Alan talked about his involvement with the Kilcher family and a few of their projects and especially noted a partiality for them. We can all trust Alan for his judgment, but for someone who might be new and/or skeptical it might be beneficial to hear someone else's take on the page. Or perhaps your just taking your time seeing the site and you need another push. Like all of you I am a big Jewel fan and like some I have been for a long time. My partiality certainly could be questioned because of my long-standing interest in Jewel and her Alaskan heritage, however I am not as close to the Kilcher family as Alan. (In fact, I know NO ONE in the family personally) As Alan suggested I visited Stellavera's site. I'm finding the same lack of ability to describe my utter amazement and enchantment for it as I did back in the "old" days when it was necessary to actually describe the "up-and-coming" Jewel to my friends. Few things in life touch a such personal and sometimes dormant chord in your body, and even fewer times in life are those chords so beautifully enhanced and melodiously played. (in Jewel's case, LITERALLY) Jewel's grandfather, Yule, is truly a man to admire. His strength has and will continue to exceed my own and many people I know. People need men like Yule to remind them of what it is to really love and care for your family, and indeed your own happiness will follow. He is as visionary as an eagle taken to flight and as stable as the rocks imbedded in the earth below. With such strength and love it's easy to see how such an amazing family was born. There is no doubt in my mind that your environment has a great deal to do with your character and Alaska seems to be nothing short of spectacular. The perfect blend of easy enough to love and hard enough to grow in. Specifically you will find information on the Kilcher family, traditions and passions. This was all stated by Alan. It -is- a Store and many things are for sale. (be warned, EVERYTHING will be appealing) However there is something you can get there for free besides wonderful pictures of the Kilcher family. It's a small wav. file of a bird chirping by a stream that was recorded on the Kilcher Homestead. Just the kind of small thing that could go unnoticed but means the world to people like me. For my part it wasn't the obvious things that I found appealing, but the small things. Stellavera's obvious love for her father and for Alaska, the simple drawings in the background, and the lack of "selling". Stellavera, sells things on this site, but she never-EVER "sells" them. It'd be best to say she "offers" things. You can almost sense a sweet inviting smile on her face the whole time your there. Trust Alan. Trust me. Go see the site. It's more amazing than I can say, and god knows I tried. http://www.kilcheralaskastore.com - -Bruce ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #249 ***************************
