I'm planning on going all by my lonesome, and I'd still be happy to give someone a ride if they need one. But if no one needs a ride, I hope I can meet some EDAs I've never met before at the store. =) Email me privately. cressyda@aol.com Jessa the complicated angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 May 1998 06:14:00 -0400 (EDT) From: msinghaus@msmisp.com (Melissa Singhaus) Subject: J Cards I was wondering if anyone had a sheet of any of the following I can send for so I can make copies of it for people. (MrBB's input) Hi everybody, Mike wrote, quoting Mr.BB : > Whatever song being spoken of must be a completely different original Jewel song that someone listed with an incorrect title on a tape.< Heres one of those darn copyrights things. See, when somebody writes a song they can copyright the song but the title of the piece is still public domain. Take for instance, since Im a very big DMB fan, Dave Matthews Band has a song out called "Satellite" and so does Jewel. Even though both songs have the same title, the lyrics are vastly different. I haven't heard "Wish You Were Here" from neither Jewel or Pink Floyd, but I suspect that the lyrics are different and Jewel isn't doing a cover song. GpA Alex ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 May 1998 06:39:50 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Jewel and todays' taping of the Charlie Rose show Hi folks, As a reminder, Jewel is TAPING the Charlie Rose show in NYC today, but it may or may not be shown today in your area. When I called the shows' execs last week, they said "Jewel is scheduled to be on Monday", which made it likely THEN that she would be on todays' aired show. However, the Charlie Rose show *quite often* changes its' airing schedule and since last Fridays' scheduled airing was bumped for a special Frank Sinatra tribute, lord only knows if they will bump Jewels' airing tonight in favor of what was supposed to air last Friday, or keep her show scheduled. (in either case, it SHOULD air within the next three days) The Charlie Rose show updates their web site each mid-morning eastern time, so I'll check it from work and post if I see anything that clarifies the situation. The show airs on PBS, and is syndicated on PBS stations, meaning it could be on any time of the day, or even regularly shown the next day on YOUR PBS station. So check your local listings. It's an hour long show, and it is not known when Jewel will be on during the show....Charlie usually has two or three guests, and usually gives equal time to his guests. (One more thing.....I don't know the exact time that the show will be TAPED, but I DO recall that one list member posted that in their area that the show aired at 4pm ET the laast time Jewel was on this show, so check your listings carefully, it may be on a lot earlier in the day where you are) Try not to miss this show...Charlie is one of the best interviewers there is on TV, in my opinion, as he really *interviews* his guests...it's not like your Leno/letterman appearances. Then for Dinner everyone can just get Pizza or something at FunTime America's little restaurant :-) Tammy :-) original post.......................................................................... .............................. Once again the Campbell Inn will be open for business to accommodate those interested in attending the East Coast EDAF kickoff event!!! For those of you who don't know, the EDAF (EveryDay Angels Foundation) is a nonprofit organization set up to primarily promote volunteerism in the communities. It is a separate entity from the Jewel list, but was inspired by Jewel and the list. For more info on the EDAF, visit the page at http://web.edaf.org/edaff/ or e-mail me at Tlcathome@aol.com with EDAF in the subject.. We will be volunteering at the FoodBank of New Jersey's warehouse on Saturday May 30th from 10am to 2pm. We are opening our home to wayward EDA's who plan to attend the event. However, space is limited and we expect a big turnout! Plan to bring pillows and sleeping bags and/or blankets. You must attend the FoodBank activity in order to take part in the rest of the weekend's events! If you can't attend the event, please volunteer at a food bank or soup kitchen in your own area - and e-mail me and let me know you're doing it!!!!. If you need help locating a food bank in your area, check out this site's food bank locator: http://www.secondharvest.org/websecha/f_getouc.htm - if you don't have web access, just let me know and I'll see if I can find one for you!!!! We will also be doing a mini food drive, so please plan to bring at least a little something to donate. They are in need of high protein canned foods in particular, such as canned meats, etc... I will keep everyone posted as to their donation needs as I contact them again. We will also be delivering the food obtained from the food drive my brownie troop will be doing in their school. Sometime after that on Saturday, the plan is to go to FunTime America and be juvenile and play video games, lazertag, ride bumper cars - whatever everyone wants to do there :-) There MAY even be a show by an EDA in the living room at some point during the weekend. Then back to the Campbell Inn for the night. So far nothing is planned for Sunday (unless we do the LR show then), but that could always change..... If you are interested or have questions, please respond to Tlcathome@aol.com with EDAF weekend in the subject. You can get more information about the food bank at http://www.njfoodbank.org/ Tammy :-) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 May 1998 10:08:07 -0400 From: "Thomas N. Anyone who has ever been to a gathering at rob and tammy's can vouch for how much fun we have. Remember EDAdventure?? :-) Not only is it a chance to meet new friends and catch up with old ones, it's a chance to do something for a good cause. The EDAF is a great organization, with lots of potential, but only if people get involved. For more info on EDAF, check out the homepage at http://www.theartof.com/edaf or email tammy at tlcathome@aol.com. See everyone there!! Tom :-) ps - If anyone in the lancaster, philly, or northern nj areas needs a ride friday night, let me know. We've got space right now for 2 people. Thanks!! - -- Thomas N. Anyways i remember someone talking about what it would be rated, and i don't know how much they'll stick to the book, but If they do @ all , i'm thinking "R" , maybe "PG-13" if they can scrape it. But overall it's a really good book and if you enjoy reading @ all, Find yourself a copy. I've always got a book in my hand and I love classics [Moby DIck, Withering Heights and all those] So i know a good book when I find it.
