"She's praying to God to take away her lonely When he pulled over on the side of the road" ...although that's sure as hell not what she actually says (doesn't even make any sense)... anybody got any other interpretations??? In truth, as long as the feeling/s or reaction/s the artist/writer is looking for are provoked it doesn't really matter how they got there. The term "Poetry critic" is just a farce. NOBODY sees even the most simple poem in the same way. If you want to intellectualize a poem, or in Jewel's case a song that might as well be one, then you could probably find a common ground and a nice lil debate may ensue, but the conclusions would be based on relative principles that only end up cheapening whatever poem is discussed. IF you have set up a tape trade with me, or if we are in the proccess of setting up a trade, please read and respond to this message. Due to some computer problems, my email file (which has all my info for my trades in progress) accidently got deleted. Thus, I need to get everyone's info again. If you have set up a trade with me that hasn't yet been completed, or if we are in the process of trading, I need you to reply to this message and include: - - Your name - - what you want or are wanting from me - - what you are sending me, or what you have offered me - - your address (if we've gotten that far) - - what the status of the trade is currently (i.e.: still trying to agree on what is going to be traded, or you've sent out your tapes, but haven't recieved anything from me yet, etc.) Sorry for any inconveniences. I'll start saving/recording messages in a different place so this won't happen again. Thanks, and hey, have a great day, everyday!!! HOBSON -- Calgary Sun HOLLYWOOD -- Singer Jewel was looking to her co-stars to save her soul in her film debut in Ang Lee's Ride With the Devil. Jewel is the female lead in this Civil War film, which stars Tobey Maguire and Skeet Ulrich. "It was intimidating for her. She was the only girl with 10 guys and making movies was foreign territory to her," says Maguire. He adds once the singer felt comfortable with the technical aspects of film-making, "she was a very different person. She was far more outgoing. To her credit, she held her own." Maguire knows what it's like to be learning on the spot. "I'd never ridden a horse. My first day in the saddle, my riding instructor just shook his head. He told me if I insisted on gripping the saddle horn, it would be a dead giveaway." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 12:31:21 -0700 From: Albert.Bohorquez@aacn.org Subject: NJC: Need some OPINIONS please... I look forward to getting a lot of feedback. (Please reply to me privately and not to the list) Feel free to let me know if you want to be added to her mailing list. I have about 30 Jewel VHS videos with about 60 hours of unrepeated Jewel. Footage ranges from American TV shows and concerts to overseas TV shows and interviews. So far I have only been able to make Videos for the American VCRs (NTSC format), but now I found a place that can have them converted to play in overseas VCRs (PAL format) for nominal fee. Let me know if you are interested, and I'll send you my list and instructions to get some Jewel on video in PAL format. Of course if you are in the USA and would simply like some Jewel on video in standard format for the American VCRs, drop me an e-mail. My cat died today at 13 years old. This, and the fact that my dog died less than two months ago, has really left me hurting as I was close to both animals. I even had my senior portrait taken with my cat. I miss both very much and would appreciate it if anyone who feel so inclined would play "Amen" once today in memory of Llyan and Pounder. This song helped me get through the loss of my dog two months ago, and I will call on it to help me through the loss of my cat right now. I find comfort in the fact that I NEVER walked through the door without immediately searching out and saying 'hi' with a quick pat on the head to both pets. Llyan, Pounder...I love you!
