Hello to all, Okay, I would just like to, in a way, defend the people who mailed and agreed with me about the transformation of Jewel's public appearance. No ones says that Jewel is this crappy person now that she is getting tired of Foolish Games. Shoot, I'm totally sick of hearing that song now a days. The radio and TV just don't know how to diversify with their music. Personally, I will never get sick of Jewel and her music. I think all of the people who posted about their disappointments in Jewel is not that we/they are sick of Jewel as a person, but what she is portraying herself to be now a days. She use to be seen as somewhat of a shy and nice and caring for her fans type of person. But now she is viewed as this person who knows that she is big and millions of people adore her. And that is why a lot people think Jewel has conformed into this hypocrite of who she use to portray herself to be. Okay, let me take the Leno performance as an example. So Jewel is singing. I love Jewel's voice and the way she sings, but personally, I've seen better performances. Okay, she has stopped singing. She does not smile or bow. Why? I don't know. I do know that in all of the tapes that I have of Jewel from when she wasn't as famous, she always acknowledged her fans. She had once realize the importance of being "nice" to the people who had a major part of putting her on the charts. Now, I'm not saying that in every present performance Jewel has not been good to the fans. Because in Letterman she was very nice. Alright, so here is the part of the interview. "Music is becoming redundant" Okay fine. I can see that. I am a musician, and I perform at concerts a lot. Even if I'm sick performing the same songs over and over again, I do not go in front of the public and say all of this. Like what she did at the MTV Music Awards. She was originally suppose to play some song, but she decided to not play it and played Angel Standing By. Do you guys get the point I'm making? SOOO the BASIC SUMMARY of what I'm trying to say is that she has CHANGED. AND that is ALL! Please do not think I'm dogging Jewel in any way. I love Jewel and respect her greatly. All we (being the people who are disappointed) are trying to get out is just that she has changed. And that we wish she hasn't, because we love and respect the old Jewel more. This is all. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. Feel free to respond to what I have said once again. Sarah "But maybe if we are surrounded in beauty, someday we will become what we see... I rather see the world in another angle, we are EveryDay Angels..." -Jewel _____________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Feb 1998 15:05:52 -0600 From: Brian Dixon Subject: NJC: if you live in these cities... Hi. I have an energetic, acoustic-rock band and we are going on tour march 2-8. We are traveling from Winnipeg, Manitoba through Minneapolis, Wisconsin, Indianapolis, Louisville, and eventually to Charleston, Columbia, Charlotte, etc. if you live in any of these cities, please get back to me. I am looking for info on venues, local papers, places to stay and just want to meet a couple of the other EDA's out there. Geez - the girl gets sick of singing the same three songs (WWSYS, FG, YWMFM) every single night and now you guys are absolutely convinced that she abhors the world of singing, and she's abandoning it completely. Get a grip, will ya? My God, I'm surprised she hasn't said she was bored with this album already! Wait, she did, remember? Hard Rock, i believe - she said somehting along the lines of "Aren't you guys sick of this album? I am" or something like that. Just b/c she's tired of singing POY doesn't mean she's tired of singing. Look up the word redundant, which is the word she used - it means repetitive, essentially. Geez - give the gal a break. I'm reviewing it right now for a publication and I thought I'd give you all the track list for it: 1. Look to the East 2. Good Morning (Waking Up With You) 3. Krikor's Waltz 4. Silver Lining 5. Forbidden Fruit 6. Salvation Song 7. Impala 8. One Left Shoe 9. I Thought I saw You Last Night 10. Everything About You 11. Leavin' Again 12. The Great Mystery 13. Broken Hearts and Painted Nails 14. Kicking Distance 15. Beautiful Day It's even better than you think it's going to be. The brass on "Impala" (supplied by the horn section of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones) will really put a smile on your face (Jewel provides a cute background vocal on this track). The orchestrations are excellent as well. There's not one bad song on this album which makes it the best release of the year I've heard so far. Larry's favorite, "The Great Mystery," is also my favorite on the album. All in all, a very beautiful solo debut by Steve with near perfect production -- lots of surprises and not one disappointing song. Someone should be posting about Steve's upcoming performances soon if it hasn't been done already... I am very happy with the results that I have gotten since I subscribed to this list, everyone seems so nice and down to earth. Unfortunately I do not have an interesting story like some of you on how I met Jewel. I've never met her before but I've loved her music ever since Who Will Save Your Soul aired on the radio. I would really like to see Jewel perform live and maybe meet her someday! Some of my favorite Jewel songs are: Near You Always, Cold Song, Flower and sunshineSuperman. I can't wait to see the results of Jewels acting career and I hope that she doesn't give up on her singing! Jewel is a beautiful person and it makes me glad to know that there are lot's of people out there who agree with me! I just thought that I would post up some info on myself and let you all know who I am! Thanks for listening! Also, I hate to be a pain but I have had no luck in landing any angel food yet and I am getting a bit disillusioned when I hear people writing about so many other songs that aren't on POY.
