Genghis Cohen is located at 740 North Fairfax in Los Angeles. Phone at the club is (213) 653-0640. I'm sworn to secrecy, but Cindy Lee has a surprise or two in store for this gig. ;-) I highly recommend anyone in reasonable distance make this show. You won't be sorry! Wish I could join ya, MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 19:17:39 -0600 From: Lara Subject: SJC: Re: Everyday Thoughts Mailing List Okay, I received a reply about this post and I don't think some people get this. I am NOT trying to replace the EDA list. Everyday Thoughts is simply for people who want to exchange poetry, feelings, etc. with others. THIS IS STUFF WHICH CANNOT BE POSTED HERE! It is a nice alternative for people who wish to know EDAs more as individuals -- as I do. It is hard to get to know people on this list unless they adopt you or you meet them on IRC/ICQ or something. Since everything posted must have Jewel content, it is not possible for people to express many things. It is not a copy-cat list or whatever. If it bothers you no one is forcing you to sign up. Sorry... I am usually an agreeable person -- but this bothered me. thanks - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- {\o/} Lara, daisy angel I'm sorry if my heart breaking ruined your day /_\ larajean@gmx.de ~Jewel Kilcher - ----- http://come.to/daisy -------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Mar 1998 00:00:00 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: re: SJC: Re: Everyday Thoughts Mailing List Lara wrote: >Okay, I received a reply about this post and I don't think some people get >this. Sorry... I am >usually an agreeable person -- but this bothered me. One correction...everything posted on Jewel@smoe doesn't have to have Jewel content, it's an EDA list too, to some degree. EDA gatherings are our specialty :-) By reading the list, you can get a feel for what is proper posting content. Lara's new list? I welcome this new list with open arms :-) Last summer when Jewel@smoe had massive growth and its' Internet Service Provider and smoe.org's owner dictated that the list volume had to decrease, much of the stuff that used to be accepted here had to go. We used to average 90 to 125 posts a day, which meant nearly 100,000 daily outgoing emails from this list alone. Also, the 90+ daily emails brought in many complaints, rightfully so. As an unfortunate result of bringing the volume down via list-moderation, this list has suffered some loss of what was perhaps it's greatest part....the closeness amongst the list members. This new sister list by Lara, while I'm sure won't and isn't intended to grow to nearly the size of Jewel@smoe, can serve a very useful purpose. It can and will accept posts (within good taste and reason, of course) that are no longer accepted here. You can be more open...you can post your poetry (something that many used to love to do here)...you can ask for help on many topics about life, love, computers, whatever....you can discuss whatever interests you have. Including Jewel :-) It's purpose is to help fill the void that was lost here. Ain't nuttin' wrong with that :-) I myself joined up the moment I got Lara's first email. I think it will be a lovely neighborhood. :-) Mike - Jewel list owner :-) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #185 ***************************
