Hey all well Jandell recently posted an Australian Jewel article from Sunday titled "The New Madonna" which I also got. ANyway I have a few questions and comments on the article. Firstly it mentions a fairly well known fact eg.. That Jewel has clear green eyes however on closer inspection of the front cover and the inside picture (the picture of Jewel wearing a lacy dark pink/red singlet as well as another one of her standing wearing a baby blue halter neck top whilst taking off a brown leather jacket) I swear Jewel's eyes are brown... so what's the story? I always read that her eyes are green however they usually look brown and I just don't get whether she's wearing like coloured contacts or maybe I'm just blind or perhaps its the effects of the camera. Secondly is it true that Jewel didn't go to her grandfather's funeral? If so that does seem like a pretty low thing to do... I mean wouldn't most people cancel whatever business commitments they have no matter how important they are to go to their grandfather's funeral well that is if they loved their grandfather (if Jewel didn't have a very good relationship with him that's another story). Anyway that's about it for now.... catchya all later Christine ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Apr 1999 17:09:56 +1200 From: "Kim Lees" Subject: "Down So Long" single out in New Zealand Hi Angels, well, the "Down So Long" single is *finally* out in New Zealand... it was supposed to be out 2 weeks ago so I kinda had my hopes pinned on getting a signed copy, but oh well... it's the one with the live versions of "Fragile..." ummmm... "Fat Boy" & "I'm Sensitive" for b-sides... now, seeing as these are live versions ya woulda thought she'd have put the Edward story thing before "Fat Boy"... that would've just made it so much better and it would've added the emotion missing from the album version to the song, but no, it's just the song on its own... :-( also she cut off the intro for "I'm Sensitive" - it's the same one that's on "Save The Linoleum" so that would've been really neat if she left in that intro too but she didn't... other than that, it's basically just an out-take of the album version, which I guess was recorded at the Innerchange at the same time... oh, and you know that "boop-boop-be-doo, yeah" bit at the start of "Down So Long"... it's always intrigued me how they decided to leave it in for the single version whereas late last year some radio station played it without that bit so I guessed when it came out as a single it would be missing... I'm glad they left it in (although it would've been great to have 2 different versions of the song), it's just strange they did a version of it without it... I guess it was one of those test audience things but they preferred it being left in... hmmmmmm... Hello Jewelfans, I was wondering, now that i got the Japanese cdsingle Down so long by Jewel, if there has been released in Japan a Hands cd single too??? I really loved the cdsingle Down so long, although i missed Amen live from Shepherd bush empire , London. Will this song be on any other european single cd release of Down so long, perhaps the UK or Holland. When will the video of Down so long , by the way, will be released on European television MTV ??? Or any other music station ? Is there also still a chance that Jewel will do a normal concert in Holland or Belgium in May 1999????? Maybe Mr Abershaw knows answers to my questions ? Subject: Jewel not happy? Ok Amias, where's the whole other e-mail? I couldn't have said this better myself, and coming from an EDA that's hearing those earlier interviews for the first time, I think your comments about Jewel's "livelihood" are *very* relevant...it's what I've been trying to get across to people for months now. She's just not like she used to be...way too "professional." More fabricated answers, not nearly as humorous, and always seems like she's watching a clock. Thanks for your input. And since i'm sure there's a bunch of other newbies here, I'd thought I'd share it with you guys.. It's from the song "I'm Sensitive" (you probably heard it in "The Other Sister" and it's also in her old CD, POY). Anyways, towards the end of the song, she sings: (this is the entire last verse, so that you'll get the feel of it) I have this theory that if we're told we're bad Then that's the only idea we'll ever have But maybe if we are surrounded in beauty Someday we will become what we see 'Cause anyone can start a conflict it's harder yet to disregard it I'd rather see the world from another angle We are everyday angels Be careful with me 'cause I'd like to stay that way Just thought that some of you guys might be interested in that now! Not near as good as Jewel :), but it was interesting. Oh yeah...Here's a few other places I heard Jewel music. On the Tom Snyder show, his last episode I think, they played the music for Do You on the way to commercial. And on this thing we watch at school called "Channel One", they played the music for Do You during a part about teen pregnancy. There was one more, but I can't remember it right now....this all happened last week, but I forgot to post it. It's in a piece that talks about haircuts -- they mentioned that Jewel's layered haircut is good for those with round faces. Anyway, I'm not sure you should buy the whole magazine just for the picture unless you are truly obsessed. :-) But it's a good pic -- rarely do pictures bring out her awesome green eyes. :-) Lori Jupiter's Angel email: larthur@fullerton.edu ________________________________ She told them that the only grace they could have was the grace they could imagine. I would like to let you all know that my website's Poetry Section has been updated and is a lot easier to use now. Also, I was wondering if any of you wanted to send poetry to me for me to add on my website? If you do there is a form in the Poetry section. I am working on the Angels section too, it has seen better days. Let me know what you think of it, ok? I hope you all like it. =) Chow for now, Dan snowmaker@uswest.net Oops, I almost forgot to tell you where it is at. Maybe she'll get to do that duet after all! There's also a small picture of her that I've seen several times, I just can't remember where. Also, I've heard Jewel say that she took parts from two different songs to make Chime Bells, and there was a woman on Rosie O'Donnell today who was singing it. Just in case anyone is interested. I was watching TV (as if I don't do enough of that), and I saw Jewel doing a commercial on the TV Guide channel for Nat'l Poetry Month. (Which is April btw) It's cute. At first I didn't realize it was her due to her extremely long hair but alas it was. It's only like a 30 second thing. She talks about sharing poetry with loved ones for Nat'l Poetry Month. On another note. I'm going to NYC tomorrow and I'll see if they have the DSL single in the major stores. If they have more than one I'll pick up like 2 others and I'll either do a trade or will resell back at the price I bought them for. I'll update when I get back from the city tomorrow night. Until we meet again. Beth The Wondering Angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Apr 1999 19:43:16 EDT From: LOVLUCY113@aol.com Subject: Jewel Real Audio?? Hi EDA's! I'm kinda new to the list, and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a good Real Audio site that has some unreleased material. I already visited Kim's Real Audio site, but I've had some trouble downloading a few things. Also, to those of you who play guitar, did you teach yourself how to play, or did you take lessons?? I just bought a gutiar, and I've had people telling me that I can teach myself, so I just wanted everybody's opinion! Oh yeah, If I'm going too off-topic or anything, just let me know!
