I wouldn't take that article too much to heart... I mean, not that I would know first hand or anything, but Jewel and Sean have both denied that they had a romantic involvement (and I can't imagine a reason for them to lie about that), and didn't I hear that the model thing was phony, too? What the show is, is basically there is a movie ("Maximum Overdrive", I think it's one of those about a truck that becomes possessed/haunted/self-automated/etc. and starts killing people) and the host and guests do stuff between the movie and the commercial breaks. I know, it isn't the best show ever, but with Steve, it should be fun. Just thought I'd let y'all know, just in case you were interested. and hey, have a great day, everyday!!! Well I dunno. Anyway, that sounds like pretty trashy > journalism. Well, i won't take that article serious either. I've heard that Jewel was dating Jean Claud Van Dam(sp?), and apparently it was just a stupid rumour(i never believed it a minute), though it is true that Jewel dated that French model for awhile since she had admitted it and been spotted with him several times in public. i don't really care too much whom Jewel is/was dating but i hate those made-up stories by tabloids...they are paper-wasting crap. - -Vicky the taiwanese angel Making life a beautiful art, the art then retaining life--Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Sep 1998 03:04:43 PDT From: "Seth Pride" Subject: somE peoplE calL mE a spacE cowboY - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "What you mean WE white man?" I didn't do any of these things and neither did 1850 of the other people on the list??? Be nice if a few more of you 1900 people on the list, sheesh was 1700 a month ago, would speak up once in a while. The same 50 people's input and insight tends to get stale. since I'm posting I might as well say that both titles are equally boring. Sure, I mean the word hands and the word spirit are both nice and simplistic, they even provoke a little thought and a feeling or two, but they are not exactly show stopping-RIP YOUR HEART OUT AND SHOW IT TO YA!!! shocking. Which is what blows my hair back. This is a discussion about the title of an album and how I like them, not about Jewel making a mistake in naming the thing one way or another. What do you view as a mistake anyway? Because you don't like something or you for some reason think the effect of something will be negative, it's a mistake? Hate to tell you this, but you have every bit as much of a chance at bein wrong as right, and your opinion matters as little as mine. Anyway, off the subject as usual I'll jump back on. When I learned there was more to Jewel besides PoY a year or two ago, the first song I hadn't heard, and wanted to was Carnivore-because of the title. I didn't wanna hear fragile flame/fat boy *not even gonna touch that string* or little Miss Mophit sat on a pillow of daisies. I am just drawn to that more than the other. Don't get me wrong, I like it when her music holds me and strokes back my hair, but I LOVE it when she rapes my emotions. If she wants to name it "Spirit", "Hands", or "Attack of The Koockybakan Shamans"*wink Jen*, That's her perogative. Of coarse just cuz It doesn't strike a chord in me doesn't take away your right to care about it. I'm just sayin the chic hooked me and keeps reelin me in. I'll buy her next album if it's called "Why My Horse Smells Like Bamboo". I can like one title more than the next, but the only real impact it's gonna have for me is which song I skim to first. Unless she had 2 albums to choose from and I could only afford one, I'd snag whichever genre I wanted to hear more of. If she names it Hands because it somehow reflects her, then kudos, as an artist it would be pretty dumb for her to name it "Shoot Your Foot and Docey Doe" if it didn't mean anything. She's obviously wants to make money but if she sacrifices integrity, she's just another sell-out. She isn't though so more power to her. It's nice that the we can all discuss it and pretend what we think is really important and all, but in the end if she changed the title because the public, the EDA's, or anyone else wanted her 2...She wouldn't be Jewel, and I'd bite through the line. Bust out the balefire, privately though Ask not for whom the bell tolls, It tolls for Thee. -Donne Genuine philosophy leads to action and from action back again to wonder, to the enduring fact of mystery.-Henry Miller The feeling of wonder is the mark of the philosopher, for all philosophy has its origins in wonder.-Plato A man becomes just by the performance of the just...actions; nor is there the smallest likelihood of a man's becoming good by any other coarse of conduct. It is not, however, a popular line to take, most men preferring theory to practice under the impression that arguing about morals proves them to be philosophers, and that in this way they will turn out to be fine characters. -Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics I would leave with a normal quote but somehow I hesitate to follow Miller, Plato and Aristotle, ah hell....just stay real and if possible realistic. *chuckle* realistic is relative though isn't it, Seth Pride ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Sep 1998 11:33:57 EDT From: owner-jewel@smoe.org Subject: NJC: AOL EDA's & Christopher Douglas Ok, maybe i am a complete idiot.
