EDA and Jewel list member Rich Long has been posting about his 1999 EDA tee-shirts recently, and we're happy to see that they are based on Carter "Who Me?" Navarro's cool design from way back when... (meaning pre-JewelStock!). In addition to those shirts, we want to announce the upcoming tee-shirts that the EveryDay Angels Foundation has in the works. We were going to release these the first week of June (this week!) until Rich announced that the "Navarro design" shirts were being printed. This type of project can get confusing, so we have decided to hold off until Rich receives his pre-orders before offering the EDAF tee-shirts. Ours will still be available this month for donations made to the EDAF (which works out to about the same cost as the '99 EDA shirts). Any profit over the manufacturing costs will go to support the Foundation and, as usual, all donations are 100% tax deductible in the US. So what does that mean for you EDAs? It means that everyone can have TWO very different everyday angel designer tee-shirts to mix-and-match and accessorize with this summer! :-) The design and ordering details will be available very soon. For all those who have supported the Foundation in the past, thanks! Amy, Tom and Dennis for The EveryDay Angels Foundation ********************************************************* The EveryDay Angels Foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission is to promote grassroots volunteerism and community involvement. The EDAF is online at www.EveryDayAngels.org and can be contacted via email at EDAFinfo@aol.com or by writing to The EveryDay Angels Foundation, PO Box 123, East Petersburg, PA 17520. ********************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Jun 1999 03:24:11 PDT From: Maffe Aap Subject: Jewel at Lowlands (*lightbulb*) Hello people! I'm in ecstasy at the moment, I'm still recovering from irregular heartbeats after seeing (part of) Down so long on MTV UK during the request show, unfortunately I only saw the last 2 minutes.. but it got played, so that made me happy. I like the part where Jewel stands in the snowy forest? that's what it is, right? I have an idea.... Jewel should play at lowlands!!!!! This is a big (alternative) Dutch festival, like Pinkpop, but better. There was people saying well, cute but Jewel is not a Pinkpop act.. Well: Heather Nova, Jewel, Ilse de Lange, Postmen, Nashville P., System of a down, Soulfly had , HAD nothing to do with the Pinkpop thoughts, but since it's grown to an alternative, MAINSTREAM festival, all is possible Same for Lowlands, after signing Offspring, Suede, Silverchair and Supergrass, gives me a feeling that Jewel could be there... It's good for us Europeans, who'll be keen on going... also since her Euro tour got cancelled, and is back in October???? Lowlands is from August 27th until August 29th and according to Jeweljk.com nothin' much will be going on around then... So I ask you all, mail Jewel, mail Atlantic, mail Lowlands try to get Jewel at Lowlands I'm gonna mail to Jeweljk.com, does anyone know of any other important sites, management/booking/Jewel herself? Vote here for the bands at Lowlands: http://www.cybercomm.nl/~saucytrt/ then click on lowlands click on suggestiepagina enter your 3 choices and e-mail Later, Maffe aap aka Jeroen Thijssen ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 13:42:29 +0200 (MET DST) From: Alex Oudshoorn Subject: * Re: Jewel at Lowlands (lightbulb) Hi, On Fri, 4 Jun 1999, Maffe Aap wrote: > I have an idea.... But I was disappointed that there wasn't a regular Jewel concert in Holland. I have never been to any other concert of Jewel, but I think that the show will be different at a festival. (First of all it's only an hour) That's why I wouldn't like it if Jewel would play in Holland only festivals. Alex :-) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Jun 1999 11:01:48 -0500 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: * NJC: Houston EDA Gathering Update! (6/4/99) These updates will appear at most once a week until the week before the show, on July 10. Some EDA's are also planning to go to the Dallas show which is the day before, and the New Orleans show, which is the day after. These updates will only refer to the Houston show though...as far as whose going, the plans for earlier in the day, after the show, etc. As of right now, there aren't any *definite* plans, however some things have been tossed around, and we are speculating they will occur...once we figure out a time, place, etc. Plans call for an all-day gathering...before the show, and maybe after as well. Once a placed is established, we plan to have a BBQ/picnic/plywood roping contest/beer guzzling contest (j/k) whatever else you can think of that's FUN! Some EDA's will be arriving Friday night very late, coming back from the Dallas show. So no time or place has been established yet as for when this gathering will "start", and where it will be. More than likely, there will be some sort of BBQ either at someone's house, or wherever we can find a good place for that. This will occur around lunch time I'm guessing...but this isn't definite. We'll all hang out till it's time to make our way to the venue, allowing enough time to get there to see Steve take the stage at approx. 