Upon checking my P.O. I don't recall ever signing up on any Steve Poltz mailing list of any kind but who knows what I do in my sleep :P I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get more? Oh..just in case you are wondering..I DO have Steve's album and it's great :) The postcard has the same photo on the front as his album does. I spent all night looking for some Jewel lyrics but finally gave up (You have to look at them randomly one at a time). I decided to type in Lyric #23 and see what came up, because 23 is my lucky number (which makes me laugh that Jewel was born on the 23rd and is 23). And, sure enough, there was Jewel. Title: You Were Meant For Me Artist: Jewel The real lyrics were: "I kinda like it in my brand new place." But I misheard them as: "I found a maggot in my bran-oat flakes." Check it out -- http://www.kissthisguy.com/archive/lyric23.html Mm__) P.S. I always thought it was "Didi, do you wanna catch a cold with me?" instead of "Do you, do you?" but I can't use that since Cold Song isn't a popular one. P.P.S. "You're So Vain, you probably think this song about you" was used in "God's Gift To Women" and it was incorrectly listed as "You're so lame, you probably think this song is about you." and "Kurt Cobain, you probably think this song is about you". ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 15:33:00 +0200 From: michiel van gorkum Subject: question for eda's all over the world:)) Hello Jewelfans, I am a boy from holland who likes Jewel very much...i have collected some nice gigs of her so far...but i am really looking for the jeweltape Live at Paradiso Amsterdam..as i'm from holland , i would really have this concert on tape from her...Jewel was on tour in holland in october or november of 1997...so if there is somebody who has this recording let me know... thanks for all your help :)) Michiel Jewelfan in Holland ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 07:24:24 -0600 (MDT) From: Charlie Watkins Subject: Re: Jewel misheard lyrics The most often misheard lyric I've seen mentioned is from I'm Sensitive . Unfortunately for me, exactly what I feared happening IS HAPPENING. Yesterday alone, I received 14 individual requests from EDAs who plan on doing their own videos or birthday cards. All are requesting or demanding that I separately give Jewel their personal "item" on her birthday. This morning I woke up to find 22 more of the same in my mailbox! As much as I love The EDAs, I see this rapidly approaching an impossible situation & its making me extremely uncomfortable. As I originally offered: IF the co-ordinators or the EDA-project list is capable of organizing ONE CARD & ONE VIDEO that can include all EDAs that want to participate, I'm most happy to make sure Jewel gets these 2 (ONLY) things from the EDAS (as a group) on her birthday. Otherwise, I'll be forced to withdraw my offer to forward anything to Jewel on her birthday. The key to this, as far as I'm concerned, is the difference between INDIVIDUAL requests & the EDAs AS ONE great group of people. I'm always happy to help the EDAs "as a group", but I never forward personal messages, gifts or requests to Jewel. I already have numerous people pissed off at me because they don't understand this. I am not a personal message or gift relay service to Jewel. If I was, I'd have no life! If the folks on the EDA-Project list are unable to organize these projects, then anyone who wants to send Jewel ANYTHING for her birthday will be encouraged to send it individually to the PO Box address in the POY CD or via the email address on the website. Mike C has spoken to Bibi & she can look out for whatever is sent to that address if it comes to this..... I want to help you all by making these birthday projects more personal. However, its totally up to you to organize as a group, co-operate & work together on the 2 chosen projects in time for her birthday. I hate dissipointing all these people who feel that their gift/message is more important than everyone else's, but it's not my job to forward INDIVIDUAL messages, gifts or birthday greetings. That's what the POBox address & email on Jewel's website is specifically set up for. I'm not backing out on my original offer, but its totally up to The EDAs to WORK TOGETHER on this. You should be reading this if you're participating in the Jewel video birthday project whether you're organizing a gathering or making a video. I urge you to participate as this is the actual video that will go directly TO JEWEL THROUGH THE HANDS OF MR.BB! IF YOU AREN'T PARTICIPATING IN THIS VIDEO THAN ALL OTHER VIDEOS MUST BE SENT TO THE ADDRESS GIVEN ON THE POY CD. This will get a bit lengthy, but only so that I only have to post once instead of multiple times. In this post you'll get all the rules, details, etc. for the video project. If you're participating in a gathering, speak with your area's organizer for details. KEITH: (keith.schmolze@MCI2000.com) New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey SKYE: (Skye01@aol.com) Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi NANCY: (oink916_nsan@hotmail.com) California You can also contact these organizers if you'll be in their area at the time of the gathering or if you are able to get yourselves to that area. IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ORGANIZER FOR YOUR AREA you can begin planning your own gathering if you feel that you have the means to do so. You can also send your own private video if you aren't able to attend one of the three gatherings. Rules for INDIVIDUAL TAPES are as follows: *** Can only be 2-3 min. in length. *** Must be fully edited! However you send it to me, will be the exact way it goes on the tape. *** MUST BE IN MY HANDS BY MAY 13! Let me repeat; MAY 13!!! *** When you send me the tape, it must be in the format of a video tape, not a 8mm tape! *** Contact me by e-mail before sending any tapes out! *** If you want your tape back, provide return postage. If you think that you can organize your own EDA gathering, notify me, Nancy (oink916_nsan@hotmail.com) and I can send the video requirements for group videos. Ideas that you can consider for a gathering would be a BBQ, picnic, a party or better yet, meeting together to do volunteer work to help those in need and giving your time in honor of Jewel's birthday. I'm sure she'd be pleased :) International EDA's, if you want to be a part of this, send your tapes now! Tapes must be ntsc-standard. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I CANNOT convert videos from PAL format to NTSC. I apologize to those who do not have video cameras and cannot be a part of this. There is a birthday card that you can sign as well by putting a written message on a slip of paper and if you want, include a SMALL picture of yourself and send it off to Jennifer to be pasted on a giant, deluxe, birthday card! E-mail Jennifer (jenniea@expert.cc.purdue.edu) for an address where you can send your written birthday message to Jewel. If you have questions, please e-mail me or Jennifer and let us know what's up. Please do not e-mail Mike or Mr.BB with questions. The two organizers are: Nancy (that's me) (oink916_nsan@hotmail.com) - Video Jennifer (jenniea@expert.cc.purdue.edu) - Birthday Card All comments and questions should be directed to us, not Mike or Mr. BB. One last note, if the video is successful and enough people show interest, it is possible that it may distributed as angelfood to list members. No fair if no one gets to see it :P Keep that in mind when you send in your videos; other EDA's may watch it! Until my next post, take care :) Love, Nancy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #239 ***************************
