Tell me what you and yet another mystery solved!!! the "Jewel" is actually a songwriting credit so it should probably say "Jewel Kilcher" as she usually uses her full name for anything other than performing music (ie. writing, acting)... so I guess they're just jazz interpretations of Foolish Games... don't know about "For The Last Time" though, I did a search but it wouldn't find it... all I can think of is that it's a song by the rapper Jewell and somebody made a typo but I'm really not sure... Article in USA Today! hi folks :-) In the Wednesday USA Today at the bottom of the Life section (purple section) there's an article about some dude in New York City who has published a look-a-like page-by-page response book to "a night without armor" that he calls "a night without armor II: the revenge". The cover looks like Jewel's ANWA but has his picture. Apparently he's matched each of Jewels' poems in the book with a response-poem that is similar to her poem in the book. Before anyone tears him/this apart, apparently he's a fan...."I was fascinated by Jewel, because rarely do young people get poetry books published....." yadda, yadda, yadda. Anyway, when I get home I'll post the entire text of the article, but those with web access can likely find it on the USA Today page at http://www.usatodat.com and then click on the link to the "Life" section. If some of you had trouble finding it on the web site, the direct link is http://www.usatoday.com/life/enter/books/b697.htm It's too bad, but the website shows a picture of Jewel's book, while the newspaper shows a picture of the guys' book, which is identical to ANWA, except HIS picture is on the cover. Mike :-) **** A Rare Jewel Of A Poetic Parody **** Imitation isn't always flattery. Sometimes it's mockery. Chinese-American writer Beau Sia, 22, has penned a sly page-by-page response to folk-pop singer Jewel's best seller, a night without armor. He wrote the sendup, a night without armor II: the revenge (Mouth Almighty Books, $10), just after graduating from New York University's film school in June. Hers is flowery and sensitive. His is wry and absurd. "I think Beau did it out of boredom," says Mouth chief Bill Adler. "He saw the book in our office, took it home and rewrote all her poetry to amuse himself." Impressed, Adler offered to publish it as the first title from Mouth's book imprint. Revenge, in stores now, coincides with the debut of Sia's hip-hop/comedy CD, Attack Attack Go! On her book cover, Jewel writes: "We talk slowly, about nothing, about movies, we stick to surface streets and find no meaning in cafe windows. I used to unwrap you! Tender layers unfolding." Sia scribbles on his: "I don't care what you think about the way I write. I die on the page every time. What do you know about push-ups? True love? Pressure? I am the product." Appropriating all 109 of her titles, he wrote new poems in four hours. Why bother? "I was just fascinated by Jewel, because rarely do young people get poetry books published," says Sia, the author of six unpublished poetry volumes. On a scale of 1 to 10, he ranks Jewel's works between 5 and 6. "But who am I to tell a millionaire how to write?" Sia initially resisted Adler's proposal to publish revenge. "It's so silly," he says, "and I worried that people would consider me a prankster riding on Jewel's success rather than a credible writer."