8:00pm. I'm predicting he'll play about 45 minutes, then there will be a 15 minute break for stage preparation for Jewel, then I think Jewel will play at least 1 1/2 hours...which I think is really cool since the longest I've ever seen her perform before was 1 hour. So it most likely won't be over till at least 10:30, maybe even closer to 11:00pm. After that some of us may get together and go to a club, or just hang out somewhere. But others maybe not be able to, and yet others may want to get an early start on their road trip to New Orleans the following day. So all this is still really up in there air. But we'll think of something soon enough. As Tessa said, let's play it by ear...us Texans are known for being laid back anyway...ha ha. Right now we're looking at about 15-20 EDA's...unless more get tickets soon. 99% of the covered reserved seating is sold out. Ok, ticketmaster.com is showing *1* seat left for the covered reserved section...so that's really more than 99% sold out. And the non-covered reserved seats are going quickly...they're about half gone already. So don't wait too much longer if you haven't already bought tickets. They are only $36.00, that includes all the taxes too, which to me is cheap based on the prices of other recent shows. Lawn seats are even less of course, if you prefer that. So that's about it for now...here's a list of all the people that have told me they're planning on coming to the show in Houston...if you have any questions, e-mail me, Dennis, Luna, or Tessa...I think we're the ones that are "sort of" getting this all together...or so it seems anyway...ha ha. All the e-mail address appear below. One of us should be able to give you somewhat of an answer...at least to the best of our knowledge at this time. The show is still over a month away, so once it's closer, (within a week or two) I'm sure we'll have more plans ironed out as far as the where's, when's, etc. Till then, I'll just be resubmiting this letter to the list once a week (with maybe a few minor changes), along with the most up-to-date list of EDA's going. If anyone sees any incorrect or missing info in the list, let me know so I can get it corrected ASAP. Thanks, Derrick One more thing...be sure to get your orders in for the new EDA t-shirt so we can all wear them to the show! :-) Did you all see Rich's latest post...if not, go read it! Alex I agree with Alex, Jewel was nice at pinkpop, but I think I liked it much better if it was in a theater or. The mastering at Pinkpop wasn't good at all, if they were in a theater they do a sound check and everything will be perfect at the performance. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 14:07:09 EDT From: MRegen3721@aol.com Subject: * song title? i have seen jewel in hamburg a few weeks ago and i would like to know if anyone can remember the song title of steve poltzīs song, where he said 'i wrote this one in australia and new zealand'? please let me know the title. this song was fantastic....... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jun 1999 15:07:43 -0500 (EST) From: jenniea@expert.cc.purdue.edu Subject: * NJC: hey las vegas angels! hey all you angels in las vegas! i'm going to be out there the last week in july for a wedding and was wondering if there are any cool bands playing or something that week. if you have any info on cool stuff going on (besides the regular casino-type things) please drop me a line! i'd love to meet some of you! thanks! jennie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 14:55:30 EDT From: AmyC22@aol.com Subject: * angelfood Does anyone have the Innerchange tapes, the concert at PNC Bank on 8/30/97, or RareAngels? But instead of Monica, Andy Richter (Conan's side kick) was answering the questions. Barbra Walters asked, "Why don't you just leave him [President Clinton] alone and get along with your life? Andy Richter replies, "Well, I think Jewel said it best when she said, 'My hands are small I know, but they are not yours, they are my own." Barbra Walters staring agape. Andy Richter, "Hello? Jewel, you know Jewel!? Alright then, sorry I'm not quoting the Andrew sisters or Ouog the caveman." I thought that was hilarious. - -- Mike Carmona mikecarmona@earthlink.net ICQ#: 39634851 {The Big Bad Jewel Site} http://home.earthlink.net/~mikecarmona/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Jun 1999 14:37:21 PDT From: Darwin Cuenca Subject: * Singles Trade!!! hi there, if u have anything like other jewel single, can we do a trade? On jeweljk.com it says that Jewel is playing at the Air Canada Centre on August 1st, *but* neither the Air Canada Centre webpage or the Ticketmaster Canada website has the concert posted. I was just wondering if the venue has been confirmed yet or what's going on? If anyone knows, either post it on the list for everyone to know or email me privately, thanks. Also a big hello to all the local EDA's who responded to my last post about a pre-show EDA meeting.. it's still being planned guys! We just need to confirm a date and place for the show first because that's a pretty vital thing here :) Lotsa Love, Justine, The Joyful Angel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Jun 1999 01:26:51 +0100 From: "Michael McFall" Subject: * Jewel Blues?? Hi EDA's. I have recently listened to a bit of "I Got The Blues More Than You Do Blues" by Jewel. It is brilliant!!!! Well what I have heard!! The problem is that I have got a Realaudio file which is eerily silent after about 1:40 mins. Is there anyone with a complete Realaudio or .WAV format of this song, I need to hear all of it!!! Even better would be the tape with it recorded. I think it was recorded in Summer 95, not sure though. If anyone can help, please email me privately at the address below. Thanks!!
