POY, Angelfood-trades Hi EDA's! Let's start with the 'new' POY. I never heard of this item before on the list, so I'm gonna describe it. I ordered it at a german online CD shop: replacement: YWMFM version from european single (produced by Ben Keith and Peter Collins) instead of classic version addition: Foolish Games Edit (wrong length on inlay), actually 4:00, version from european single [radio edit] (produced by Peter Collins) Cover: Same picture as on european Foolish Games single Booklet: Picture of Jewel jumping replaced by cover of (one of the) european singles of YWMFM (picture from video-clip) Picture above poems Leaving Las Vegas and Criticism replaced by cover of european single of WWSYS Ordered it from www.Alphamusic.de (european Online CD Shop) , not even expensive, only 30 DM. Looks like a 'Single-Special Edition'. It might be a version from somewhere else on this globe though, but I never heard of it. Now to the Angelfood trades. I have one request: Did anyone from Australia tape the concert in Melbourne (26th Feb. 99)? Please contact me, I have nice stuff to trade. Any european (preferable german) EDA that wants to trade some tapes? Please e-mail me. Found this today in Borders book shop in Oxford Street, London. It seems that the publishers brought forward the release by a couple of weeks, as it was due out in May. The details... It's in paperback, so no rough edges, but otherwise identical to the US edition. It's published by Boxtree who are an imprint of Macmillan Publishers, costs £9.99 and the ISBN is 0752213598. Chris. So I found a few organizations that I would like to help out at and found their email addy's on their websites and wrote this letter to them: Hello, My name is [your name here]. I am [your age here]. I graduated grade 12 last year and besides working part time I am interested in volunteering in order to further my work experience. [tell them a little about yourself] I am part of a world-wide organization called the Everyday Angels Foundation. We are a group of people of all ages, who are inspired to be kind and help out when ever possible by the singer, songwriter, inspiration Jewel. She calls us the 'Everyday Angels.' (EDA's) Every year for her birthday she asks that we do not give her store bought gifts and things she does not need. Instead she encourages us all to help out in our own communities and commit daily acts of kindness. This year the EDA's around the world are organising a scrapbook to give to her; a record of all the kind acts she inspired us to do. Although Jewel will be given this scrapbook around the time of her birthday, we do not want the kindness to stop there. That is why I am writing to you. I know that your organization takes volunteers regularly, so I have chosen a few select organizations that are of interest to me to apply to as a volunteer. Some of my interests are: [your interests and hobbies here] I will be committed to helping your organization out in which ever way I can. I will also try to get others involved in the kindness chain. If I can be of an assistance to you and your organization please let me know. You can write to me at [address/ phone number] [some closing, maybe a quote from Jewel] Anyways, first off, can I write that? And secondly if it's allowed feel free to copy this or make up your own variation of it to send to places that you would like to help out at. I thought I would share this will you all...hope that sun is shining where you are! It sure is here! Playing small shows around the country after having toured with his more famous female counterpart, the San Diego singer-songwriter is a classic entertainer. Warm and enchanting, he put in a two hour stellar performance in the intimacy of the Cargo Club, flanked by candles and fuelled by vodkas. The great strength of this folk-pop artist- who co-wrote Jewel's smash hit You were meant for me- is found in his lyrics. Gently strumming simple guitar cords, he crafts wonderfully engaging stories that are often both romantic and humorous. His anecdotes between songs were a delight. But it was the songs, such as Forbidden Fruit and I thought I saw you last night, from his album One left shoe that left the audience mesmerized. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Apr 1999 15:09:01 +1200 From: "Kim Lees" Subject: "Down So Long" debuts at NZ#16!!! :-) Hey Angels, DSL just debuted at #16 in the New Zealand charts!!! so far all her other singles have debuted in the 40's except for "Hands" which somehow made #27 first week in then dropped out altogether a few weeks later... I'm guessing DSL is gonna be her biggest single to date... her highest peak position so far is WWSYS which got to #14 in 1996 and DSL is only one position off that already so hopefully it'll at least get into the top ten... I doubt it would ever get to #1 though considering the way the NZ chart seems to work these days... :-( at the concert DSL got as big if not bigger audience reaction as the other singles got and that was before radio had really started playing it so it kinda surprised me that everyone seemed to know it - nobody really cheered when she started doing any of the other "Spirit" songs (except for "Hands" of course...) oh yeah... "Spirit" got to #4 in the album charts last week which is its highest position to date... dropped to #5 this week though...
