Hola a todos, last night was aired the recorded show with Jewel for "7 de Caballeria". It looks like the official day to be aired will be next 23, but it was 20 minutes ago. Now it's 1:02 AM in Spain. So I taped it by casualty. This program is presented by Miguel Bose, a very popular Spanish singer and actor. It's a musical show, with a few interview. Last one was a special women-only program. There were Alanis Morrisette with 3 songs, The Cors, and some Spanish singers, and of course Jewel. She close the show. She start with a live performance of HANDS, maybe the first one, remember that this program was recorded at the end of October (26 or 27). She sang it with a 5 members band; an acoustic guitar that makes chorus too, an electric guitar, a bass, an organist and the drummer. Then she was interviewed for about 10 minutes. She talks about: · His Hands, · How her lives has changed, · Barcelona - Hispanic Poets: Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, · American poetry - more unemotional, .... M.Bose ask her if she could read one poem chose by him from her book "ANWA" (that will be edited translated here in Spain soon), and she read: "I MISS YOUR TOUCH". .... · Maintain herself. · Freedom · Her favourite word "GOD". Then and finally she sang by her own, and with her acoustic guitar YWMFM. I haven't seen this song live before on TV, but I've it in various tapes and maybe because it was in my country, it's the best performance of this song. She really felt what was singing, the last part very slowly, with less guitar and in low volume, she looks really sad and touching. She said: GRACIAS. And that was all. She recorded for another TV show call "Musica Si", it's on Saturdays and I lost last one, so maybe I lost Jewel performance too. saludos fernando. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 06:34:02 PST From: "Amy Emerman" Subject: [none] the one that wasn't a true story was ADRIAN--that one she made up. Not much changed so far (that might also be because it's 7:00am central time) besides the Jewel store. I really like the new bags they have featured there, but the price!!!! My gosh, $80!!! I know the bag is probablly really nice, but that's rediculous, but i'm not complaining!!! I thought the limited edition poster thingy was the best. Even though it is $125, if it is hand signed, and not printed, on there, it still might be worth it. There's no way I would buy it though. Well.... just had to voice my opinion. I do not think it is completely done, but looking good :) Lesley ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 10:55:55 -0800 (PST) From: KaDeMa Subject: Copy of FANCAST Hey Everybody, First of all, Spirit's still amazing, i've already listened to it 4 times and will probobally wear it out by tommorow. But i'm sad, my computer doesn't have the capabilities to watch stuff like FANCAST, and I was wondering if there is anyone who was able to video or audio tape it, or even just has a transcript. I would trade you all my angelfood, give blanks, postage, anything. Pleeeeeeeease if anyone was able to tape, trade a copy, i would be forever grateful. I haven't posted about Angel Names in forever, so in case you guys don't know what I'm talking about please read: back in the summer of 1997, a list member started a list-trend that caught on with some fellow list members/EDAs. She used a "angel name." It is not necessary nor desired to post to the list asking if the name you've chosen for yourself is already taken nor to ask for help in choosing one. I (Lagu2001@hotmail.com) compiled a list of Angel Names presently in use. If you would like an angel name or currently have one that is not in use please e-mail ME (not the list) your angel name, actual name (this can be a nickname, first name, last name), and e-mail address. Mine would be Clearwater Stephanie Lagu2001@hotmail.com This project was done to make it easier for list members to see if their choice was taken. Mike (the list owner) has put it on his web page at page http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/angelnames.txt for the Jewel list so newer folks can access this Angel Name listing too. If you want to take your name off the list or submitt a name please email ME (Lagu2001@hotmail.com) with your angel name, actual name and e-mail address. (Don't send it to the list) Thank you! On another note, I have heard of some confusion with the angel names. example Someone's name is Bubble, please do not ask for the name THE bubble angel, this would be very confusing. thank you very much! ~~~~Clearwater ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 11:13:19 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: She answered my question! :-) I said in yesterday's letter, Jewel IS still the same person, and it seems last night she proved that. All the fuss about her ***** on SNL, yet only 48 hours later, people have gone back to liking her again, the ones who were turned off I'm referring to. Maybe this means something, think before you speak (or write e-mails to the list). I must say that I'm especially happy since one of the questions Jewel was given to answer was mine! I think about the 6th or 7th one...the one from Derrick70_93, although I'm sure it was hard to hear Lisa (the interviewer) say all that. The question was how she came up with the name Spirit for her new CD...of course I already knew that answer as most of us EDA's I'm sure did, but I figured that would be a good question for her to answer for everyone else tuning in...and one that was real likely to be forwarded to her out of the 1000's submitted. So that was cool, to see and hear her answer the question I asked, as opposed to just seeing the text as was the case in her last chat session on TVGEN's broadcast. I think she proved to everyone, by just being herself as always, that she's still the same as we all know her to be. So from now on, maybe everyone won't make such a fuss over such minor things. It takes up way too much space on the list, and makes the workload for people like Mike much greater. So think about things, before you post to 1000's of people. Especially after her upcoming TV appearances. If anyone finds a way to download the chat session and/or real audio/video broadcast, let me know. I'd like to get a copy (at least audio) of it. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited! I just went and bought Jewel's new CD in between my classes and I'm listening to it as I type this! I can't tell you how the CD is yet cause I'm still listening to it. But something really funny happened at Tower Records today. So...I walked in...saw this HUGE/GIGANTIC/TITANIC (hehe) cardboard thing promoting Jewel's new album. I also see out of the corner of my eyes this lady dressed REALLY nice and a man with standing next to her just staring at me. I could only see them from the waste up so I had no idea what they were carrying in their hands. It turns out that the lady had a microphone and the guy had this huge video camera. Anyways...I went and picked up the Jewel album and as soon as I did the lady FLEW out of nowhere and said "excuse me...is that the new Jewel album? Are you going to buy it?" I was a little bit taken by surprise but I answered in the affirmantive. Then the lady suddenly motions for the guy to come on over and she whips out her microphone and says "my name is I am here at Tower Records, may I interview you for the Sacramento news?"!!!!!!!!! Eeeks! I looked like I just woke up! I kinda looked shocked but I said "I guess so". So she starts asking all sorts of questions like why I was there so early in the morning to buy the cd and stuffs. Then at the end she turned off her mic and asked "is it okay if we video tape you paying for the cd?" So once again I said "yes". Isn't that funny or what???? I attract the wierdest people :P Well..I hope everyone is enjoying their CD..take care my angels-- Mary wannabe angel :) ::who is dancing around her room, listening to Jewel, while ATTEMPTING to read her homeword assignment:: "In the end only kindness matters" ~Jewel Kilcher ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 11:21:21 -0800 From: bpodeszw@stu.blanchet.k12.wa.us Subject: Re: EDA's PLEASE READ Hi. I'm not saying we ever where more important, but the reason for being on this thing got lower. I'm not a vet either, I'm realativly new, but I have been Jewel's fan for longer than most vets. Isn't that what matters??? We are still in a way, special. "Cause we're Jewel's" I have nothing against new members, just the people that sign on for no particular reason. Those people, who, without meaning, if there is a Jewelstock, will block the view for the people that have been loyal and good fans. The word is meaning, and a good majority of the people on the list have it. But some of the people that just care about how short her skirt is, how see through her dress, and how nice her body, is opposite to the EDA's who (should) appreciate her wonderful music, talent for writing lyrics, and iinspirational poems. This is what she is about, this and helping others. I have nothing against newbies, actually I am glad to have them with us, as long as they appreciate what is important.
