[phyre Subject: * Aussie Jewel Stuff G'day all! After a month's absence from the list (while I got my email redone), I've returned with a lot of email/digest catching up to do! Anyway, this is a reminder/note to all Aussie EDA's that the 'MTV Jewel Biorhythm' special which aired in the US a while ago will be aired on the MTV Channel (OptusVision and others) in Australia on: Monday 24th May at 8pm Tuesday 25th May at 9:30pm It's kind of funny (and quite coincidental) that this is being aired one day after Jewel's 25th birthday! I also taped the 'MTV Startrax' program which recently aired on MTV in which Jewel plays her 'supposed' favourite music videos. This was taped while she was in Australia (in Bondi) and so counts as an 'Aussie appearance' I think! Also, look out for the 'Saturday Night Live' appearance on Arena (Foxtel). Also, the Arena channel on Foxtel has VH1 specials every Saturday(?) and has Jay Leno *every* night! (making it very difficult!). Anyway, enough from me for now..... Jewel was introduced as an up and coming voice. It must be frustrating for her to be so ignored here. It troubles me! Anyway, Jewel looked a bit pissed off for the first minute, like she didn't want to be there, but the band's enthusiasm was infectious, and she broke into smiles half way through. Of course, her voice was perfect as always. I hadn't seen her on TV since 1997's MTV awards, and she looks so different from what I remember. More beautiful, if that's possible. Jewel appears in Singapore's own version of "Teens" magazine. She's on the cover, and apparently, the magazine spent a day with her or something, following her around through the soundtracks etc. I've only scanned through the article so far, and to be honest, it's not entirely flattering. It's about 3 pages long, and I'm a little too lazy to type it out at the moment.... But if anyone wants the magazine, let me know. It costs about US$1.50. Secondly, MTV Asia showed "Ask Jewel" just now, and weeeellllll.... It was disappointing to say the least. It was a little boring actually. Jewel didn't seem to have her heart in the program. Basically, fans from all over Asia send in questions for her to read and answer. I sent in a couple of questions myself, and they didn't get answered. I'll type out the transcript later or maybe someone will.... *grin* My main gripe is that it seems that the music video for "YWMFM" is not being shown at all here! Well, they do show the Sean Penn version, that's it.
