Hello there~ I was just wondering if there are any EDA's in the Portland-metro (Oregon) area...if so just e-mail me!!!!!! Thanks, Ben ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1998 13:36:51 EST From: CHERuBUG2@aol.com Subject: Jewel - Rockefeller Jewel as always had a beautiful singing voice in the cold Manhattan air. I was hoping she would've dressed a little more Christmassy-like in the Morning Show when she wore the long white jacket. Not like Cindy Lauper tho. She was so pretty last night. I wished that all the people would've kept quiet tho because i could hardly hear! Was any EDAs there? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Dec 1998 12:46:30 PST From: "Nico Pham" Subject: Jewel on German teletext AGAIN Hi lovely angels, German TV-channel Sat.1's teletext editors seem to have found a fave subject to write about - Jewel. The second time in a row (hey, that's quite much here!) I found news in the music-section (page 651). Today, well I'm not sure if anybody else has already mentioned this on the list, there's a little story about a recent appearance at a charity-event. Her fingernails were too long so she couldn't play the guitar. She asked the audience to lend her a pair of nail scissors. I got Jewel's POY when I was in Paris, a happy little girl. Since that time I have caught ( I don't know how) clinical depression. I really thought that my life was so shallow and superficial, and I didn't know what to do about it. One thing that has helped me through me treatment and everyone being weirded out by me is that I listen to Jewel's Spirit all the time. I think that it kinda lets me know that there are people out there that care about other things. It's good to see someone today with some soul. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Dec 1998 23:03:32 +0100 From: tomdukers Subject: Jewel's second book Hi all you eda's I was watching the interview on dutch tv today and Jewel mentioned that she will write another book. It's due at july 1999. She told it would be short stories about her and her life. By the way the interview was pretty good, she got to pick three videos from other artist and she chose the Red Hot Chilli Peppers with Give It Away, Eagle-eye Cherry with Save Tonight and Radiohead with Carma Police. She really likes the groups/artists she said. The interview was taped in London about a week ago they told. Just for info !!! Bye Tom, the angel with dark eyes and careless hair ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1998 14:7:52 -0900 From: Emily Subject: NJC: introduction Hi, I've been on the list for about a week and I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Emily, I'm 16 andI live in Jewel's home state of Alaska!! I've loved Jewel since I first heard her on the radio and II'm so glad I found this list. Emily ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Dec 1998 16:55:20 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: Jewel on MTV news This morning (about 8:55am CST), I saw Jewel on MTV news...they were covering part of the AIDS show she did...and it showed her singing part of Life Uncommon (yes!), and some other song...I can't remember now. Life Uncommon sounded so good live...it was just her and the guitar too, no band there. So that was equally as cool. I'm still looking for the following video excerpts: - - Access Hollywood clip - - CBS This Morning clip - - MTV News clip (recorded, I didn't record it this morning) If anyone has these on tape, let me know so we can do a possible trade. Thanks, Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Dec 1998 00:37:57 +0100 From: "Dr. RomeAntic" Subject: Jewel On Billboard :) Hey angels, your chart freak is here with latest news again... at least I HAVEN'T seen this posted yet, so in case it already got posted Mike will make sure oyu never read this...(Hi Mike!!! Thanks for the trust! :)) I swear it's all true! :) ) So what was I saying... oh yeah... Spirit slipt a spot to #4 on Billboard 200 album chart... and is now behind Garth Brooks (DUH!?!?)... Metallica's new double album full of Cover Songs Garage Inc. that debuted at #2 (I'm sure this will be below Spirit next week)... and Celine Dion's These Are Special Times... on TOP POP Catalog album charts... And Hands is doing better... it moved up 6 to #18 on HOT 100... while Shawn Mullins entered top 10... up 4 to #8... and on ADULT TOP 40, Hands are up 2 to #5... and YES YOU GUESSED IT.... I've seen the lewd comments on 1515 the sort of make me chuckle but from what i heard he said to Jewel i don't think it's very funny. Can someone please let me know where i can hear or read this interview???????? thanks! Michele ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1998 19:51:17 EST From: CHERuBUG2@aol.com Subject: Jewel in SPIN-i read it I read the article on Jewel in SPIN mag, page 111 It's awful And it's these kinda reviews that make me want to track down and shake the journalist by the shoulders and say "YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!!" She says how "Innocence Maintained sounds nearly identical in tempo, tone, volume, and