I never knew this list meant so much to some people until I started hearing some of the reactions to the influx of random posts. It's a shame that such a small fraction of the list members could make you lose faith in the whole thing. I urge you to just hit the delete button for a while. Things have a way of coming full circle. - -- The innocence thing struck a chord with me cause it's something I was thinking of just yesterday. Like many, many people, I too was hurt in a big way not long ago. It seems to me that innocence (and many other things) are more of a state of mind than anything else. We know so little about this world. Innocence (i.m.h.o.) seems to be a way of recognizing the bad, but still seeking out the good, in others and ourselves. - -- I got Rare Angels, Radio Angels, + Future Folklore 3 from the Angelfood Bank a while back, and I'm not really collecting angelfood any more so I haven't taped them for anyone. I'd like to do a b+p for the first 10 [innocent ;)] people to e-mail me after noon tomorrow (Mon. 10/12). If you're interested in trading for other musicians instead, I have a list of shows I want at www.tapetrading.com/lists/m/c/mcainde@aol.com.html. Looking forward to hearing from you. :) michelle. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 13:41:07 -0700 From: fragileangel@juno.com (Mary H Nguyen) Subject: Re: NJC: Nancy Nguyen On Sun, 11 Oct 1998 15:08:03 -0500 Steve Hodgson writes: >About this Nancy Nguyen trashing. Enjoy, MrBB "HANDS" lyrics by Jewel Kilcher/music by Jewel Kilcher & Patrick Leonard If I could tell the world just one thing It would be that we’re all OK And not to worry ‘cause worry is wasteful And useless in times like these I won’t be made useless I won’t be idle with despair I will gather myself around my faith For light does the darkness most fear My hands are small, I know But they’re not yours, they are my own But they’re not yours, they are my own And I am never broken Poverty stole your golden shoes But it didn’t steal your laughter And heartache came to visit me But I knew it wasn’t ever after We’ll fight, not out of spite For someone must stand up for what’s right 'Cause where there’s a man who has no voice There ours shall go singing My hands are small I know But they’re not yours, they are my own But they’re not yours, they are my own And I am never broken In the end only kindness matters In the end only kindness matters I will get down on my knees, and I will pray I will get down on my knees, and I will pray I will get down on my knees, and I will pray My hands are small I know But they’re not yours, they are my own But they’re not yours, they are my own And I am never broken My hands are small I know But they’re not yours, they are my own But they’re not yours, they are my own And I am never broken We are never broken We are God’s eyes God’s hands God’s mind We are God’s eyes God’s hands God’s heart We are God’s eyes God’s hands God’s eyes We are God’s hands We are God’s hands ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 18:45:46 EDT From: CleoCrazy@aol.com Subject: ?!?!?!?! i used to proud of the fact i was on this, list... but now i'm embarrassed. feeling very un-crazy, chris :( ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 15:58:27 PDT From: "Taryn Pratzner" Subject: Re: hi ook this post is mean. it 's beyod mean. it just plain pisses me of. who cares if he is ??!?!?!?! you freaking bitch who everyou are. go to hell for that!!!! i am going to stick up for mark here. you had no RIGHT TO DO THAT!!!!!!!! - ----Original Message Follows---- From: Angeljlb96@aol.com Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 12:13:09 EDT To: jewel@smoe.org Subject: hi Mark Maxmouze is very gay. First off I only warned you guys about my troubles because I didn't want you to have to go through similar stress and worrying. If Nancy were to honestly explain to me why I never got my things back I would understand (Especially my video) But as it is , she seems to like, not liking me, which I cannot comprehend. I may sound like a bitter angel but it is because I have no closure from this bad experience. Anything would be better than nothing at this point. If Nancy were to say screw you, I hate you I won't return your things, at least I would have a little closure. As it is I have no idea what the status of my tapes are. I have been waiting since Jewel's birthday. An angel wrote to me: >ANyway I love Nancy and a lot of us know her and we can vouch that I'm sure >she meant no harm and she didn't _scam_ you.. if this is true (And I truly hope that it is) could anyone who know's her please ask her on my behalf. I would be truly greatful because she refuses to reply to my emails. At this point I have come to terms with never seeing