(I don't know what bandwidth is though.) I want to know WHO she is, we know some of her views but who is she as a person, as a friend? We only vaguely know her as a singer and hardly anything else. It's almost like this is a chance to get to know HER. I dunno, I think it would be cool if we could incorperate all different kinds of questions into this. I mean, this is the opportunity to do so. Tgus us under where it says "Muse to Muse" MUSE TO MUSE Every song writer is in their own songs, even if it from an observational stand point, or you could...... you couldn't translate them. You would be getting these song to translate, or you know, they would go to Jewel or something, and I'd get her songs, but obviously I don't, they come to her....um... ina way, that only she can interpret, and that's whats exciting I think about seeing yourself as a translator, instead of being the only creator, because obviously your not, and secondly you insult the muse when you do that. George of Jungle The pschedelic angel Tori Amos thinks of her songs as girls... the more you think about it, the more it makes sense... Each one has its own personality... These "girls" or "muses" or "faeries" or whatever you want to call them come to Tori as inspiration and she "translates" (as the Launch interview says...) what the muse brings to her. In other words, she argues and puts her two cents in as to what her songs will become. She said in the Rolling Stone Women of Rock issue, "I'll manipulate a song the way I want to 'cause I just like it that way. It's like I'm saying to the muse 'Look, if you don't want my input, go to Jewel.'" So I guess what Tori is saying is that Jewel takes full credit for creating her work, and doesn't always inject herself into the song... making the muse angry and insulted..... hmmmm..... I dunno that's just my two cents, guys.... ~ Laena the Faerie & Leyna the Angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jun 1998 02:22:35 EDT From: Angeljlb96@aol.com Subject: FANatic Hi everyone... I just wanted to tell you guys not to get your hopes up, becuase I think they already picked the people for Jewel's FANatic show. I know of 3 edas that were asked to participate in the selection process...me, Priscilla (prism14960@aol.com) and Justin (rfratz5@aol.com). We had to create a video that said we were "Jewel's biggest fan" Well...2 of those videos were made, and they said they'd contact us soon...but never did...so I'm going to assume they never picked us. I don't know...maybe you guys have a chance, but I really think they already picked the people. Jewel was suppose to be the star of the premiere...Mr. BB? Mike? Anyone know what happened to that? She's not on the commercial. P.S. I also heard that Jewel is going to be on FANatic. With the help of other musically inclined EDAs, there have been amass of guitar TABS that have been typed up and sent out to eager EDAs wanting to know how to play "a song" that isn't on the POY album. If your looking for a TAB or two, I could help you out. :-) Deep Water TAB? I've got it. Here's the reality of the situation for all those speculating: Jewel will NOT be on the July 6th Premier of this show, nor has she agreed to even participate in any such show in the future. Nothing has been taped & nothing is scheduled to be taped. I do know that MTV contacted several Jewel website owners & had quite a few people helping them with the concept of Jewel being a guest, but thats as far as it went. Apparently, MTV staff led many people on, claiming Jewel had agreed to do the show, when in reality she had not. So....bottom line is that Jewel will not be appearing on MTV Fanatic & is not scheduled to appear on the show. If at some point this changes & she does decide to do the show in the future, you'll be the first to know! :-) Also, a reminder to all Los Angeles area EDAs who are fans of Cindy Lee Berryhill: CLB will be doing a one off "Garage Orchestra-Unplugged Living Room Gig" on Thursday July 9th in Los Angeles. It will take place at a friend of CLB's home in Venice Beach at 8PM. This should be an amazing gig & I can't encourage "L.A. area folks" enough to attend this!! For those already familiar with the various Garage Orchestra personel, youre in for a special treat at this gig. CLB's extraordinary cellist Renatta Bratt will be rejoining the G.O. (for the first time since 1996) at this one off gig. As with many LRT gigs, attendance is limited, so you must contact paul@cdaddy.com for RSVPs & directions. Wish I could join you! The answer may lie in a Rolling >Stone cover that asks, "How did Jewel do it?" over a picture of the >pop star slipping off her jacket to reveal a tight bra top. Duh. Also I want to HIGHLY disagree w/ the next following statement in this dumb article: >Perhaps on record Jewel's lyrical incompetence is masked by her voice >and music. More likely, though, it's just her looks. As her Rolling >Stone cover unwittingly implies, it's all about breasts. No wonder >teenage girls get depressed.
