Hey! Ok, about the "Foolish Games" website. It is: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/7887/foolishgames.html I had no idea Jewel has so many other songs floating around that are actually recorded. How do I find these songs? I also didn't know that "Silver Lining" was Steve Poltz's song. They are great at singing it together, too bad she isn't singing it on his album with him (or is she?). It's great that he's putting out an album and I'll have to check that out, also. I've yet to go to a Jewel concert but, of course, I REALLY WANT TO. How is it that all of you seem to get to actually meet Jewel? And, if anyone finds a Jewel piano book, tell me first thing. At a piano shop I found a songbook titled something like "90s Rock & Alternative Songs" and at the very end, "WHSYS" was there, so if you ever find that book, the piano version of that song is in it, though I don't know how good it actually is. Hi all EDA's! Just read in the paper the other day that Jewel was going to sing in some album called Rumours? Does anyone know if it's true? What kind of songs will she be singing on the album? I've been on the list for about a week and I've read quite a few posts from older EDA:s about how much the list has changed and how the sense of a EDA community has been lost. Well, why don't we all try to get that old spirit back? We've all been brought together by the beauty of Jewel's music and I've noticed how many really interesting and wise people we have here so come on and make the list greater than it ever was!! Once again, if there are any european angels out there with angelfood please contact me, I'm starving :) Robert, the starving angel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 1998 16:16:56 -0800 From: park.place@juno.com (Henry S Park) Subject: NJC: Inner Change Jcards Hello, I have just finished my jcards for Inner Change Days (tapes 1 and 2). On both "I Thought I Saw You Last Night" & "Impalla", Jewel is very prominent on vocals, so all Jewel fans will get a fix! I must add that "Impalla" will definately blow some minds here. Its really incredible & features the Mighty, Mighty Bosstones Hornsection giving this one serious kick! Guaranteed to make you wanna shake that thang! Although those two songs are the most obvious for radio, the rest of the album has simply phenomenal songwriting that has almost all the same qualities that made POY so appealing to everyone here. Steve has been a major influence on Jewel for years, so this isn't surprising. I know this album will finally give Steve the recognition he most certainly deserves. And its about time, too! :-) MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 1998 22:24:02 EST From: JewelK411@aol.com Subject: This is something important (about me) Ok, well I first want to thank everyone who has sent a concerned about me letter, I thank you for that, but I think I need to be honest... In January I really got more depressed than usual (and I'm usually really depressed) and I tried suicide, I guess I never thought of asking one of you for help but it never came across to me. My life's just one big hell hole if you ask me... I move at the begining of January which was also real tuff, and the one night I didn't have any of my friends to talk to... after I overdosed I turned on The Wizard Of Oz In Concert: Dreams Come True, and I just started crying, I couldn't go thru with it and I told my mom what I had done... she was shocked. Well I ended up in the hospital for the night and was sick for the next week... I didn't tell my mom I was really depressed because we don't get along at all... She yells at me all the time, I guess I would say she was the main sorce of my depression, also adding on to my dad's death, and my favorite uncle's passing... not to forget new problems in my family like my Alcholic Aunt who was my favorite, untill she got so drunk sometimes she would call me and harrass me... which wasn't easy... Well I'm really depressed again and there is no one to talk to... again... well chat with you laterz... For all of you who would like to get a better understanding of what life was like in those times and you dont mind a little hollywood interpretation, watch the "North and the South", read Killer Angels and watch Gettysburg the movie based off that book, and also watch Glory, the story of the 24th Massachusetts regiment(the first black regiment with a more fighting role). All of these movies and books will give you a good cross of the different attitudes and peoples of the time. What you learn in your American history classes in High school and College doesn't even begin to cover what was truly there. > After all the pain & violence the lead character (Roedel) > experiences, Sue Lee brings back hope for the future, renewed > strength & changes him for the better spiritually. > Not unlike the effect some of Jewel's songs have had on > many people here. MrBB is most likely correct here(I still have not found a copy of this book around here), but I would suggest that to understand the time frame better, you try and read and watch some of these other movies. It will give a very good background of the glory that all felt they were earning and of the violence that so traumatized our nation for the 150 years. The effects are still being felt today. If you have any questions about American Military History or periods during times of conflict feel free to ask me. I wish all of you a happy coming weekend and may all you angels of tomorrow follow your heart.
