Anyway, the "article" is on page 33 in the "What's Going On" section. Here's a transcript: - --- 11/17- Jewel, SPIRIT (Atlantic) - Fot the follow-up to her mammoth "Pieces Of You", the Alaskan yodeler joins longtime Madonna collaborator Patrick Leonard; unline "Pieces", ost of the songs have been recorded with a full band. - --- Wow! Impressive article, huh?... - --Jon http://listen.to/ggta ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 08:03:05 -0700 (PDT) From: BenFrancis@webtv.net (Ben Simpelo) Subject: Jewel and the World Series There is an article in the Quest section of the San Diego Union-Tribune (page E8) this morning, talking about which musicians with San Diego connections should sing the national anthem at the World Series. A part of it says that there has been an attempt to get Jewel to sing it, but was unsuccessful. Here's the part of the story: Tim Young, the Padres' savvy entertainment director, also lobbied for Jewel to sing one of this week's anthems in San Diego. But the North County singer-songwriter was rejected by major league baseball on the grounds that she already did the anthem at this year's Super Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium. Fair enough. - ------------------- Ben S. the shortwave angel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 09:35:02 -0400 (EDT) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: MrBB-Ordering "Spirit" direct from Atlantic On Tue, 20 Oct 1998 ABershaw@aol.com wrote: > If you would enjoy having Jewel's new album "Spirit" > delivered right to your door on day of release, you can > advance order it online direct from Atlantic Records. > To do this, direct your browser to this ridiculously > long URL: > http://store.atlantic-records.com/store/product.asp?r=http://www.atlantic- > records.com/&l=atl&upc=075678295027&r=http://www.atlantic-records.com/jewel > > Then simply follow the pre-ordering instructions. MrBB Just to let everyone know: "We regret that we are unable to ship your order to Canada. Please change your shipping country or empty your shopping cart." I'm personally voting to move Canada to a small Caribean country, at least for the more icky parts of winter. :-) James. ========================================================================== James McGarry | jmcgarry@UoGuelph.CA - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An artist should be fit for the best society and keep out of it. - - John Ruskin ========================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 11:24:23 -0500 From: sesykes@juno.com (Too Hot For TV!) Subject: EDA Project Hello all you beautiful Angels!!! I was just thinking, ha ha no jokes. I was thinking about a project last night i think would be worth while. Something was said a few months ago about an EDA card or an ID card. I was just thinking how great it would be to be known as an EDA. Heck, this is the #1 Jewel list! I'm sure i'm not alone on this, but i think Jewel isn't gonna be a flash in the pan. And in 10 years or so i think she could be one of the greats! I tried thinking of one, Madonna, Tori Amos, And, unfortunately, Bette Midler (i'm not a fan!) Anyway, just think. In 10 years this list can have millions on it and to be known as an EDA would be so cool! Actually, it's so cool to be known as an EDA now! What i propose is that we have some kind of card or ID that maybe would have a variety of stuff about us and/or the EDA group. And if possible, a signature of Jewel. Also, i would like to see shirts, hats, etc.. Not necessarily Jewel paraphernalia but EDA stuff. What ya think? ** Scott S.** -Big Sexy Angel "PEACE CAN BECOME US ALL IF WE STAND UP AND TAKE A FALL!" http://homepage.usr.com/b/breezemaker ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 15:41:20 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: MrBB: Pre-ordering "Spirit" direct (better instructions) Hi again, Better & EASIER instructions: If you have a US Postal address, you can have Jewel's new album "Spirit" delivered direct to your door on release day from Atlantic Records. I tried >thinking of one, Madonna, Tori Amos, And, unfortunately, Bette Midler >(i'm not a fan!) What purpose would this serve? What do we need an ID card for? If it's sole purpose is to flash it around to all our friends, I think it's a bad idea. Jewel doesn't want to be put on a pedestal, so why should we? In my opinion, the card would only say to other, "I am better than you because I am an official EDA." Also I'm sure several new people join the list everyday. Who's going to keep making this card as long as new members are joining? Steve ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #566 ***************************
