Since Jewel has been filming her movies, has anyone else noticed that she does a kind of acting in interveiws. I noticed it most when she was on MTV Live. I think her personality has changed a TINY bit. Not in a bad way, but in a good way. I am really excited abou the movie, it sounds really good. But... I am just blabbering on, so I am going to stop now, hehe. If anyone else has noticed the acting, let me know, bye. Lesley P.S. He was very entertaining. (He even sang a song for my girlfriend and I...and called it the ballod of andy and sarah. it was funny. Something about how we were having kids, and I was always in trouble with the law. heheh) He also sang tthe theme from "Sesame Street" for two girls that were around 3 or 4 years old...and also sang a song to them saying that "he wanted a hug from them" the one little girl went up and hugged him, and it was very sweet. To my surprise, steve also hugged and kissed me...(kissed me on the cheek) He left the stage, and I approached him so he could sign my album cover, and he just smacked one on me...(I was slightly embarrased.) and now that I think of it...If Jewel Kissed Steve, and Steve Kissed me...In a weird way, Jewel has kissed me. hehe. Overall, he is a very entertaining person. The concert was nice. (only about 30 people there.) and it was super fun. I would reccomend taking in one of his shows. You won't be disappointed. ~andrew. Jewel might be making the CD this way in the idea that winter (snow/cold/ice) reminds her of Alaska, just a thought. Please note that if you intend to tape it, that it runs about an hour and three minutes, and VH1 is notorious for starting shows a few minutes early OR late, so lord knows exactly when it will start precisely. For those that haven't seen it, it's a very good show and a "must see", which features her singing on stage with her father Atz, and a song with her mother Lenedra. Well, one of my best friends works for a Virgin Megastore, so I thought I'd ask her about it. "I was told that all virgin megastores got 300 copies autographed." Now, I don't know how many Virgin Megastores there are in the US, but I had to say that I was at best, incredible sceptical. I don't believe that Jewel managed to sign all those copies. HOWEVER, if she didn't, and it is *provable* that she didn't, then surely they are breaking the law by advertising them as being signed by Jewel? Certainly here in the UK, that would be illegal. I don't entirely agree with that. It all matters, to someone, in some way. To me, it doesn't matter if the critics like it or if the industry backs it, it just matters that I like it (and if the artist likes it, that's a big bonus). The critics don't care if the GP likes it or if the industry likes it or if the artist likes it, it's all about them for them. The industry wants the GP (general population) to like it, in fact that's what concerns them the MOST. They don't even look at it as whether THEY like it or not, it's all about "will it sell?". They certainly aren't interested in how the artist feels about it. What YOU said, where it doesn't matter about the critics, the industry, or even the public, is a good frame of mind for the artist. But it's not true that it doesn't MATTER. Hey, I have a feeling that rant was pointless. I apologise if it was. > I believe music is like art...I may not be able to define it, but I know it > when I see it... I don't believe that Jewel > managed to sign all those copies. There are only 11 or 12 Virgin Megastores in the United States, that's 100% no-doubt-about-it certain (I just talked to the manager of the Times Square/NYC store). ALL existing stores got copies of the books. I was given a figure of "250 per store" before, and the reliable source was not certain that was a precise figure, so 300 does not seem unreasonable as far as how many a store got. Something to note....Jewel has certainly had more than enough time to sign about 3,600 books considering she'd been on location in Missouri/Kansas filming for the 11 or so weeks prior to the book's release, not to mention not doing any substantial touring since last fall. Y'know, one of the few things that's bugged me in the past about Jewel was that she always seemed to be acting in her interviews... it's like she has a script. Actually no, it's more like she has an arsenal of bon mots and prospective sound bites that she sprinkles her speech with... her interviews have always sounded fake to me. Of course, that could just be because she's so articulate... and is answering questions she's answered a MILLION times before... hm... yeah that's probably it. Don't underestimate her following. Jewel's first and only CD has sold in excess of 6 million copies, and she sang the National Anthem at this year's Super Bowl. And her new volume of poetry, A Night Without Armour, just debuted at No. 16 on The New York Times best-seller list. If only a quarter of the people who snatched up the album or bought the book go to see her in the movie, "Ride With the Devil" should enjoy healthy box office. Moreover, Jewel has emerged as a down-home sex symbol (check out the Web sites devoted to her, like the one that declares her "Goddess of the Spirit and Youth"). So there's considerable curiosity as to how she will negotiate this career shift. And even if some moviegoers show up in the anticipation that she'll fall on her face, they still have to pay to get in, right?
