(Jewel in b-movies?) Hi! This is about the B Rated movie someone was talking about. They said something like "How do we know what she was willing to do to make money at 19"? I think everyone should keep in mind that Jewel has always had her dignity and is an intelligant person. I don't see how anyone can really even question if Jewel was in one of those nasty movies. Maybe people should question only if they hear it from Jewel! That is basically an insult to Jewel! In fact, I got hooked on Jewel's music because of the beautiful lyrics. Any feedback would be appreciated-it's located at http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Gallery/1713/poems.html. Does anyone have this picture without words over it, scanned? (Is there one even? MrBB?) Does anyone have some other Jewel artwork scanned onto their computer that they could send me? This will be of interest to everyone who gets Philly radio stations. I just heard today that Jewel will be on WXXN (95.7) on Friday morning with Chuck and Jenny. I'm not sure what the exact time for this is, but they're on from 6 to 10. And they'll be giving away passes to see Jewel when she's at the MTV studios on Tuesday. I'm not sure whether Jewel will actually be at the station, but I'm guessing that they'll be talking to her over the phone, since she's a very busy girl. :) ~*Jessie*~ http://welcome.to/asb ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 19:17:33 -0800 From: dijewe1@juno.com (Diana Ruiz) Subject: What's the meaning of "Hands?" Hey people, I was talking (or arguing) to my brother the other day about Jewel (we ALWAYS get into arguments on which singer is better) and Madonna (his fav.) and I told him stuff about Madonna's songs and I said that ALL Jewel's songs have meaning to them. Then he said "yeah right, what does Hands have to do with anything?!?!" he said "("my hands are small I know") who cares!!!!!" So I got to thinking (but didn't tell him), what is the meaning of that song??? Please, If anyone knows, Please let me know. Thank you soo much!!! {\O/} /_\ Diana an EDA FOREVER!! "Might as well smile, 'cause there's no point in being mean, guess that's just, What you get, When you forget to dream" *Nikos* ~Jewel~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 22:45:03 EST From: Harrisbros@aol.com Subject: B-Movie?!? Jewel played a natural born killer! ;-) There was a movie released in the theaters last weekend about a young girl who runs away from home with a fugitive from the law. Before long, she accidently kills an old woman in a strange country, then steals her shoes. After teaming up with a cornball idiot, a heartless ax-wielding man and a self-professed cowardly bully, she agrees to kill her victim's sister in exchange for political favors! During the ensuing crime spree, she and her accomplices steal apples, commit B&E (breaking and entering), infiltrate the local military and participate in numerous other illegal activities. By the end of the movie, she does indeed kill the second old woman, and shockingly takes her broom as a souvenir of the vile deed! And just 'cause she couldn't bear to part with those silly red shoes! * tsk-tsk * The relevance of this movie? Well,Jewel played the lead role in a stage production of this film a few years back! And it was also the first time I ever saw Jewel perform, in the November 1995 television broadcast of "The Wizard of Oz In Concert -- Dreams Come True". Highly recommended, it's widely available on CD and videocassette from TNT/Turner Home Entertainment. (Jewel's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" solo and dancing the jitterbug are both classic gems, BTW!) :-) Two points I wanna make here: One, EVERYTHING depends on your PERSPECTIVE of the situation... ;-) Two, Jewel gained valuable early acting experience while donating her talents to benefit the Children's Defense Fund. So from early on, Jewel showed her commitment to helping others and inspiring others to do likewise. Most importantly, she ACTED on this commitment. And we all know that's the true definition of an EveryDay Angel, right? Well, the "spirit" of an EDA, anyway! So, the question is: What's the spirit of this list, and how do we each contribute?
