Hola mis queridos angeles, Yesterday night, my brother had told me that he had heard the radio station (Philly's MAX 95.7) that they were gonna be interviewing Jewel somewhere bet. 6 & 10AM during their morning show, so I woke up early & sure enough it came on from about 9-9:20AM. She called them from a hotel room in NYC & they talked candidly about her mom, SPIRIT, her upcoming book, her upcoming semi- autobiography (in July), her hobbies, & upcoming TV appearances,...(& other things I can't think of right now). I recorded the interview & have transcribed it, but since it's about 20 mins long I'm not sure if I should post it on the list, but I will send the transcript to anyone who is interested. It was a few years ago, she was still very unknown to the mainstream listeners. I live in San Diego and at the time only a handful of radio stations played her music. I can remember the fantastic day, I was heading out the San Diego State Universities Montezuma Hall with a good friend Andy. As we entered the doorway, I can recall stating to my friend that it would be really cool if we got to meet her. And low-and-behold, as I turned my head to the left, I saw Jewel standing in front of the restrooms. At first, I didn't believe that it was her. I mean, what are the chances of seeing a blond-haired girl in San Diego that looks at least remotely similar to Jewel... oh, plenty I think. That's why I still live in San Diego. Anyways, I took another look, and I decided to walk closer to her just to see if it was her, and sure enough, it was. I'll tell you, that moment is like a moment in heaven. Ever since that concert, I have been hooked. Since then, I have had more wonderful opportunities to meet her, mostly at Java Joe's in Ocean Beach. Well, hope you enjoyed my little story. Ten of you (you know who you are) will be asking Jewel questions & the rest of us will simply enjoy the show. The woman at MTV said I can invite ANYONE else who feels like it to come down & be part of the outdoor event. Jewel will be coming outside to meet & greet, possibly perform a song or two & they'll be giving away Spirit CDs. It won't be as fun as being in the small studio audience, but it will still be fun. If you want to be part of this outside event, then next Tuesday be at 45th Street and Broadway, and go to Shubert Alley where they will be holding this event. It will be at 3PM ET on Tuesday. (We're talking MTV headquarters in NYC for anybody who hasn't read their email this week.) It'll obviously be "first come first serve" & space is limited so I'd NOT recommend you travel great distances to attend. If you're already in the NYC area & are into taking part in this, then get there early & you'll likely be able to participate easily. That's about it.
