Part one Date: Fri, 7 May 1999 22:23:29 +0200 Sender: owner-jewel@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Part one of a long story that i will write for you fans....!! hello Jewelfans from all over the world, I started with my Jewel Travelling Spirit experience with this lovely story about Belfast. When i flown away to Ireland, i firstly had to travel from the airport to the Hotel in Belfast. It was a really beautiful hotel and it was very close to the hotel actually. We were going to the Madison hotel, and it was so beautiful i really liked to meet my friend in the UK and long Jewelfan since early 1997 Chris Groves. We spoke up at the Ulster Hall were Jewel was going to give her first concert of her European Spirit tour. We , that means Jesse from holland a friend of mine, and myself and Chris shared a room and got than walked the next saturday to the concerthall in Belfast to try and catch a glimp of Jewel. She was playing in a small Concert hall that was really nice . It had the style Jewel deserves and the atmosphere from outside seemed to be very nice. On this early Saturday morning i was walking to the Concert hall and than i was checking all those guys that are helping with preparing the stuff and the concert equipment. I have to say they really do a wonderful job and they are very kind and friendly. When i was walking at the streets of Belfast i met up with Mr Lee Green, the road assistant manager and a good very close friend to Jewel of course :-) I was talking with this spontaneous friendly man and he was telling me that they really enjoy the whole Jewel concert tour. I asked him friendly if Jewel was in the building but he friendly didn't answer my question. I think that is really smart, because Jewel needs the private moments very much. We went walking again trough the city, ate something and than got back to the Ulster hall in belfast again, and i have to tell you it was so cool to see the fans already seated for the Venue and making themselves enjoying and talking and chatting about the upcoming Jewel concert that night. There were several students from the Belfast University and i even learned a friend from Sweden know named Carl . We started to talk about Jewel, and we all agreed that this night was going to be very very special already in advance. We decided to go in the Venue and we started to get our places and had a look at the lovely lovely Jewelmerch that they were been selling from Jewel. I think all the items they have in stock was so cool to have . Carl told me that he was walking down the streets and saw Jewel walking walking with her personal friend and roadassitantmanager Mr Lee Green and they talked a little bit with eachother. At first point Carl told me that Mr Green was thinking that he was from holland because we (chris , michiel and jesse two of her fans in holland talked to Mr lee Green) and than he told jewel i am from Sweden. She immeditately started to talk some swedish words to him and that how he got end up having some little chat with Jewel. And than again she took some time to sign his Jewelcd's. He was really happy to met Jewel of course . The Jewel tourbook of her Spirit world tour is really a beautiful item to catch if you are going to the concerts of Jewel everywhere you will go. It has dozen of nice photos from Jewel and a lot of lyrics of her latest recording Spirit. They also have printed in the book , the really awesome Jewelband. I have to tell you guys everytime when Steve opens the concerts , he makes the crowd in a very very good excited about how the songs of Jewel will come to light at the birth of the concerts. Steve always plays the guitar so beautifully and is really a charming and incredible friendly guy. His songs are brilliant , and his great wine act is suberb. I don't know if you noticed but every time when Steve is starting the concert the whole crowd is getting in the mood for the Jewelconcerts. Jewel started singing on Saturday with Ten chances, and he let us European fans her the fantastic Chair song...this is the most funny song i ever heard in a concert. He really is a wonderful singer/songwriter and it's really a shame that we haven't seen him in Holland a lot of times especially as he always sings the most beautiful songs. His album he always seems to be promoting at the concerts --- My name is Steve Poltz, i am from Southern California San Diego and i have a wonderful record that is up for sale tonight only for 10 quid it makes everybody laugh especially because he really repeats! His songs are so cool, especially the songs he plays with guitarplayer and steel peddle specialist Doug Pettibone and the wonderful keyboard player Steve Martin really seems to enjoy them selves. Steve and the keyboard player for Jewel also named Steve if i am right sings than harmony the Great mystery. And on the first night Jewel and Steve sang so far the only two songs that are on the One Left Shoe cd called Silver Lining and I thought i saw you last night.. Than they had a break and than the show continues with Jewel......She started to play Near you always and everyone from the crowd was so silent you could hardly hear the people breathing anymore :-) Jewel was wearing the lovely oufit that she was wearing in the Royal albert hall as well. She was walking on really beautiful shoes , high ones . An incredible green and black snake leather pants and a lovely Jewel top. Wow the excitment and her pure voice at Near you always that she play accoustically is really so powerful and beautiful that i really feel so happy that this got you really struck, Than she started the song Deep Water, which she played at so many Jewel Angelfood tapes. This time it's such a lovely perfomance. She really takes the time for every note on the songs and it really enjoys me and makes me so happy to be part of the audience that night. Short after this there comes her song What simple is true. It really makes you feeling so good. This song should really be the opener for the movie A ride with the devil. This song really fits the Jewel soundtrack and movierole. Wow guys you can imagine that the next song is even more special because it's the cool lovely wonderful song about how we can be a difference that makes the difference. Jewel sang the first line as i am quoting pretty well :-) If i could tell the world one thing than it is that we are not okay !!!! Do you feel the trill ?? Jewel quoting a different line from the Spirit cd...... I am really tired right now but i will continue my first Jewel concert Journey soon for all you Jewelfans in the world. In europe Jewel is still unknown ....how silly this still is!!! We have to make the chance to make Jewel more playing here in Europe....i am so excited because i will have to tell so much still....but it will follow soon for you Jewelfans ....Even my own jewelexperiences and thoughts will be revealed......:-) Greetings, Michiel International european Jewelfan who is doing a wonderful Spirit concert tour trip...i still go to concerts ..... http://members.xoom.com/Jewelimpala/index.html a dutch tribute to the wonderful singer songwriter from Alaska - Jewel is touring with her band rightnow in Europe and i am lucky to go to a couple more still to get the thrill of the concerts ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 May 1999 19:36:03 EDT From: MANDYGAL@aol.com Subject: Jewel in Kansas City Hello! :)~ Anybody wanting to go to the KC Jewel concert on Aug. 17th e-mail me. Lori Jupiter's Angel email: larthur@fullerton.edu ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 May 1999 17:25:02 PDT From: "Jessica Maki" Subject: airplay Hi my fellow EDAs-- Due to the major postings of making DSL popular throughout radio stations and all, I thought I'd post this. Yesterday I was browsing around for a pair of shoes. (for this band competition we had today) As I was walking from one store to another in the mini-mall, what do my wandering ears hear? "Life Uncommon"! I yelled at my mom and explained that they were playing Jewel on the mall's radio station thing, but she didn't seem to be as excited as I was. (shame she wasn't, eh?) But anyway, I refused to move from the speaker (heck, I was practically glued to the thing!), and I just stood there kind of swaying back and forth while singing "Life Uncommon" with all my little heart. Then after I was done with my probably irratating performance (in my mom's eyes) it made me realize how other people should get to know Jewel's music better, so I've been calling up all these radio stations and requesting nonstop since then to play DSL so many other crazed fans may enjoy hearing her (and who WOULDN'T!?) Ok. this e-mail is pointless. But, oh well :P - --Jessica, the mischevious, tomboyish, in love angel that likes to "clumsly strum" her guitar :) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #245 ***************************
