I can totally see where Mr. BB is going with his post. He deemed it "controversial" because he is being put in a very difficult situation - he doesn't want it to seem as though everyone who wants to do something for Jewel is being selfish and naive. I am absolutely sure that those people completely thought out their ideas and believed to be doing a "good" thing for and/or inspired by Jewel. I think what he is trying to say is that we must LIMIT ourselves to how much, I'll say, "Jewel good" we can do. I mean if we name stars, draw angelbooks, make quilts, what's to stop the next people from doing infinite other projects, even if they are thought out in the most heartfelt way. I say if Jewel inspires you to do "good" things, then go ahead and do them! Volunteer at a hospital, organize a community clean-up, have a block party, and most of all, Do It For Yourself! You don't have to tell anyone it was inspired by Jewel, you don't have to post to the list you're doing it because of Jewel, in fact, being people, we should have the motivation to do great things without the inspiration of Jewel; but if she makes you want to help others that much more, go ahead but remember you can always keep it to yourself. "Foolish Games" in particular inspired me to start playing the piano (yes, it moved me THAT much...) I'm sorry about bugging all of you with this, but I was just wondering if there was any way I could get a copy of the piano notes for "Foolish Games", or any other Jewel song for that matter. If you know of anything, please e-mail me ASAP. Thanks, and take care everyone! I don't know if you guys remember this, but a few months ago I set up a poll to settle an arguement between me and my friend Priscilla (prism14960@aol.com). We were fighting over a word in the song "Without You By My Side". The line was... ~It's the little things I never thought about much, but miss most in the end...like those _______ red wine kisses, and the candlelight and the poetry...~ Well...Cilla thought it was sweet and I swore it to be sleepy. The poll showed a landslide of something like 24 sleepy, 2 sweet, but CIlla still wouldn't accept it =) WELL...2 days ago...she confessed. She was listening to an RA of it...and after hearing the song HUNDREDS of time...she finally heard sleepy...SO YEA!!!!! IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR BUT I FINALLY GOT HER IN MY GRASP!!! umm...sorry, anyway, so change it on your lyrics pages if you're up to it (INCLUDING you Cilla =)) Love, Jamie *the everyotherday angel* http://members.aol.com/angeljlb96/grey-matter.html ~How quick my heart wants to believe I'll never be lonely again~ JK ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Aug 1998 08:17:20 -0400 From: lklecanda@juno.com (Lisa A Klecanda) Subject: NJC: Here's an idea! Hi! Someone posted about poetry, & it gave me an idea. I don't know if it's already been done or even thought of, but here's my idea-- why don't we put together our own poetry book? I was cleaning out my closet the other day and found an old magazine from Egland called "Q". There is a pretty good sized picture of Jewel with Roger Daltrey and Jackson Browne. The caption reads: Aluminum Excess? That'll do nicely, thank you... for a trout farmer who has fallen victim to an unfortunate bucket/hat mix-up. Roger "Gargoyle?Where?" Daltrey amd Jackson Browne sport appropriate fancy dress costumes and a not-so-relevant girl called Jewel (an American singer-songwriter dubbed "the new Bob Dylan" by Sean Penn) at the Wizard of Oz-themed All Star Benefit for the Children's Defence Fund in New York on what we folks over here like to call Guy Fawkes Night. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Aug 1998 16:20:38 EDT From: JDeanrulz@aol.com Subject: Re: EDA Projects-Controversial opinion from me? Try'd to avoid this but it's time for JD's two cents. Everyone on this list has a right to put their time towards any project that they feel worthy. Wether that means making a quilt for Jewel or for a children's hospital. If a group of us want to get together to make a quilt for Jewel then there really shouldn't be any discussion about it. If you think it's a better idea to make one for a children't hospital then go ahead no one's stopping you. No one should be made to feel guilty because they would rather make a quilt for Jewel. Fans do that kind of thing. And that's while were all here in the first place, because we are fans. - - JD ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Aug 1998 12:53:25 PDT From: "Chris Sylvester" Subject: poetry + web page = soloution to something or other! hey all! its been a little since my last post (and all the unread mail that i had was just deleted off my hotmail account. @#$%it!). but i was wondering (i only got the last 2 posts, so i missed something.) what book? theres been talk of some project like a book or something, and i have no idea what it is. ok. for the poetry thing. im werkin on a webpage (its gonna be a while before i get it up. my friend wantz javascript...), and i'm already going to include a poetry section for my stuff. but if i get a few poems from the EDA's, i can make a hypertext body link to them and stick them on my page with mine! whadd'ya think? and if any of you wunderful EDA's out there have done this already, just let me know and email me the URL of your poetry page, and i'll link to yours. since so many of us have web pages 'n stuff (there's the 'n stuff part of the subject!), i wuz thinking we could try to make a "web community" for EDA's. actually, i just got the idea while writting the post, but it's still a good one I think. so when i get my page up and running (or at least enough to call it a page), i'll let y'all know, and maybe you could send me your url's, and i'll probably post mine, and we could have links to everybody's page all set up on everybody else's page, and if only a few get submitted to places like the ILE (international link exchange), and SE's (search engines) (sorry, i was just studying my ROTC manual, and i'm in the habit of abbreviating. cpo, po3 po2..... E5.... you get the idea) vell, let me know! (oh go ahead and send your poetry ASAP, as soon as possible, so that i can use it as a reason to get my friend to forget about javascript and just launch the page. then i can start getting lynx sooner, and we can all get more hits.) k? It's not too late! LRT (Joy & Lisa) schedule. Hi all, It's not too late to join in on the Living Room Tour! Since most of these gigs take place in or around EDA homes, attendance is limited. Don't wait til the last minute! Spaces are filling up fast, so contact the host in your area asap if you'd like to attend. This year, the two featured performers are Joy Eden Harrison & Lisa Sanders. Both of these talented women will be playing intimate solo performances unlike their regular club gigs with bands. They'll be covering new territory in North America on this LRT, & its a great opportunity for many to enjoy them live for the first time. From Chicago, Joy Eden Harrison will be debuting songs from her soon to be released 2nd album as well as songs from her bluesy/swingin debut album "Angel Town". San Diego songwriter Lisa Sanders will also be debuting new material as well as songs from her powerful debut CD "Isn't Life Fine". Both of these artists deserve your attention. LRT gigs are also a great opportunity to meet some of these folks who's posts fill your emailboxes every day. If you're wondering what makes this "EDA-thing" tick, these get-togethers are a major part of what its all about. What should I bring to an LRT gig? Other than yourselves, you only need to bring a minimum $10 donation for the musicians to offset their travel expenses, etc. It may also be a good idea to have some extra cash on hand if you'd enjoy purchasing an artists CD. At most LRT gigs, the artists do have tapes, CD's & sometimes tshirts available. Its always more enjoyable buying a CD from the artist directly for obvious reasons. On this upcoming LRT, Joy will have her first CD "Angel Town" & sneak-preview tapes of her new album freshly produced by Cindy Lee Berryhill. (Her new album is incredible!) Lisa will also have her wonderful debut CD "Isn't Life Fine" available (& t-shirts, I think). These recordings are often difficult to find on this side of the country, so here's an excellent opportunity to get them (autographed copies, no less!) if you've been looking. Another good thing to bring if its an outdoor show, is lawn furniture or a blanket to sit on. Food & drink is usually welcome & you can check with your hosts about how best to help them with that. Camera's, Camcorders & taping equipment is usually welcome too, but not always. Check with your host. If so, remember to have film & plenty of batteries & blanks, if this applies to you. (and get in touch with me, so we can add copies to the vast ever growing LRT Audio/Video Archive!) Thats pretty much all there is to it! Here's the upcoming Joy Eden Harrison & Lisa Sanders LRT dates. Hope to see many of you along the way!
