First off, what address can I send the acts of kindness thing to? Also do you just want writing, pictures, or both? Is there any age limitations to EDA (if there is that is just dumb because it shouldn't matter how old you are)? Last thing, how could I ever possibly meet Jewel? I would give my lung to see her because she is such an insperation for everything I do. You can either mail me at neo-oldie@saturnlives.com or just post it. Thanks all! Matt (neo-angel) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 22:45:55 -0700 (PDT) From: Caroline Shanks Subject: Re: scrapbook etc. Hey there! Soz this e-mail is a tad lengthy, but I don't post that often so it kinda evens out! With all this talk about Jewel's birthday present and whether or not she'll like it I can personally put my two cents in and say she would. It's not showing off, it's proof. Jewel has requested that our energies are focused elsewhere and the scrapbook will prove to her that we are doing something for others in need. I think it's a wonderful gift, it's something that would brighten my day if I knew that I had the "power" to encourage others to help those less fortunate than myself. Well that's my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinon :oP Also coming up in May my best friend and I are participating in the 40 Hour Famine. For those of you who don't know what this involves I'll tell ya! The 40 Hour Famine is where you are sponsored to go for 40 Hours on only Barley Sugars and Tea/water. The money you raise goes to World Vision to help children in need. Last year I was able to raise $100 (making me a Bronze Achiever). It was a great initiative for me to surpass me previous goal. I think that this is a great way for younger people to help charities cuz it doesn't involve forking out big bucks and when you get together with friends it's fun. And if you can't handle the 40 hours you can do 24 or even 8 hour famine! I'd love to do more, but I'm still in school, I don't have a job and therefore do not have a lot of money. But I try whenever I can and that's the important thing. I think it's great if everyone could try and do something for someone else even something as basic as helping a friend in need and not just for the month of May, but all year round. Also (sorry) for those Aussie EDAs, the music show Ground Zero hosted by Ugly Phil and Jackie O is currently conducting a survey for the Best Song of the Century. I voted for WWSYS, as that's one of my all time fave songs. Anyway the final list will appear on Saturday April 17, channel 10 around midnight. If anyone else would like to vote for Jewel, or any other song the addy is www.gz.com.au Just click in to Team, followed by Hotspot, then Topic of the Week and vote away! Vote as many times as you like!!!!! If there are any interesting results I will post them up on Sunday or Monday. Well that's it from me. Blush Angel Caroline "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle" - Plato ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 23:14:44 -0700 From: Rhino Subject: Mama says Scrapbooks are the DEVIL! Hey peeps, Ok, after reading many many many many many posts about the scrapbook, I've changed my mind somewhat kinda maybe sorta. I realize many of you want to do this to show Jewel what an inspiration she is, and to make her feel good on her birthday. Word, I'm down with that. But I still think something like that represents the ENTIRE EDA community, and I still think it makes us look like we're starved for her attention. "LOOK!!! JEWEL!!! SEE WHAT I DID?!?! YOU'RE AN INSPIRATION TO ME!!! I MAY NEVER CLEAN ANOTHER BEACH AS LONG AS I LIVE, BUT SEE?? CAUSE IT'S YOUR B-DAY I SPENT AN ENTIRE DAY TOILING MERCILESSLY NOT CAUSE IT WAS A GOOD THING, BUT CAUSE I WANTED YOU TO SMILE FOR 30 SECONDS!!!!!! AND NOW I GET TO BE IN THE SCRAPBOOK!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!" Now, I'm not dissing the good deeds. They are AWESOME. Good for you guys. But I do them because I like to. I like think I made a positive difference. But I can't even imagine spending an entire day doing something just to stick in a book to send to a celebrity. Seriously folks, you guys are sooo cool to want to do all these things, but you shouldn't gloat about them to Jewel. Just drop her a card that says "the EDAs were inspired to do many great things in remembrance of your birthday, Jewel". End of story. That would make me feel good if I got that. It's simple, honest, and human, just like her. :) Keep smiling, Ryan The jagged little angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Apr 1999 02:25:24 EDT From: Harrisbros@aol.com Subject: HOW to submit your "Acts of Everyday Kindness" *** Many have posted about the "Acts of Everyday Kindness" scrapbook, including some who wanted to know: >to whom or where do you send your acts of kindness so >that it can be included in the scrapbook? Anyone wanting to participate should send an email to the EveryDay Angels Foundation (EDAF) at EDAFinfo@aol.com. We'll place you on a "participant list" and send out guidelines such as page size and deadlines for getting them sent in so they can be assembled and bound. These guidelines will be available by early next week, as soon the book binding design considerations are worked out. (A professional bindery is generously donating the service to us.) :-) But don't let that stop you from starting those acts of everyday kindness today! And if you're not sure how to put your own page together, we'll help you through the process when that time comes... Hoping we have a very HEAVY book, Dennis Harris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Apr 1999 00:38:14 -0700 (PDT) From: "Adia A." Subject: SCRAPBOOK! ******************************************************* I've had five incredible years of creating and living my dreams. I couldn't have done it without your support. Your enjoyment of my music, your prayers and encouragement have made all the difference to me. Most of all, the stories you have shared show such a growing hope and reveal your courageous hearts. This is, in part, what inspired me to create this album. Thank you. ******************************************************* Jewel couldn't of said it better herself, oh wait... she did, page 3 of SPIRIT. I can't imagine anyone especially Jewel not totally loving the scrapbook, and she deserves to see how she makes us feel! Why are we on this list anyways if not to show our appreciation of what she speaks for once in a while. We tell each other how she makes us feel, why not let her know. Remember one of Jewels favorite things to say? "I'm only human!" Well most humans like to see how they touch one another! So obviously I'm all for the scrapbook idea, and would love to help! It IS going to happen and is well on its' way to happening. The ringleader of this project (Dennis Harris) already has had MANY responses/submissions for this. So it IS a done deal, so-to-speak. If you want to participate and include an act (which should be truly in your heart, and not just for this occassion) then please do. If you do not want to be a part of it, then don't. It is as simple as that. It just akes no sense debating it, since as I said, this IS going to happen. I'm sure everyone' s heart is in the right place, even though personally I agree with Jagged Little Angel (sorry, cant remember your name) that it has some negative connotations. Now the purpose of my posting - Woodstock - anyone thinking of going? I'm considering, and would love to meet up with anyone else who's going. If you are considering it, do drop me a line, ok? Is Bearsville the same week as Woodstock? OK, that's all :) harin ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Apr 1999 11:54:44 PDT From: "Rebecca Smith" Subject: NJC: North Carolina EDAs, get off your butts!! Hello to all, OK, already, we all know there are more than 2 EDAs in North Carolina! I know, because I've seen posts from "y'all". :) So why, when I go to Dennis Harris's EDA registry page (where you can look at a map and see how many EDAs in a certain place are interested in gatherings and such), why on earth are only 2 EDAs registered in North Carolina?! :) C'mon! I know you're out there! Here's the page I'm referring to: www.EveryDayAngels.com/registry.html And if you haven't already sent Dennis the info to be included on the page, what are you waiting for? :) I know he just posted this yesterday, but to be included, just send an email to him at harrisbros@aol.com stating your name, email address, complete birthdate, city/state/country. It only takes a few moments to do this, and the gatherings we could have if there were more than two of us would make it well worth your while! :) Go Team NC! I don't know what I could offer you - but I'm sure we could reach an agreement.
