Intro ;) Heya guys and gals on the list, I am pretty new, and would like to introduce myself to you all. First off, my name is Jason Keis, and I am a 19 yr old (turning 20 soon) from New York City. I live in Queens if any of you know where that is. Anyway, I thank my parents for having brought me up on good music, including Simon & Garfunkel, the Beatles, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Moody Blues, etc.. etc.. I've been to many concerts so far and well, now I am currently in a heavy metal/hard rock band (whatever you would like to call it).. our influences range from Metallica to Iron Maiden to Dream Theater to Megadeth... so many... I believe my life is about music... I can't really see a life without it. Having said that, I would like to say that I believe I enriched my life 100 fold a couple of days ago, when I picked up Pieces of You... it's one of the most beautiful music I have ever heard so far in my 19 years of living on this planet :) I'm really glad I picked her CD up. I would have been missing out on something special... Well, that basically summarizes me and my new Jewel experience ;) I've been browsing the net for Jewel pages and I have come to realize that those who are subbed to this list are part of some EDA family ;) I find that to be cool... I would definitely appreciate it very much if all of you would allow me to become part of this family ;) pwease? hehe... Hmm.. let's see.. what other questions did I have... Oh yeah, I am very interested in trading for some of her tapes... videos too, however, I only have Metallica and Megadeth tapes to trade ;) Don't know if that fills any of the empty cups of tea some of you may have, but it was worth a shot. I have *some* Beatles and one Dream Theater.. maybe some other stuff, gotta check it out. Did Jewel do any covers? I really think Jewel covering a Simon & Garfunkel song like Bridge over Troubled Water would be incredible... in my opinion at least... It's really sad... the situation of our world today I mean... Iraq and all of this other crap out there... I just wish everyone would relax and listen to music.. Jewel's music in particular ;) The world would be a much happier place... I would really love to join, because Jewel is the best, and she was robbed at the grammies, and the only reason I watched them was to see her.I was wondering if N E one has an audio only file of Jewel singing the national anthem.I was also wondering if N E one has any pictures of Jewel because I have this little collection of pictures I got of the net of her,, which numbers over 200 and I am always looking for new pictures to get. I like Jewel's hair all twisted up with those little yellow things tied in. My sister laughed, but I thought it was cool. Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone knows what that 'Soy bomb' guy was about during Bob Dylan's performance...? What was that? Also, one more thing, I've finall gotten my tape list on the world wide web. My list is small, only about 20 tapes or so, but I dub for newbies and I'll basically trade for anything...so yeah. During the Lilith Fair last summer there was a webcast of all the main stage performers. It broadcast audio and video (except the video of Jewel). I taped Jewel's audio portion, but I let the tape sit around until recently and I never dated it so I don't know the exact date. I thought it was 8/9/97 in Chicago, but after browsing the web I've come to believe it might be 7/9/97 in Irving, CA. The setlist is below. If someone can answer this for me, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks! And, if it isn't 8/9/97 in Chicago, does anyone have a tape of this? Please e-mail me privately if you can help. Thanks again. - -Tom SETLIST: Near You Always Deep Water Sometimes It Be That Way Morning Song Been Down So Long Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone Dancing Barefoot Foolish Games Passing Time Angel Standing By You Were Meant For Me Who Will Save Your Soul Well, I thought I was right. Here's the deal. I taped this off the web on the date I thought (Sat. 8/9/97), but I let the tape sit around without dating it, only saying it was a webcast, until you asked about it. I went to Lilith Fair on Fri. 8/8/97 in Indianapolis and I could have sworn the next night was the webcast of Lilith in Chicago. They broadcast video and audio that night. I only taped Jewel's audio part. They wouldn't show Jewel's video, but they did show Sarah's video, though it wasn't very good over a modem. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry. I did a little researching of people's tapes on the web and I came across a list of setlists and there was one dated July 9, 1997 in Irving, CA that has the exact same setlist as I had for Tinley Park. Could I be that wrong? I guess so, I must be losing my memory. That's what age does to you. :-) I could've sworn I taped this after I saw Liltih Fair and not a month before. I never found anyone who had a tape for August 9, 1997 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 20:06:07 -0800 From: Scott Hamilton Subject: NJC: Wanna see Tara MacLean for free? ok, so here's the deal... tara maclean is playing at luna park in west hollywood on march 5. i am moving to northern california, and i'm so freakin' busy packing (and dealing with a ruptured disk in my back...but that's another story) that there's no way i can go. i have two free passes to luna park (actually, they're good for any show at lp, which is an awesome club) that i received when i donated money to kcrw during their last pledge drive. since i can't use them, i want to give the passes to someone who can and will. is that you? please don't ask for the passes if you're not going to use them. they're worth quite a bit of money, and i don't want them to go to waste. but i do want to see them go to someone. if you're interested, please e-mail me privately with "luna park" in the subject line. you'll obviously need to respond quickly. if you want them and will use them, i will put the passes in the mail to you as soon as you respond. happy show-going, scott - -- "Computers are useless. I just wanted to welcome any feedback, opinions, criticism, reviews or questions as these recordings begin to circulate. I'm also curious if enough interest is there to make FF1 & 2 available again sometime later this year. I hope FF3 turns you on to something new & provides a much needed Jewel fix to those anxiously/patiently awaiting the new album. Feel free to let me know what you think once you get the tape. I also want to publicly thank James Judd who set up the Angelfood Bank & easy EDA online signup program. It's working like a charm! Also, as usual, a big thanks to Dennis (always lurking now) Harris! He personally made every one of those jcards you'll all be recieving! And please remember to thank your volunteer branch once you do recieve your tape! They're workin hard for you. :-) Best wishes, MrBB If you have no idea what I'm talking about, please visit: http://www.angelfoodbank.org/ ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #139 ***************************
