One of the choices is Jewel! I couldn't really imagine Jewel as a Backstreet Girl :) I just thought I'd share that because I thought it was interesting... Speaking as a frequent reader, I have to say that I have mixed feelings. The style of the book is awkward, the language is contrived, and the tone is generally uncomfortable. However, I like the storyline, the characters are really great, and there are some moments where I literally laughed out loud. One thing that bothers me, though, is that although the character Jewel is playing is one of the more interesting, there seems to be no reason that she would be chosen to play it. the description is for dark hair and dark eyes, two things that Jewel obviously does not have. The characterization is almost that of, say, Winona Ryder. Oh, well, challenges are what acting is all about, so I hope she did well. I think we would all do well to read the book before seeing the film (always a good idea), but that's just my opinion. It's not a bad book, and I can see why it was chosen to be a film. It will almost undoubtedly adapt itself to the screen. Just because a movie is based on a book does not mean it has to stay loyal to it. And the fact that Jewel has blonde hair and the original character, before the SCREENPLAY was written, didn't does not mean it is a "challenge." Unless the hair color has to do with the plot, they can choose whoever they want to cast. The only time that physical appearance is important in casting is when it's about a black man -- they have to hire someone black, or if it's about an overweight man -- they have to hire someone overweight, etc. "Simon Birch" the new movie that just came out is about an "odd" little boy but the book had him odd for another reason than being a midget. - -- Mark ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Sep 1998 20:26:55 EDT From: QTPYSK8R2@aol.com Subject: NJC: poetry contest IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hi angels~ i am holding a poetry contest. The rules are easy send me one poem on love or humor.Include your name and e-mail addy on the e-mail.Thr deadline is tomarrow (Sunday) no exceptions!! if you win i will dub you 2 angelfood tapes of your choice. So get those entries in.The winner will be announced on tuesday. love always~jamie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Sep 1998 00:01:15 EDT From: AnglFromJC@aol.com Subject: Jewel chords Do any of you know where a website is that has the chords to any Jewel songs?
