heard from Dennis, he informed me that I was buying the beer, so ya'll come thirsty!! BTW: Amy, my french is not any better, but my spanish is improving by leaps and bounds... So, who else is going to the Dallas concert? I know of Dennis and Amy, and I think Luna said she would too....... Anyway, I have to run.... take care, Rowdy the ditch digging angel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Jun 1999 15:13:54 -0400 From: "Marylou Kunkle" Subject: * the negativity about jewel n'at ok, i understand that everyone has their own opinions. but it's really literally making me sick to my stomach, hearing the things you people are saying about her. she is my influence in everything i do! with how much she has effected my life, hearing that she's turning into a "sell-out" and stuff like that, it just makes me wanna cry! seriously! this is jewel. jewel is the same jewel we saw in pieces of you. she hasn't changed! she may be more mature, but not less grounded! she still has the same intentions, and they're stronger. i can't stand hearing this kinda of negativity after ONE performance, after ONE time she sang or danced different. it's really sad, and i think, "MY GOD WHY?!" Anyways my point of this post is just to say..IN MY OPINION..some people are just taking this way too far...if you don't like something she does..sure let us know..BUT why go SO far with your post and list all this negative stuff about her. ive seen this happen with other things too...if you look .. recently (regarding this letterman thing) it seems that all the really long posts are just COMPLAINERS..who in my opinion should just leave the list :) thank you for reading . We've received wonderful submissions from many EDAs from across the world, and we are in the process of tieing it all together and binding the Scrapbook for delivery to Jewel in the next few weeks. The thoughts and actions of members of this list have certainly proven that we are indeed making a difference! :-) >WHAT IS THE PROJECT ABOUT? The Acts of Everyday Kindness Scrapbook Project is intended to creatively document kind and generous acts committed by EDAs over the last several months. The book will be given to Jewel as a birthday present, fulfilling her wish that her fans do positive things for their communities and each other. The scrapbook will also be digitally reproduced and made available online for others to see and be inspired by. Coordinating this project is The EveryDay Angels Foundation (EDAF), a non-profit volunteer organization formed in 1997 by Jewel list members. >ARRRGGGGGHHH! I MISSED BEING PART OF IT! >IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN STILL BE PART OF IT? There are three ways you can still be included in this scrapbook: 1) If you have already have done an act(s) of kindness, sit down and write a paragraph or two about it NOW and email it to EDAFinfo@aol.com. We can't guarantee that anything received after noon EST Monday, June 14th can be included, however. 2) We specifically want to add EDAs to our "blood donors" list. If you have given blood over the past three months, or can do it by this Wednesday, June 16th, send us (EDAFinfo@aol.com) your full name and city/state, and we'll include you on that page! 3) If you haven't been able to volunteer an act of kindness yet, we suggest that you write a short "commitment statement" promising that you will perform "X" hours of a specific community service over the next six months. Email us (EDAFinfo@aol.com) your commitment statement and we'll include it in the book. (But be prepared to fulfill your commitment, and don't be surprised if the EDAF calls you on it! :-) Remember, it's a promise to Jewel and yourself! >HOW CAN I SEE ALL THE COOL STUFF THE OTHER EDAS DID? The EDAF hopes to make a digital copy of the scrapbook available online by August. We'll also have some photocopies of the scrapbook at some of the major EDA Gatherings this summer. Thanks to all who have participated in this very special and important project. I think we have all learned a lot, gotten a lot of satisfaction, and created a beautiful book at the same time. Looking forward to sharing all the wonderful stories, Amy, Dennis and Tom for The EveryDay Angels Foundation ********************************************************* The EveryDay Angels Foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission is to promote grassroots volunteerism and community involvement. It's real short but hopefully this will get people thinking and more will write in. How this works simple, if you see someone that's near you or that might be driving past you getting to Bearsville, or if you see someone you can give a ride to just write to them. It's up to you to work out all the details. Don't write to me asking questions, I don't have the answers. If you're scratching your head wondering what this is or how to get on the list read the post that follows this one. People able to give rides: Rebecca Smith missw9@hotmail.com Jacksonville, NC Can take 2 or 3 people. Jay C. Johnson johnsoja@martin.luther.edu Cedar Falls, Iowa (NE part of state) Can take 2 or 3 people. Tom and Vicki Miles tmiles@ptd.net Denver, PA Can take 3 people. People needing rides: Shawna Labadie pixie129@hotmail.com Wallaceburg Ontario, Canada Well there it is. Hopefully I'll see you all in about a month. John ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Jun 1999 00:17:10 +0000 From: JH Subject: * NJC: Bearsville: Angel Needs A Ride '99 info - OK since Bearsville '99 is about 5 weeks away. It's time to star working on getting people there. For those new to this here's how it works. If you want to come to Bearsville, but you need a ride or if your are coming and have room for people to ride along, you fill out the questionnaire below. Then once or twice a week I post a list of everyone giving/needing rides. If you see someone who can give you a ride you contact him or her and work out the details. Ok here are the questions, I'll give an explanation of why I need some of this info below: Name: Age: Phone #: (optional, but important, see below, I WON'T be posting the #s) Where do you live: State, City Do you need a ride or will you be giving a ride: If your giving a ride how many people can you take (remember camping equipment can take up a lot of space): Please send your answers to: rider24@worldnet.att.net With ANR in the subject, I'm filtering my mail so that it all will go into one mail box. If you dont have the right subject I may miss it, I get 100's of e-mails a day. Ok that's it, some of you may be wondering why I asked for your phone #. I know people get protective of info they give out over the net. Last year, we had some people run into last minute problems, phone calls had to be made and plans were being juggled around, this was all happening about 2 hours before we were supposed to get picked up. Phone #'s were a big problem no one had all the phone #'s so this year, I thought that it would be a good idea if I had all the #'s. Please read this part it's important. I'm not a matchmaker, I'm simply relaying information and trying to make things easier for people. It's your job to contact the people you decide to travel with. I can not vouch for anyone. Be safe and use common sense. If you feel funny about something follow your instinct. We do our best to make sure this will be a pleasant and safe trip for everyone, but things do happen. Call the person you'll be travelling with get to know them. Ok one last thing please only write to me if your serious, sending me jokes just wastes my time and takes me away from doing what's important helping people get to Bearsville. If you have questions about what Bearsville is all about visit mikes web sight: http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/bv/bv99.htm I'm taking time out of my life to help people on the list, please follow my instructions. If you upset the people who take the time out to help people on the list, people will be less likely to help you in the future.
