First of all, I'd like to say that both her and Meredith Brooks do an excellent performance on it. But, the reason I'm writing this is to say that if you go to Blinky's(east side), Jewel is in there. She does a couple seconds on music she likes and stuff. It's really cool. - -Jenny, The Angel With Silver Lining ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 1998 17:20:54 -0500 From: kriskringle4@juno.com (Kristin b noneofyourbusiness) Subject: Just wondering Hey angels! This might be a stupid question but I kmow how Jewel is doing a movie, but has she ever done any tv? Other than her performances. LIke sitcoms or anything. Well that might be a stupid question, but I just didn't know the answer to it. Thanks and Angel love! Kristin Oh yeah, today I was watching a gameshow called Debt, I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with it but Jewel was one of the answers and I thought that was kind of cool. Oh well. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 10:03:44 EDT From: Ed angel Subject: a card for all of you :) Hello all you beautiful EDA's.. :) Thats right, Jewels birthday is coming up here shortly...I just loved last years present to her...The star idea was wonderful. My best friend, sent me a star just like that one..but of course, it was my star :) Anyhow...I just wanted to let you all know...that I sent you a hallmark card :) and if you would like to see it....Its at, Hallmark Greeting :) I hope you all enjoy it....~smile~ See you later, aligators :) Love Kristina ~Angel dancing with the Stars~ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 23:34:08 EDT From: HRENB Subject: Lone Wolf'ds EDA CONTEST RESULTS Well finally I have finished my little weekend contest, very time consuming, but moving and well worth it. I wish I could post everyones stories. Some of the things people described were volunteering at hospitals, helping eldery people, pulling pop tabs for medical transplants, giving food/ shelter to stranded travelers, helping the handicapped, being friends to someone who doesn' really have any friends, helping their family through rough times, helping storm cleanups, helping suicidal friends and other great things . Thanks to everyone who entered. 3 stories struck me in particular, and couldn't choose, so for the first prize I literally wrote down their 3 names and picked one randomly so... Tara (lil.goalie13@juno.com)- gets the autographed tape set. Her friend Diann recently died in a car crash where some druggie dude was driving way too fast and she was killed instantly. Tara got up in front of an assembly of her whole school to tell them about Diann and how stupid it is to drive with drugs/ alcohol/ speeding/ or no seatbelts. Michelle (Mish370@aol.com) and Kristen (Kristenluv@hotmail.com) both had great stories too. Michelle spends her weekends living with an 89 year old woman who cant walk due to a broken hip and has problems with alzheimers disease. She cooks, cleans , and keeps her entertained to give others a break from taking care of her. Kristen has been a volunteer at Northwest Community Hospital on saturdays for over a year, and spends aa lot of time cheering up older people as well. They will both get a free angelfood tape. Othe five people drawn at random to get a photo of either jewel or steve ( your choice) Brett (PENNY1616@aol.com), Amy (Jeweleda1@aol.com), Nancy (oink916_nsan@hotmail.com), Rebecca (Beck82@aol.com), and Jenny (whisper@netcom.ca) Everyone else - I 'm sure all EDA's are proud of you - all the following plus a couple anonymous and a few slight flames ( Idon't think they got the point of the contest- it wasn't to reward charity, but to acknowledge it and hopefully spur on more of it)-- The following angel (dunphynm@essex1.com), Ami (LOVE1618@aol.com), Candi (cfriend@rohan.sdsu.edu), Amy (JewelK411), Melissa (Mel Der1@aol.com), Lesley (WiddleyPud@aol.com), Priscilla (Prism14960), Christa (thumbkin@juno.com), the anonymous ones, and everyone else. Please email me at HRENB@aol.com with your address those who are getting something, and if anyone who entered is desperate for a photo, send me your addy anyways and I can probably get one to you Peace Out Barry - LONE WOLF The angel who wont post for a while because he is sick of typing ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 1998 15:16:48 -0500 From: gosiam@juno.com Subject: eda tape tree hi everybody! i was wondering if anyone knw the addy for the eda tape tree. for those of you who just joined the list, the tape tree is a site where you see what people can trade you (tapes jewel recordings, stuff like that), and what you would do in return. well, that's about it. bye-all!! :) the one the only * margaret * hyper * angel * ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 1998 20:02:46 EDT From: Stevie3103 Subject: VH1- I need help!! I have been trying to record Jewel on VH1 but I can never catch the whole show. If anyone can give me the numbber to VH1 Costumer Service, Archives or anything, I'd be greatly appriciable. Devil vs. Angel? Kind of weird. I could see her in a movie called > "Dancing With the Angels." Does anyone know why they changed the name from > "To Live On" to the new name? It's such a drastic changes...doesn't even > seem like a title for the same movie. > Derrick Well, I read the book that it is based on (it's damn hard to find, but a great book.), and I can see kind of how the title relates. One of the themes in the book is how war (the Civil War in this case) brings out the bad sides of people, or at least causes them to do bad things like kill eahc other. Also, it could be that it was a very dangerous time in Missouri during the Kansas/Missouri battles of the Civil War, and just by being there, the characters are "dancing with the devil" and living dangerously. Just a thought. and hey, have a great day, everyday!!! I also read the book the movie is based on ("Woe, To Live On" by David Woodrell). The basic storyline revolves around young soldiers who originally began fighting to protect their beliefs & families, but eventually resorted to horrible cruelty & senseless violence during one of the worst/bloodiest times of the Civil War. So the title change does make sense in that respect. Jewel's character, Sue Lee Shelly, is a strong, very independant, fearless frontier woman (kinda like her grandmother Ruth was, in real life). She brings inspiration to the two main characters & ultimately brings insight about life & redemption to the main character. I think this is a role perfectly suited to Jewel's sensibilities & style. Its obvious to me what appealed to her about it. :-) MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 1998 23:24:11 EDT From: MAXMOUZE Subject: Re: some questions In a message dated 98-04-14 21:06:10 EDT, SWTHRT9758@aol.com writes: << WHy does jewel mention hotdogs and tea in a lot of her songs?(like wwsys, silver lining, some times it be that way, ywmfm)I think thats about it. >> She also says "I ain't no piece of leftover hot dog" in MARITAL CARNIVAL. mm ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 1998 23:23:53 EDT From: bluenote8@juno.com (Brian M Jauw) Subject: [none] I don't remember who asked, but they were wondering if Jewel had ever acted on TV before. I think it was someone named Jem or something. I don't even know if it was authorized by Jewel. As for the poetry book: What is wrong with the poetry book? She has been writing poetry since way before she started songwriting. I, as well as alot of other people, are anxious to read (and hear) more of her poetry. As Jewel herself has said (I'm going from memory, so I may not have an exact quote), "Music is just one limb on a very creative body." Heck, I even hope she starts a touring collection of her marble carving! and hey, have a great day, everyday!!!
