I know most of you know this, but there are sum who don't. First of all, the dedicated person doing the card is Jennie, not me. I offered to put some late card entries on my homepage because I thought it might be easier for Jennie to access them, since she has limited email access now that she's home from school. I do not know which emails or snail mails she received, since she's in Indiana and I'm in Israel, which I think you all can tell is far away. Now, for the people wanting to be in the card, sorry, too late. The absolutely last deadline was yesterday afternoon, though I strecthed it out to yesterday middle of the night. I got one this morning, which I'll get in, but THAT"S IT! Sharon P.S. Sorry to sound not very friendly, but it's a bit frustrating having to read a few emails that are the same, and basically asking questions either me or Jennie already posted the answers to. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 May 1998 08:40:20 EDT From: KNicky3116 Subject: signed book Hello everyone! I know many people have asked for similar favors, but is there one kind person who is going to the NY book signing who could get a signed book for me? I don't mean to be a pain, but I live in Rhode Island and there is no way I can get there. Let's see, my name is Nicole, I'm 16, and I'll even send you some angelfood you may not have if you can get me a signed copy of her book. I'll of course pay you back also! I will be forever grateful if one of you is kind enough to help me out!! Please? Anyone? Hi I know this is a repeated question, but does anyone know if the poetry book will be released in the UK? If not, would any of you be willing to buy me a copy (I'll pay!) or will it be available at the jeweljk.com store? Please answer my questions :) Tom Hall (The Pink Lemonade Angel) - ---------------------------------------------------- dough.boys@megabit.net - ---------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 May 1998 12:11:01 EDT From: ABershaw Subject: MrBB-Tracklist & info on Jewel's Poetry CD Good Morning all, I highly suggest anyone who plans on buying the CD version of Jewel's "A Night Without Armour" save or print out this post. It'll help you immensely when you get the CD next week or in the near future. (It will be released along with her book next Tuesday May 19th & should be available from any bookstore selling the book.) In March, Jewel took a a few days off from filming her movie in Kansas City & went into a local studio to record herself reciting all the poetry featured in her upcoming book. Over the course of the next month, these recordings where arranged & edited to fill a CDs worth of time. Because of the "time crunch", Harper-Collins was unable to include this finalized tracklisting on the graphics on this 1st pressing of the" A Night Without Armour" CD. I'm told this will be corrected on future pressings, but for now, you'll have a CD with 87(!) tracks & no way to identify what tracks they are. This could drive you nuts should you enjoy programming or listening to any individual track. Since the tracks are not in the same order as the book & not all of the poems in the book are included, this tracklist may come in very handy to you. OK, here's the official tracklist on Jewel's spoken word CD version of "A Night Without Armour". It's a cut & paste from my database, so I hope it formats readably on your various email systems. I sent this list to Bibi & she may include a permanent link to it on Jewel's website. Perhaps Adam & Mike can also keep a link on the POJ & EDA Websites as well, for helping others in the future. Thanks, Lennie (tallest eda) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 May 1998 16:36:52 EDT From: DmBear978 Subject: SJC: Steve Poltz in the news! Hi Everybody, I pulled this out of todays(Tues.) LA Times Orange County Edition, Calandar section. Steve Poltz Pulls a Slow One Pop Music: In what he says is a 'complete 180,' the Rugburns' leader ditches the rowdiness for solo flight into sincerity. Is it too much to ask of a fan base to embrace the sensitive side of a guy who has worn a pink dress onstage fronting an unruly, irreverant rock band? Singer-songwriter-guitarist Steve Poltz will soon find out. The front man of the San Diego-based Rugburns just hit the road in support or his brand-new solo debut, "One Left Shoe" (Mercury Records), an introspective song-cycle of romantic ups and downs, Poltz, who plays Wednesday ath the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, says he just had to plunge ahead. "All signs are pointing me to do this right now," Poltz, 37, said recently by phone from a tour stop in Manhattan. " I will do another Rugburns record, but after 12 years with the same group, I just wanted to take a break for a while and do something that was a complete 180." "This project is like my alter ego in a lot of ways. I've always been a romantic at heart, and I like stories within songs. There's always been one or two in that vein on each Rugburns ablum. Only with this solo tour, I can do quieter songs and not have people expecting to hear one rowdy song after another." Many people are familar with Poltz's work -- but just don't know it. He co-wrote Jewel's smash hit"You Were Ment For Me" and co-starred with his former girlfriend in the much-aired video. She returns the favor on "OLS" by adding background vocals and co-writing four songs, including the bittersweet ballad "Silver Linning." Also lending a hand were {snip}(listing of band members names and past groups they had played with) {paste} "Its kinda like in that movie 'Donnie Brasco,' when Lefty(Al Pacino) introduces Donnie(Johnny Depp) to his Mafia pals by saying,"This is a friend of ours.' Sometimes you just need the right introduction," said Poltz, the Nova-Scotia-born son of an air-conditioning salesman. "These guys are all such good players, but it's not about fancy licks and stroking egos. They were there to make the songs better." Although poignant, serious-minded numbers are abundant on "OLS," Poltz hasn't ditched his charming if slightly warped sense of humor. The tracks range from playful("Impala", "Krikor's Waltz") to downright twisted ("Kicking Distance"). "You gotta remember, you're talking to a guy who wrote 'Uncle Reggie's Pantyhose' and 'My Carphone's on the Pill,' " Poltz said. " I mean, I love the unashamed sarcasm of people like Loudon Wainwright and Randy Newman. I find their mix of insight, irony and comedy to truly be an inpiration." Steve Poltz, Roger Smith, and St. Monday perform Wednesday at the Coach House, 33157 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano. 8pm $8 -$10 (949) 496-8930.
