Hi Everyone. A few days ago my EDA mom told me she was leaving the list.I'm still pretty upset about it-but that's not what I wanted to talk about. The reason she left is because she's tired of the things going on in the list. She said she was tired of reading so many posts that are trashing Jewel.I've been giving it a lot of thought-and she's right. I'm not going to leave the list over it,but I do think we all need to just sit quietly for a few minutes-and remember WHY we ever became EDA's in the first place. And if trashing jewel is it-than maybe I and a few others are in the wrong place... Hey everyone, Tonight I think I heard Silver Lining on the radio. (for anyone in the New Haven, Ct area, it was 104.1 fm) I only heard one of the last verses with Steve Poltz singing. (I used to rely on luck to earn an honest buck...) I had to leave the room for a minute and when I came back it was over. I don't know if Jewel was singing it with him or not. If anyone else has heard this song on the radio before, could you email me back. Have they released it as a single or was the radio station just randomly playing it? If you could email me at Kate1981@aol.com I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot! - -Kate "the right winged angel" ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Feb 1998 02:13:54 -0500 From: Crunch Subject: The Re-emergence of Sean Hooks =) Did anyone else notice that we got four posts from Sean in one week? Wow! I always look forward to the sincere and pointed words from our long-time resident social critic and relentless Jewel supporter. And those words usually are offered at just the right time: when an over-enthusiastic fan innocently gets to thinking that they knows what Jewel is thinking. I do think I was one of the first targets of that brutal honesty, but that was almost two years ago and I've learned to watch my words since. =) Sean, its always a pleasure! To those that wonder who he is to talk the way he does, he's Sean - and he was on this list before you heard of Jewel! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Feb 1998 15:51:12 -0800 From: "Mark A. The mix is pretty electric with slick production and lots of layered harmony vocals through the chorus. Jewel is probably buried in those backing vocals somewhere but it's impossible to identify her. The verses are all Steve, no duet with Jewel as he has been known to do in concert. I think the album is going to kick ass on the charts this year! Later! Hello everyone! In less than 2 weeks, as many of you very contentedly know, Patty Griffin and Ellis Paul will be performing at the Somerville Theatre. For those of you who are still interested in going, I highly recommend calling Ticketmaster or the Somerville Theatre (sorry don't have the # on me...) ASAP...any seating which is left is HIGHLY limited, as both have huge followings up here in the Boston area. Tickets are $16 & $15. I know that this will be an incredible show, as I have seen Ellis Paul's explosive and energetic performances, have heard about Patty's passionate and intense concerts, and know, from conversations I have had with Ellis, that both are incredibly close friends...and we all know that concerts with your best friends are always the best... I want to remind you all that there *is* a pre-show get together. The theatre is in Davis Square, which is on the red-line of the Boston T system. We will be congregating just one T stop away, at the Pizzeria Uno's in Porter Square. For those of you who may be driving straight to Uno's for dinner, it is on Mass. Ave, literally right nextto the Porter Square T station/commuter rail. It is in a building which also houses a Pier 1, a Blockbuster, and a couple other stores. And it shares a massive parking lot with a shopping center which is home to a Star Market. We should all get together *AT 5 PM* inside the building, right in front of Uno's. The concert begins at 8, so this should give us plenty oftime to relax and chow down before heading to the theatre. The doors to the auditorium of the Somerville Theatre do not even open until 7:30. =) If you are going to be coming to dinner beforehand, PLEASE email me and let me know. I know, from personal experience, that it is *so* important to know how to look for someone (something more specific than "Under 50, over 12, and female...is always helpful...). And it is not fun if people are lookingfor you but do not know what to look for and then wait a while and just...leave and go eat. Know what I mean? I am *really* excited about this...for many reasons. The Mad Mission list was born just over a month ago, and already there is a get together...and a celebration of Patty's amazing music. Also, there just seems something so amazing about people from different "groups" comingtogether to enjoy beauty in any of its forms. It's great, because with these three lists in particular, there is already such a cross-over of participation...and we will get to meet new people and have "new fun" so to speak...with those who participate more exclusively in one list...there is just something so joyous about all of this! So, please get in touch with me, let me know if you are going to be comingto dinner beforehand...and, periodically, I will post lists of people who are coming. And, of course, as more details present themselves, I will most certainly post them to all of you! take care, everyone, and...only 12 more days! love you all stephanie Stephanie Maria Kartalopoulos We should be very greatful to have a kartalst@hugse1.harvard.edu limited body...like mine or like The Greek Poet Chyck yours.