my angelfood and birthday video(which I know she has let another EDA, maybe more, view without my permission, it was meant as a personal video for Jewel) I hope you can see that I am a sincere guy and I don't wish hate on anyone, there is enough hate in this world as it is. All I want my posts to achieve is a little understanding from my situation. What if the MP3s that you provide bootleggers, through your site, are used to create unauthorised CD's. Can you provide an assurance that this won't happen? And what about all the other places people can reach using the search engine you've got there? RAs aren't so much of an issue because the quality's lower - you can't make a good quality bootleg off them. There is no such problem with MP3s. Can you assure me that all 247 MP3s referred to on your site are from non-published sources? Isn't the only place Jewel ever performed 'Have a little faith in me' on the Phenomenon soundtrack? With such an extensive collection, it surprises me that you haven't been tracked down by a record company already ! > the fact is, living here in New Zealand it's not cheap getting Angelfood > sent from the States and the only way I really ever get to hear Jewel's > music is by way of RA's & MP3's... so what's so criminal in that??? I'm a Kiwi too Kim but that didn't stop me communicating with other list memebers and trading for tapes. In fact, I'm from Christchurch too (or was until recently) ... have you checked the membership list for other NZers and Australians on it? The argument that it's hard to get tapes doesn't hold water. When I was looking to trade for them I picked up 12 (+) tapes of them in less than 2 months. But like unlike Mark's attempt to solve this little problem (let's join hands and sing blah blah blah), and that "go back and listen to POY" solution, mine is way better (yes i am going out on a limb and saying that mine is better). I think it'd be a great if we'd just stop posting for the next 24 hours or so. Sort of a silent resolve. I think it's a little reminesent of Ghandi's fasting solutions (I know, I know those shouldn't even be compared to this, but who cares). If you really do appreciate Mike, do this make his job a little easier, just for today and tomorrow at least. Oh well, there's y pathetic attempt at a solution to this never ending prob. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 19:50:38 -0400 From: "Jonathon A. I finally went out and got Steve Poltz CD "One Left Shoe" I have to say it is wonderful. If you haven't gotten it yet, then I highly recommend it. I just caught the end of Hands on the radio. But I finally heard the whole thing on RA. I have to say it is also wonderful. Such a different style for Jewel, but I love it!!! I finally got Save the Linoleum for $45, it was worth it to me. While surfing the net one day, I saw that this guy had it in his CD collection, but at the top of the site it said "none of the Cd's are for sale". I thought it wouldnt hurt to ask, so I did, and I got it!! So if youre still looking, just remember, It never hurts to ask. Phyllis Barnaby is in the mail too. I can't wait to add Spirit to my collection. I also have to say that I have a new appreciation for list moderation. I didnt check my mail for 1 day, and when I returned, I had 250 messages. That could have bumped out important mail. I am kind of dissapointed in the EDA's (or at least some) for acting that way when let loose. I guess its just human nature though. With 1700 people youre bound to have some bad. regards, kevin *the so glad the list is back to normal angel* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 21:10:07 EDT From: HMN333@aol.com Subject: NJC: a friendly plea Well, I put off contributing my 2 cents for awhile now, but I couldn't any longer. Don't worry, I'm not going to get cocky with anyone, put anyone down, or write a bunch of useless rambling "just because I can". When I first found this list, I was overjoyed because Jewel is one of my favorite artists. It seemed so great that a bunch of fans could belong to list and share their opinions (both good and bad), in a friendly environment. I've been through quite a few flame-fests, but I knew that in the end, things would work themselves out not only because of the great moderating job done by Mike, but because true everyday angels always seem to see others' points of views in time. They may not agree, but they respect. For those of you who are going to say that I worship Jewel and everything she stands for, I assure you I do not. I believe that if a group of people can be brought together by one person's talent, that they will also be capable of working around all of this time wasting and needless flaming. Hopefully, I will be right and this too shall pass.
