Please take into consideration the people who will be traveling from other states to go to the Jewel concert and leaving right after. I personally am traveling all the way from New Orleans, Louisiana to go to the San Diego Jewel show, and a friend of mine is traveling from Cincinnati, Ohio to go to this same show. It really made us happy when it was announced that this gathering would take place June 25, the day *before* the Jewel show especially since a very good friend of mine will be performing there. I'm pretty certain that having this gathering before the show would be much more convenient for a lot of people. Please take that into consideration. Thank you, Priscilla. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 May 1999 10:21:42 -0700 From: "The Glittery Starry EDA" Subject: * STEVE INVITED ME ON STAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi EDA'S, Yesterday it was my birthday and I was also going to see Jewel perform in Berlin. The evening before I saw her in Hamburg and after the concert I met Steve again before he went into the bus ( I already met him in London and Cambridge and he still remembered my name ) I told him it was my birhtday ( it was already past midnight ) and he congratulated me. Yesterday afternoon I saw him coming out of the bus and he yelled Happy Birthday to me. He was with Doug and they walked in our Remko, Michiel and me ) direction and we started to walk towards them. They both congratulated me and we talked a little. Steve asked me how old I was and I said 18. He said : Now I can take you back to california with me. And doug said : I can marry you when we get there. Then Michiel said that I am already going for a year and I told them that I am going to be and exchange student next year. They asked where I was going to study and I told them that I have to choose this week between San Diego and Orange Coast County and steve layed his arm around me and sid that I should go to San Diego. Then he said : This is going to be the night of your live. Then they went in. That night when he was about to play his third song he said : Happy birthday Lotti ( Lotti 4 times ) and he said that I was 18 years old now and that he was going to do the next song for me and then he told that he could only say one thing in Geman ( but I forgot what it was ) and he asked where I was so I waved at him ( I was in the third row in the center ) and he said: Come her, It's your birthday, get your butt up here, and give me an applause. Eighteen years old, it's a very special age. Hop on up. And I went up and I got a glass of wine from him and he said he had only one verse ready. It was his French song " je t'aime, je t'adore, que voulez-vous encore ". It was really great standing up there with him. I got a few more kisses from him and then I went back to my place. Later when I went to the toilet people recognized me and wished me a happy birthday and asked me if I knew Steve personally. It was just so cool. This was my best birthday ever and I just wanted to share it with you. Billy Bragg's show was 15:30-17:30 last week - I presume this'll be the same on Saturday. Of course the reason Johnnie Walker's not doing the show at the moment is that he's been suspended following tabloid allegations of drug abuse ;) Unfortunately this clashes with the FA Cup Final, so I'll be in the pub at the time, but will have the first 90 mins on record, and listen to the rest when I get back. > 21 TV-GMTV, London, UK (approx. 8:45AM) > 22 FM -BBC Radio 2, Johnnie Walker Show (3 live songs, hosted by Billy > Bragg) Oh by the way, the revamped version of Videotech, on which Jewel is supposed to be appearing at some point, is now screened weekly on most ITV regions some time after midnight on Thursdays. But who knows. I thought that may have been possible, but now I'm not too sure. It could very well be more rock oriented. Should prove to be interesting, whichever path she takes...maybe she'll be the next Melissa Ehteridge...I could tell she had a liking for her style on that Crossroads episode she did a few years back. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 May 1999 20:19:44 +0930 From: Tiggles Subject: * Aussie Airing of SNL / Steve Poltz single Hey folks Saturday Night Live with Jewel appearing (Joan Allen is the guest host) is scheduled to air on Arena (Cable TV in Australia) on Saturday June 19th @ 10pm EST, and will be repeated on Sunday 20th June @ 8-30 am EST. On another topic, some one asked a while ago what was on Steve's "Silver Lining" single (Mercury/Polygram 556 225-2), well here it is 1. Silver Lining (LP Track) 4-14 2. Intro 0-17 3. You were meant for me (Acoustic non-LP track) 4-26 4. Intro 1-00 5. I thought I saw you last night (LP track) 4-23 6. Satan's Choir (non-LP track) 3-33 BTW track 3 is just Steve singing. I decided to respond to both Seth and the list, since a few others may also want the answers to these questions. 1 - yes, that is the correct weekend. Don't worry - the dates will be drilled into your heads soon ;-) 2 - a & b- yes, there are costs - If it is the same as last year - and I'll be verifying that as soon as I hear back from Steve's, it'll be $5/person/night for the campsite, plus food costs and spending money - but this will be covered in more detail later 3 - I believe John Hickey will be setting up the 'Angel Needs a Ride' portion of this year's event - As far as the Party Van - who knows what someone may decide to do - Tom Miles (who did the van last year) will be back home mid-June I believe, but I have no idea if he'll be wanting to do that this year.... 4 - RSVP's will be taken soon enough, but if you can't wait or have any questions, you can send e-mail to BRSVL99@aol.com Hope this helps everyone planning to attend!! I had been going to concerts of Jewel in Germany last weekend, to see her in Hamburg and Berlin, and that was so cool. In Hamburg did i hear a lot of songs by Jewel that i haven't heard sung by Jewel ever before. She sang a wonderful accoustic song, and she played also some new band tunes that i didn't hear when i was in England in the begin of may.. Today , Lotti another fan from Haarlem and myself decided to go to the studio of Paul de Leeuw - a talkshow like 'David Letterman' hehe *LOL* in Holland. The broadcaster told us the tickets for attending the show was sold out, but i was very very lucky to get with the other dutch Jewelfan tickets for today show. We knew since Sunday evening that Jewel was coming to this dutch tv-show with her full Spirit band. So we decided to take the gamble , and go to the studio. It worked out fine. We arrived rather early this day in Amsterdam. We decided that we had to go to see Jewel in this one and only dutch tv show this week. We had a drink, chatted with Tony Hall the bass player. And even got a chat with Brady Blade the famous drumplayer of this Spirit tourband. I will tell you more about the meeting soon, but i haven't time right now...do it soon for you.. i spoke with Jewel and Steve and they were really nice and chatting with me and Lotti after her performance on today show for dutch tv. Tomorrow there will be more about the Germany concert tour and the performance and meeting today. They need more variety of the artists. I agree with you, I've been to the Hamburg and Berlin gig with two of my fellow Dutch Jewel fans, and on our way back we called Warner Music Holland and Warner told us that TMF (a Dutch music tv station) wouldn't play DSL just because they (TMF) didn't like the song/clip. After that we ofcourse called TMF to hear what they had to say about it, and they said they played it, well it turned out they only played it once, and weren't planning on playing it again, we encouraged them to play the song more, and they promissed they'll play it more, but I still have to see that. And what about if Jewel and Steve did more songs together! Yeah, that would be great, especially for the singles, since they won't put any unreleased songs on them, maybe they could put some of Jewels songs on it with Steve like YWMFM, or even steve's Silver Lining. > Does anyone know why they don't > play Steve on the Radio? They used to play "Dicks Automotive-Rugburns", on > one of the Rock stations! Oh well, the publics lose yet again! Probably because he isn't that well known, as Jewel is here in Holland :-(( I wish they'd play more of Jewel and Steve here, that'd be great.
