KIM LEES PLEASE READ! [Rhino Subject: Spirt I was at the stable last week and I put on Spirt I have had it snice the day it came so i've been listening to it for awhile now, I think that the album lacks "spirit" Some of the songs it just doesn't sound like jewel was even trying to record them with any feeling. mebe 4 or 5 of them have alittle bit of "spirt" it's just like the rest of the songs are their to fill in space. Its also obvious what songs on the album are going to be singles. They would be the ones that sound like she tried.. thats about 4 whole songs! I really think she is a great singer and she could of done better. wright back and tell me what you guys think. - -Megan the angel with a cold :( ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Jan 1999 20:17:52 -0700 From: Rhino Subject: The lyrics to ELECTRIC FAN!!!!! KIM LEES PLEASE READ! Hey EDAs!!!!! Well, I (being the industrious type that I am) have embarked on a long and annoying mission. I decided to transcribe the lyrics to Electric Fan. Now, three bottles of aspirin later I have finished! And it's all wrong! Anyhoo, I got the recording from Kim Lees Angelfood Online webpage, and it was really hard to hear, so I glued my ear to the speaker (it was a pain trying to peel it back off) and almost made my eyes pop out of their sockets. This is what I came up with. Kim Lees, since you obviously have the original recording of E.F., will you listen to your version and let me know where the lyrics are wrong. You can probably tell right away, but here's the best I could do: Electric Fan Written by Jewel Kilcher. An electric fan That keeps me company at night At nights I at least make It easy to forget Violence is red It don't take meaning To get worked ...Right... An electric fan That keeps me company at night At nights I at least make It easy to forget Why I went to bed Love is an ember Born to burn out Whether I wish it would No, I don't feel better Lately they blend And blur with the scenery Crowded rooms make it easy To forget I'm lonely The cat puked in my shoe Guess it's strange it would But I, I don't need it anyway Whenever you use those words Usually I cry to you, bore you Sometimes I take some part of your (???) morals But the part can't be missed When you're thinking out loud When you chisel this burn It feels like a shroud Oh, God, maybe respect Has burned to the ground When I was driving by You crossed that line To Ginnesborough Hush go to bed It's time for those chairs To stack two to a row Oh goody I get to go to town If I ever get excited I would No, I don't feel that way - ---------------------- There it is! Don't put it on your web pages yet, cause I'll make additions/corrections to it and then post it in it's entirety. Ok, have fun transcribing you little transcribers you! Keep smiling, Ryan The jagged little angel "Hey, dude, I could buy and sell this place, so kiss it!" -A.M. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #42 **************************