melody to the five songs preceding it". Anyone who's hear Jewelstock knows this just ain't true! Maybe Jewel just wanted to make SPIRIT a somewhat monotonous album to sooth the mind and soul. One of those albums where you just want to meditate the whole time and not be calmed in one song and your heart races with the next. I don't know i just didn't find this article .... nice. Atleast it has a good picture Michele :( ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1998 19:24:41 EST From: Zaria2@aol.com Subject: Jeweltide Carols Giveaway Hey angels! Because of the holidays coming up I thought I'd give something back to the EDAs for all of the inspiration and support they have been. So I'm going to give away 5 completely free copies of Jeweltide Carols. I really wish I could make more for people, but I'm short on money and I need to buy presents for my family. But if you aren't selected as one of the 5, I can still tape stuff for you- just not at my expense. (e-mail for my list if you're interested). I've been trying to think of a way to select the people who are to receive the tapes, but I can't think of anything creative. (I really don't think first come first serve is really fair anyway). So I'll just pick the names at random.... I'll e-mail you and let you know if you're picked. Bye! - -Jen ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Dec 1998 01:23:01 -0000 From: "Barry" Subject: please.....(mystery WAV) could someone please e-mail that "mystery WAV?" i'm dying to hear it! thanks love Barry ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Dec 1998 21:13:04 -0500 From: Bevan Bielza Subject: Open-Mike...close to a bomb... For all you EDA's that did noy attend Jewel's appearance on Open-Mike: The Mike Bullard Show, don't worry...you did not miss anything. It was like a 7 minute mini-interview in which she was interviewed about stuff all Jewel fans should already now. Actually it was, honestly, a pretty cheesy appearance and I think everyone there was quite disappointed that she did have the time to sing...Besides the fact, Jewel will always be a graphical spectacle (the sheer noise of the audience's cheer will vouch for this), it was still cool to see her live, even though she did not perform (she left in the middle of the show!! oh well...) Better luck in the Dini Petty Show I guess...because her appearance tonight was sort of a bomb...(sorry to say it guys...but it was...) I say...stick to shows where she sings...and I think everyone is going to agree with on this one... Later, Bevan the primordial angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1998 20:04:18 EST From: Harrisbros@aol.com Subject: NJC: Att: Boston Area EDAs!!! This Saturday afternoon, a group of EDAs will be volunteering their time at the Greater Boston Area Food Bank (an affiliate of the Second Harvest FoodBank Network). Anyone in the area wishing to lend a hand and meet some fellow EDAs are welcome to join us -- just e-mail me directly and I will get you details on where we are meeting and what other things we may do around Boston that day... If you are outside the Boston area, please consider contacting your local food bank and helping them get their stocks set for the holiday season. Hello all you beautiful people! Let me introduce myself. My name is Heather Parrish. I live in Lexington, KY and just returned from living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I am a musician/artist. And have been singing and playing for sometime. Haven't made it big like Jewel yet....but here's hoping!! Anyway, my whole life's passion is music. All music is forms of expression and culture so I appreciate every type. Tonight I was just surfing the web and stumbled across this list. IT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE!!!! I am so exited now because I may actually get to meet and become friends with fellow Jewel Follower's! I don't know anyone that appreciates her gift like I do and I guess now I will! I don't know much about this list. But from the mails I have received so far, I am assuming that it is just a place to meet and greet EDA's. And also share valid information with each other. And I am sure there is more to this than that...and I can't wait to find out. I know I know....I am writing a book....I am just so happy to have found a list with such good and honest loving people. Anyway...I am starting a folder about Jewel and would like to put some rare things in it......just anything....: Info, picures, tour dates, facts, appearances, and unique things that are slim to find. I have a printer so anything you send would be appreciated and copied only for my personal use. I am also wanting to meet some people and friends that would like a pen-pal to talk to about there love for Jewel and music in general. I would like to include my personal website here....but I will understand if that is not permitted..so I wont at this point. Its just a site that has my picture and other simple info. So....any hoo....LOL I guess Ill end this novel with a kiss and a big huge gigantic hug to everyone out there who needs one!! Love you all!!!
