Neither of us knew an Adrian but Mary Eperson is actually an elderly Piano teacher back in my home town of Homer. (when recently asked she told me she doesn't know an Adrian, either)" so it sounds to me like it is just a story that they wrote and made a song out of. i do feel however that whatever interpretations you come up with from the song are great never say that your interpretation is wrong just because it doesn't fit in with what others say. chris >Subject: Adrian >From: bluenote8@juno.com (Brian M Jauw) >I was wondering if anyone had any insight to the song Adrian? I always just looked at the song as Adrian's returning having stirred commotion 'cause nobody knew how to react to someone they thought shouldn't even be alive ("I'd turn the machines off", etc.). But you looked at it on a much deeper level. Hmm...even if that's not what Jewel intended, kudos to even thinking it up. I'm very impressed. Actually I think it wasn't supposed to read above a superficial level, because at the end, Jewel says "And she still comes to visit him on Sundays". BUT...maybe she visits his grave??? Perhaps yellow flowers that lie above his doorway (is that the right quote?) could mean that yellow flowers lie above his grave. His grave is now his home and the doorway is the outside of the grave. Woah, this analyzation stuff is cool. Mm__) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Jun 1998 14:50:31 EDT From: Sully289@aol.com Subject: JEWEL ON VH1 VOTE! Any insight or different ideas > are welcome. I've always taken it literally, but I'm fundamentally bad with symbolism... still, the way they talk about it, it sounds to me like he's still alive. For example, what machines would the townspeople be talking about if Adrian's not on life support right now? Of course, that part could be talking about BEFORE he died, if he did... but there's so much in the present tense... "he's like an unused toy / he's got big hands..." It's my interpretation that he's alive, but dead to the world. I feel like the tortured chorus is all about the frustration of him being THERE... but not THERE!!! Hi there, all you American EDAs, a few days ago (yes, I was very busy last week) the German news-channel nTV showed a little report about the consumption of the teenies in the USA. They named the WB network, showed clips from "Scream 2" and in the music-section: only Lee Anne Rimes and Jewel (in a party-dress). It was an American report which they synchronized. 'Cause CNN is often named as their partner-channel, perhaps a few of you have seen it and could tell me if it's a new or older one. (I only saw the end) Erik "the Viking Angel" People should stop talking about how much they love God, how much they love their family, and do something about it. - JK ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Jun 1998 17:01:21 -0400 From: "Thomas N. Vicki and I just moved into a 1/2 house in Denver, PA, so we have plenty of space, as long as we have confirmation on who will be staying. :-) Tom :-) - -- Thomas N. I've been taking guitar lessons since about Christmas, I have Jewels song book and can play most of her songs pretty well and some of them I seem to be really good at, I guess. I have some tapes of her playing her songs live, and I just CAN'T make them sound that good, of course, I'm not half the guitar player she is, but I have mastered the song the way it is in the book. If any guitar experienced angel out there could help me out I'd really appreciate it! :) Greg ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Jun 1998 11:53:05 -1000 From: Brent Masao Anbe Subject: curious questions for the month If any of these questions have been already discussed I apologize. 1.Could someone please explain the meaning of the song "Moon Over Austin" What or who is the "Hotel Angel" 2.Did Jewel dye her hair for the Who Will Save Your Soul video? (Or was it just the lighting) 3.We all know how busy Jewel is so when did she learn latin? In refrence to the latin arias on her upcoming album. (was it in high school?) Or perhaps she has someone who will transcribe her lyrics into Latin Any info would be great. Has anyone heard the song about a guy who killed his wife because he thought that she was being unfaithful (by cheating on him with his best friend: one who he asked to take care of her while he was gone) only to find out later that she was trying to fight his friend off instead...? If I remember correctly, she told the story before she sang; the song bagan with a guy sitting alone in a bar on a cold winter night. I heard this one at the first (or was it the second) Wikiup show and never heard her play it again to this day (I've seen her five times since then). If anyone has either of the two Wikiup shows on tape, please let me know. I remember that there was a person there with a tape recorder at the second show... -CA Angel in PA- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Jun 1998 20:37:13 -0000 From: msinghaus@msmisp.com (Melissa Singhaus) Subject: Walden books Went to Walden books today and saw the CD.
