Sorry about that. Anyway, in the Malaysian edition of Marie Claire (May), there's this small, itty bitty snippet of Jewel news to be found, along with 3 equally small, itty bitty pictures. The pictures aren't anything great, she looks nice, and in one particular picture, is looking rather confused while holding on to an older copy of Marie Claire and a bottle of water. :) Here's what was mentioned: JEWEL SPARKLES Is this Jewel a fake? The folk singer, known for her heart-rending songs, is nothing like the spiritual chick she makes herself out to be. In fact, she turned out to be one funny lady when I met her in the flesh. "I'm in a cheeky mood today," she announced with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Kindness matters, bitch!" was a surprising retort when one journalist repeatedly pressed her to define kindness. Another wanted to know what her personal motto in life was. Her answer, "Eat plenty of Chitos!" To the question, "Do you think looking good has contributed to your success?", her answer was, "Yes!" But her eyes lit up when I asked her about shopping. "I love nice clothes but I'm a lousy shopper. I've got the most amazing things from all over the world. I have a weakness for designer stuff, though I feel guilty about spending all that money." Her platform shoes from Prada and Helmut Lang jeans were all given to her. And on her day off, the petite lady was spotted shopping at DKNY Palais Renaissance for a pair of beige cargo pants and grey cap-sleeved top. "But they never gave me a discount!" she joked. Apparently, the staff at DKNY had no idea who she was when she dropped in with three men. It was only after Jewel presented her credit card that the salesperson realised who she was! The singer managed to party on Sunday night to thumping techno music at Zouk and was spotted swimming with her hunky boyfriend Chris Douglas at the Hilton pool. Now that's the real Jewel for you! Any typos are mine. :) Subash ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 May 1999 00:30:37 PDT From: "Winona Reed" Subject: Angelfood trades Hi guys I was just wondering if anyone was interested in trading some angel food. With finals coming and everything, I sort of forgot what day it was and realized..OOPS! (that's not really the word I used...) I forgot to watch Jewel on Regis and Kathy. Then I thought...Hey! wasn't Jewel gonna be on TRL that SAME day??!! Why yes...It IS WEDNESDAY Lindsey, NOT TUESDAY. SO, since I don't get Mtv, i have to call my mom and have her tape it. It was like 3:45 when I called, and let's just say, she's not too good with Electronic devices. SO by the time I got her to tape it it was like almost 4 = I don't think I am gonna be able to see much. So, that's my story. SO. If anyone can help me out...I WOULD SSSSOOOOOO appreciate it. I need both of those tapes and (obviously)I would send you a tape to copy them to. If anyone can help me...PLEASE................ - -Lindsey :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 May 1999 10:50:30 EDT From: AmyC22@aol.com Subject: After the concert.... >All in all a great night. Subject: New Jewel ad In the new issue of Gear magazine, the May issue, there's an ad for Jewel's CD Spirit. I've never seen this one before, it has a good picture of her (full page) as kind of the background, and says that PoY sold over 10 milllion, and that Spirit has now gone quadruple platinum, which was news to me. Least I heard, it was triple platinum. It's not worth buying the whole magazine as there's no other Jewel content in there that I'm aware of, but if you're in a book store, you may wanna check the ad out. I haven't seen it in another magazine yet, although I'm sure it is, or will be soon. ONEreach is an initiative by ONElist to periodically sponsor fun and interactive programs that encourage the growth of your communities while simultaneously contributing to them. It is our hope that the ONEreach initiative will foster even stronger communities around the common interests and causes that have brought your communities together in the first place. We are kicking off ONEreach today with the "Grow to Give" Program. Through the "Grow to Give" Program, ONElist will donate $5,000 to each of two charities chosen by the two communities that grow their membership the most within the next two months. The community that grows the most in actual new ONElist subscribers and the community that grows the most as a percentage basis of new ONElist subscribers will each choose a recipient charity. ONElist will then donate $5,000 to that charity in the name of the community. All ONElist communities as of April 19, 1999 at 12:01 a.m. PDT are automatically participants in the "Grow to Give" Program.
