Dear EDA's: Just wanted to bring something up that may strike a "curious" chord in many of you. Okay, as far as I know, this is all true, it comes from a very reliable source, my best friend. First of all, I live in San Diego, California, so there is one instance why the following story could have a remote possibily of validity. Okay, anyway, my best friends uncle is a movie producer in San Diego. Well, lets not say they are Titanic movies, but they are movies. Okay, so the names might be "Passionate Desires", "Bikini Car Wash", etc... You get the point... cheesy B-Rated movies. Well, he told his brother (my friends dad) that he remembers a young, attractive woman auditioning for a part in one of his movies. Well, it just so happened that this person's name was Jewel. You need to keep in mind, this was *before* Jewel started getting star-studded. Anyways, to this day, he swears to the Lion King's father, that this is the same Jewel that enthrals us on this mailing list. Another aspect of this story, is that I remember reading that Jewel was going to "slow" down on music, and try her luck at *acting.* Hmmm, and she is coming out with a movie soon, isn't she? Maybe her true desire is in acting. Now, true or not, before you go bashing this little 'rumor' please keep in mind that there are plenty of men signed on to this mailing list, and allow us (including me) some time just to envision Jewel wearing a bikini and washing a car... beautiful sight isn't it fellas? I tell you this story as I heard it, what do you think? These people would have to agree to make up to 5 dubs for other people if there is a demand. This is a five song demo and it knocked my socks off the first time I heard it. Jerra impressed me so much that I asked if I could start a website for her. Now http://members.aol.com/cwatkins/jerra.htm is Jerra's OFFICIAL website. I sent a copy to Mr.BB and he liked it and asked to be kept informed about Jerra. To learn how you can get a free tape of Jerra's "Good Times?" do the following: DON'T reply to jewel@smoe.org. DON'T reply to watkins@selway.umt.edu 1.Go to Jerra's web site http://members.aol.com/cwatkins/jerra.htm 2.Find my email address (not Jerra's) there and email me at that address requesting informations about the free tape. 3.Let me know if you want to be: 1) a 'branch' and get the free tape and make up to 5 copies for other people. Or, 2) a leaf and have one of the branches make a dub for you on a tape you provide. My goal is to sell all 65 of them myself in the first week. Of course, I may have moved to a new store to take over my new job as a manager in the book department by then, but I'm hoping to get a chance to push it. > ** Super Tuesday clogged with albums ** You know, they keep calling the 17th 'super Tuesday', but this week was really bad, too. The John Lennon Anthology came out, Alanis came out, the U2 B-Sides came out, the Rolling Stones live album came out, the Cardigans came out, it was crazy. BTW, U2 is outselling Alanis at my store. This is a Jewel fan thing, and it is not to criticize and watch over Jewel's every move thing. Everyone makes mistakes you know? That's cause everyone is human, and so is she. She has pointed this out to us several times. It would be nice to get back to more general things and not being so critical of everything. I'm not saying criticism is bad, I'm just saying there's a place where it should slow down and not go to far. We don't want to turn into anti-Jewel fans, and if you disagree I don't know what your doing on a list that is pro Jewel. I think you are speaking of the journal. It is not selling out but was made by her to encourage other people to write poetry. When someone says "go vote for jewel" there is no obligation for you to vote for jewel. They are just "campaigning" for a wonderful and talented singer (which I should mention this list is centered around) When a political ad comes on TV, do you write them and say "how dare you tell me to vote for you, I will make my own decisions", no. I just think it is not a big enough issue to argue about. I just listened to it. Hi fellow EDA's, I must be one of the happiest guys in Europe. I just got a promotional copy of the 'Spirit' album. I was convinced it would be a great album, but it's even better than that... There are only a couple of songs on it that remind me of the Jewel we know from POY. There are so many songs that introduce us to a whole new Jewel... some songs are a lot more 'rock' then she ever sounded on CD before (kinda like Sheryl Crow--esp. on 'Down So Long') And suprise, suprise... the CD contains a hidden track (you have to wait like six minutes after the last song before it starts)... It's called 'Little Bird' Songs I like most, after hearing the album for seven times now, are 'Do You ?' (Countryrock), 'Down So Long' (high single potential) and 'What Simple Is True' (ballad that gives you the shivers)... And then if course there are the 'standards' : 'Innocence Maintained', 'Fragile Flame-->now called Fatboy' and 'Enter From The East' So this really is a 'new' Jewel... she proves she is capable of suprising us all over again. Thanks to the people that provided me with this promo... only one more week before the official release (here we have it on November 13th -- only scary that this happens to be a friday) Jorgen...
