I was asked the name of Jewel's Horse (the one she has now obviously) and i drew a blank. I have heard the name a thousand times but i just cant remember for some reason. Can someone tell me before i go crazy and start searching the web for the name. :) Thanks, Rich "Jewels EDA" Long ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 04:47:47 -0400 (AST) From: Jesse A McDonald Subject: Re: jewel and god > I have been a fan of jewels for a while and I find her music quite inspiring, > etc., etc. However, even though Jewel's music refers to "faith" and "god" and > "angels," I never really thought of her music as...well...religious, but > rather kind natured and spirited (for lack of a better explanation). Also, > since I have not ever been really religious (for various reasons), it bothers > me a little to hear that others see her in that sort of light. Don't get me > wrong, I mean, I think is wonderful that people have their own way of seeing > things and I would not otherwise be expressing what my view is, but it just > makes me sorta sad...you know...because I connected with the music for > different reasons (and I always feel left out when something great has come > about that has everything to do with religion). Anyway, I guess what I am > saying is I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what he thinks > Jewel's music is about. (not like song interpretations...different...i don't > know how to explain it) I think I feel very similar to the way you feel. I get downright dismayed when I see Jewel's music taken into a dogmatic context. Maybe it's not fair... Jewel doesn't belong to me, after all... but... aw heck, I have to admit I'm prejudiced against religion. And like you, I never saw Jewel as religious. Spiritual, yes, in a sort of vague, no-name brand way... but not a Christian or a Moslem or a Jew or a Hindu or a Buddhist or a Taoist or a Zoroastrian or a Discordian. Just an individual. I remember reading a review posted to the list... where the reviewer said that Jewel's line "But to be forgiven, we must first believe in sin" was a stern warning... I was taken aback at the notion! That anyone could think Jewel believed in condemnation... it upset me. But now, even though I'm certain the line was misinterpreted by the reviewer, I'm not so hung up on Jewel being what I want her to be. Hey, I can't stand half of her new album, maybe that's why... ^_^ | Jesse Dangerously http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ad309 | subterranean seraph 16 Trust Everyone | ad309@chebucto.ns.ca Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti | ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 10:18:45 EST From: Turook@aol.com Subject: NJC: thank you EDA's I just wrote a couple of days ago about having Hodgkins. Most of you know me as Liv, Livia, or my full name, Olivia. I have no Angelfood [:(], but a few Jewel collectibles, as well as some other items/other celebrities. If you are interested in trading, I'm looking for: a model of Jewel's VW van, a few angelfood tapes (respond, and I'll let you know which ones) and the poster of Jewel in the green dress with the pink baloons. Also, if anyone tapes Dawson's Creek, I'd be willing to trade for copies of that, too. E-mail me at rach_livie_em@hotmail.com, for more information and lists of what I have. The program that I'm talking is the Radio FM one, the same but on TV will be aired tonight at 1:30. First of all, I had to lie at work to arrive home in time to record the radio show. The program started at 19:00 with an small intro and then show time. Well Jewel wasn't alone, she played with her band. This are the songs that she play: - - Deep Water. - - Hands. With the same end lyrics than the Pope version, you know, "We're reflections of God"... - - YWMFM. The version for "7 de Caballeria" is better. - - Foolish Games. Only with piano. Perfect version. - - WWSYS. - - Down So Long. With a long and really great different end for the song. 6 songs in 28 minutes, as you could imagine she didn't talk between song, maybe because she didn't know if the audience understand what she say, I don't know, just a thought. All the way, less talk = more songs. I would like if she... ,well I'm gonna have to get off of here. Well, thanks Jewel for record that for us. In 4 hours I could see what I've listen 2 hours ago. see you all Fernando from Canary Islands. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 17:02:39 EST From: QPrincessD@aol.com Subject: sometimes it be that way could someone please send me some linx where i can get some or all of the song sometimes it be that way on real player i love that song and i havent heard it forever cuz i have no angel food luv vj the munchkin princess angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 15:03:37 PST From: "Pieces of You" Subject: Gibson Awards.. Actually the first time I ever saw Jewel was on a special Prom edition of house of style a few years back. I remember she sang just a little, but mostly she just went to different stores and tried on dresses, jewelry, shoes etc. Do any of you remember this? If so does anyone have a copy that I could get. I just remembered this and thought it would be nice to have a copy because it was the starting point of my liking her beauty and voice. thank you so much, Jake Skyles love and peace PS:It seems that everyone is putting a quote so i will to. And do you notice how in "Jupiter" Jewel mentions Jupiter, Venus, and the moon? Well, I did. I thought it was kind of interesting. Anyways, getting to the point, does anyone know what the song "Jupiter" was meant to mean? Or what it's supposed to be about? Just curious...
