Finally somebody sees the point I've been trying to make for about a week now. :) The fan club could do *ANYTHING*. People are getting too blinded by the name "fan club", and assuming it means: "Stickers, an ID, a poster, and teenyboppers." If this fan club gets started by someone, it can take whatever form it wants. For lack of a better phrase, it's being called a fan club; that does not necessarily mean the final form would be "pay us US $30, and we'll send you a cheap poster, three stickers, and a once-a-year-newsletter." For all the people who think it would end up as a group of nothing but teenyboppers, why not take a hand in the idea process, and lend a little advice that would steer it *away* from that sort of thing, if you're so scared it will end up that way? There's a lot of possibilities. Just because the name says "fan club" doesn't mean it has to end up being a bunch of people wasting their money on cheap plastic keychains. - ---------- Kevin Pease kbpease@boston.crosswinds.net (ICQ UIN: 3106063) (AOL Instant Messenger: kbpease) http://www.crosswinds.net/boston/~kbpease "Been around the world and found that only stupid people are breeding, The cretins cloning and feeding, and I don't even own a TV..." ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Jul 1998 13:24:29 -0500 From: "gerdes" Subject: NJC: LAST CALL: MIDWEST GATHERING This is the last call for any midwest eda's who would like to attend the Lisa Loeb/Steve Poltz concert on August 5th at the Ranch Bowl in Omaha. If you are unaware of what's going on, or if during this week, you'd like to see Q & A's that have previously been posted, point your browser to: http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup/20q.htm Any Q & A's will be available for review here, once they've been posted. We also plan on doing this again, once in a while. Today's questions were originally submitted by Adina & Ty. Read on for Jewel's answers. Best wishes, MrBB ********************************************************* #9 submitted by casper31@juno.com (Adina F) Q: Jewel, Is there any possibility of having another Jewelstock for the EDA's? Adina Friedman Answer from Jewel: Yes, there is and we would have liked to have done it this year, but it doesn't look like it will happen. But I want to do another Jewelstock! ******************************************************** #8 submitted by: guru4u13@hotmail.com (Tyler Ayalin) Q: Jewel, everyone is aware of many of your amazing talents but I was wondering if you have any hidden talents unbeknownst to others. Something know one else can do, maybe like juggling blindfolded, eating an orange through a straw, or even just a joke you made up. Thanks, Ty Answer from Jewel: Cattle roping, and the ability to move every muscle on my face (including both upper eye lids and lower eye lids) simultaneously. ******************************************************** Stick around. Two more EDA questions & Jewel's answers will be posted tomorrow. MrBB ***************************************** And you may ask yourself: What cool gigs or LRT's are goin' on in my area?? And then you may take yourself to: http://thespis.com/crashboy/EDArtists/EDArtists.htm Where you'll go to the map, click your region & POOF! Okay, I don't usually post to the list with my opinions but I decided to this time. I don't understand what we would put in the newsleter/ fan club. What info could we give/ recieve that we can't on this list. Now, I realize that all people don't have internet access, but just about the only way we could promote the newsleter would be via THE INTERNET. I also don't understand how the new newsleter and fan club would be any more official that this list. As far as I know, Jewel's management has had nothing to do with the discussions we are having, and the only OFFICIAL fan clubs that I know of are run by the artist and their managment. Am I missing the point, or do I make complete sense? Just my two cents. - --Jon, The Confused Angel GGTA- http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Backstage/9849/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Jul 1998 19:36:23 PDT From: "Taryn Pratzner" Subject: I NEED ANGELFOOD i was wondering if anyone had any angelfood they wouldn'd mond dubbing for me. On the Emm Gryner tape I don't know the songs but there's a lot of excerpts and she talks about the songs and stuff.. it's called "Public Speaking" I'm wondering if anyone else heard of these... ttyl - -sunburnt linda, the lovable angel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Jul 1998 20:21:56 -0400 From: Rue-Snowden Subject: MTV Poetry reading Hello to all the angels out there. I just recently go back on the Jewel digest, so bare with me on these questions. I need to know if Jewel did the MTV midnight poetry reading May 19. I missed it. Did anybody catch it? Also interested in finding a video for the Virgin Megastore Reading, NYC, that was broadcast via-satellite to 13 other stores world-wide. I have an audience tape from it, but it's just not the same. I'm looking for the following Jewel tapes, please let me know if you have these 1) Orpheum theater, Boston 2/21/97 (80-90 min) 2) Washington DC 6/1/96 (2 songs Only-Frisbee Incident) I know these exist. I just can't find them. I'm sad to hear that Jewel feels that her Bearsville recordings are out of date & will never see the light of day. That's terrible. Just because we have access to those songs on live tapes, doesn't mean that the studio versions aren't worthy for CD release. Oh-well, maybe she'll change her mind.
