I wasn't able to find it in Nebraska where I live now and I don't know if it is available to many of you around the states. So if you can't find it and would like a copy I am willing to trade for angelfood. I bought three extra copies so far and I will gladly get more if you let me know by early tomorrow morning how many more to get. I know its not much notice but its all I can do as I am going back to Nebraska tomorrow morning. The book is a small paperback, not more than 170 pages, with several pages of color photos in the middle. I haven't had the chance to read the entire thing yet so I can't really tell you all about it. If you would like a copy just e-mail me at tomfaul@hotmail.com just to let me know that you want one and we can talk about trading later. Many more responded over the past few days & a very clear pattern was noted. "What would that pattern be?" you ask. Well... it's pretty obvious that most EDAs enjoyed the chats, but had two items of constructive criticism that were common. Those 2 items were: 1) With so many people online (& the AOL moderator asking far too many questions himself), few EDAs were able to even ask Jewel a question. 2) The questions asked of Jewel, were not that interesting to many EDAs who already knew most of the answers. Better & more interesting questions should have been asked. So.....Jewel would enjoy doing something special for the EDAs to address both of the above concerns. :-) Although, her website does not currently have chat technology, this is something they'll be working on for the future. Hopefully, "Special EDA-Invite only" chats will take place where a password sent out to the EDAs will let you participate sometime in the future. This is still a ways off & like I said, Jewel wants to address your Online Chat "feedback" & do something special for The EDAs NOW. So...Since she'll be wrapping up her movie in a few weeks & then heading back into the studio to record her new album, Jewel wants to take some time the week before the Jewelstock Anniversary (3rd weekend in July) to answer those burning EDA QUESTIONS. This experiment will work like this, for this 1st time around: The EDAs can come up with 20 questions that they, AS A GROUP deem the most important or interesting questions. I will forward the questions to Jewel. She'll pick 10 (or more if she has the time) & she'll answer 2 per day the weekdays prior to the 2nd Bearsville Reunion/Jewelstock Anniversary (July 17th through the 19th). NOW, here's the part all of you must figure out calmly & intelligently-- The EDAs can ask Jewel ANY 20 questions. WHAT ARE those more intelligent, better questions you wished EDAs had been given the opportunity to ask? What is it that the EDAs really want to know? IMPORTANT!! READ ON! PLEASE, DO NOT HIT REPLY! I personally cannot collect these questions & decide what's important to The EDAs (& I'm not comfortable doing so, anyway). So, YOU (as a group) will decide with the help of a selected panel of volunteer EDAs who will deem which ones will become the "Official EDA Question" possibilities. This must be done cooperatively as a list community. Since Mike Connell, your trusty list manager, knows more people on the list than anyone, he is going to pick the six panelists from the group of EDA volunteers. By Monday evening, the panel will be in place & ready for all EDAs to submit their ONE question to the panel. (Instructions will be posted at THAT time where to send your question. So be thinking up a good one in the meantime!) If you can devote a couple of hours or so a day/night to this panel (from next Monday to maybe next Friday) & would enjoy it, please volunteer by sending an email TO Mike (NOT ME!) with "20Q" in the subject line to: Ducksoup@spectra.net You are also welcome to explain why you'd like the job if you like, but it's not necessary. During this project next week, Mike will post some of the best questions each night to the Jewel lists (in one post) so all can see what's going on & read some of those incredibly intelligent questions. :-) The 6 member panel's job will be to take all the submitted questions and narrow them down to 30 to 40 questions, which will then be submitted to the Jewel lists for a vote. Details on this vote will be posted at THAT time, please do not ask questions about it now. (Personally, I think the coolest questions will simply rise to the top on general consensus.) I have every confidence that this CAN be done peacefully & cooperatively if you all calmly work together. That is crucial to the success of this experiment. So here's the 5 steps the EDAs will be accomplishing in the next week or so, hopefully: 1) Those who wish to volunteer for the 6 member panel are to NOW email Mike at ducksoup@spectra.net with "20Q" as the subject. 2) Mike will select the EDA Panel from the volunteers by Monday evening. 3) Sometime Monday the EDAs will get instructions on where/how to submit their questions to Jewel. Only ONE question per person please! :-) 4) This trusted panel will pick the best EDA questions & help to narrow it down to 30 or 40. These will be submitted to all for a vote, hopefully by next Friday. Voting instructions will be posted then & the 20 best questions will be selected. 5) Those 20 questions will be sent to me by July 1st (in approx 2 weeks) & I will give them to Jewel. The 20 questions must be agreed on by the panel & voting done, with all 20 questions submitted to me no later than JULY 1st. I will give them to Jewel & she'll answer 10 (or more) of them when she gets breaks over the following two weeks. The questions & Jewel's answers will be posted all week from July 12th through the 16th (probable dates). If there ever was an issue that deserved total focus of the lists, I would say, this is the one! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT JUST HIT REPLY TO ME. SEND YOUR IDEAS & INPUT TO YOUR FELLOW EDAS at Jewel@smoe.org ONLY!!!!! (Your actual questions to Jewel are to be submitted per instructions that will be posted early next week :-) This is an opportunity for The EDAs to let Jewel know what's most important/interesting to them. If you all come through & make this a cool experience for each other (& Jewel), she'll be more open to doing this again periodically & getting special EDA chats happening in the future. If I may interject one opinion (that you are free to consider or ignore) it would be to think carefully what you ask Jewel. What you ask reflects on all EDAs so I'd use this opportunity to get to know Jewel better & not waste it asking FOR things, such as Jewelstock2 or special favors. Of course, this is totally up to you all & I will forward whatever is deemed best by the EDAs. As most of you know, Jewel does appreciate the EDAs & to prove it, she's trying to give you both things that you asked for regarding the chats: 1) EDAs getting to ask some questions 2) Better/more intelligent questions Now its up to you to deliver on your end. I'll be out of town again & unable to assist you all during most of this. Mike, will be sending on further instructions to the lists periodically. Remember to help him get this together. And above all, keep this FUN for everyone & be thoughtful of others during this project. OK? Cool. Now get to it! Panelists volunteer to the address posted above & the rest of you start figuring out what The EDAs would like to ask her. Jewel will answer. :-) MrBB *************************************** NEW To the Jewel lists? They asked a bunch of musicians about their summer memories and Jewel was included. They have a cute little caricature of her too. Her answer is interesting and even gives a few more new details about her life in Homer. I don't have it, I just looked at it in the store, so if anyone could post it, it'd be appreciated because it's an interesting little article. By the way, is this the same one the EDAs are mentioned in? I didn't get a chance to look yet. Anyways, thanks. =) Peace, Priscilla. Just wanted to comment that I think the Jewel poetry contest on TV Gen that just ended was horrible. The poems were capped at 75 words. I was inspired to compose this spectacular poem with all kinds of imagery that portrayed a facet of human nature. (Sorry I can't be any more verbose, but I don't want anyone composing a similar poem. LOL.) Unfortunately, it was double the word limit, so I just ended up tying in some run-of-the-mill, uninspired, crappy love imagery, because I didn't want to defile my poem by somehow chopping it in half, and losing the meaning, feeling, and effort. And I even had to shorten the second poem by about 5 words. 75 words isn't a poem, it's a phrase. No offense to anyone who entered a 10-75 word poem that they're truly proud of, of course. ;-) Just wanted to comment. Oh, well. Later, all. - -Salinger99, The Philosopher Angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #333 ***************************
