I don't think Amy was saying that people should be perfect in their responses, or even "angelic" because that is impossible to ask of anyone. Yes, we are human beings, who make mistakes and say things we later regret. I think the point she was trying to make is that, in our interactions with each other, we should, like Mike and others have pointed out several times, remember that there is a person attached to that email address. And we should at least TRY to treat that person with the same dignity and respect that we'd want others to give us. Ok stepping down now. ;-) Tom :-) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Apr 1998 12:58:17 -0600 (CST) From: Thomas A Baas Subject: WTD: tape of Lilith Fair set Milwaukee 8/19/97 I've been looking for this tape forever...someone please help!!! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Apr 1998 15:20:24 EST From: T Face 151 Subject: Jewel Question Hello EDA'S, I am writing to you guys because I am doing a report on Jewel for my English Comp. class. Hi all, I know it's slightly off-topic, but since many of you are not only Jewel but also Poltz experts, I'd like to ask whether anbody already knows some of Steve's European tour dates and venues. Jeweljk.com only says he's gonna be in Europe from April 15th to 24th. That's not even two weeks from now and I'm dying to see him live... So, has anybody out there any info ? (Mr BB ?) Please reply privately. Thanks !!! Cheers ! On April 3, he's putting on another free performance at Harmony House in the Rennaisance Center at Noon. He'll be signing autographs later on. It's in the 200 Tower in the lower level. If you need directions, call them at 567-7810. For those of you who didn't catch my earlier post a few weeks back, he's playing tonight in Ann Arbor at the Blind Pig. And tomorrow night, after the Renn Cen, he's gonna be at the Shelter in Detroit. Last I checked, they still had tickets for $7 in advance, show starts at 6:30. That's it for now, hope to see some of you there! If we are Angels, we should stick together and BE Angels. Not all against each other. This is something that has also bothered me, and you put it into words very well. I can understand why you may hate the song Adrian, it's not a happy song and it makes me cry. I like it, but that's only my opinion, like you not liking it is your opinion. So come on Angels, why flame each other when we're all in this crazy mixed up world together and runnign the same race? we shouldn't try to make things harder for each other or to trip each other up. There's nothing wrong with our own opinions. Kansas City Pitch - April 1st by Jon Niccum A RUBY AND A JEWEL longggg article about Renee's new movie 'A Price Above Rubies' (cut to jewel section). Although she is becoming a recognizable movie star, Zellweger has been mistaken more than a few times for folk singer and current Kansas City occupant Jewel. The two even played up the separated-at-birth connection when Zellweger introduced the songstress during this year's MTV Awards. "I think I get mistaken more for her (Jewel) than she gets mistaken for me," Zellweger says laughing. "the funniest story was one time these waitresses came up to me, and one put her hands on me and said, 'Oh god, I love you, I love your work. What you do means so much to me.' I said, ' Oh, thank you'. She then goes, 'I mean, your LYRICS they just...' Okay, I know I went out on a limb by saying what I did in my post about flaming. Now, I would like to clear up a few things, and then we can get on with our lives. 1) I in no way meant to "start" anything. I saw the quote, it bothered me, I said something about it. That's it. 2) I also did not intend to implicate anyone. I know it was Charlie Watkins who uses the quote. It was explained to me that the quote came from a time on the list when flaming publicly was a bigger issue. I didn't mean to say that Charlie is a bad example of an EDA, or anything of the sort. It was just that his quote got me to think, and he's not the only one who's done that. 3) By saying that it is "behavior unbecoming to an Everyday Angel to be cruel, hateful, or disrespectful" I was not trying to tell anyone how they should act. I know I do not have the "right" to tell people what to do. However, EDA or not, people have the right to have their opinions respected, and not have to worry about being attacked for what they say, publicly OR privately. OK, I'm done. Thank you all for listening to me. ~Amy, the angel who loves mystery ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #197 ***************************
