Well, here they are in order: 1. Rocker Girl 2. Love me Just Leave me Alone 3. Emily 4. My Own Private God's Gift to Women 5. Near You Always 6. Satellite 7. Sometimes it Be that Way 8. Angel Standing By 9. Silver Lining 10. Race Car Driver .... as you can see, I enjoy Jewel's fast songs a little more than her slow ones, but of course I love them all as a Jewel fan!! Well, I have gone on long enough--- but one last thing....... I really liked the National Anthem even if Jewel did mess up at first....obviously it wasn't her fault, though! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 21:09:59 EST From: Rolkdog Subject: best songs Well this thread is so hard to decide upon(as we've all said) so I'm gonna make a list of the 10 songs I'd pick if I was stranded on a desert island or something and could only listen to 10 Jewel songs for the rest of my life(thank God this will never happen) In no order: 1. Carnivore-probably my favorite, at least right now 2. Sometimes It Be That Way-great lyrics and beat 3. YWMFM- the first song of hers I liked, and still one of the best 4. Foolish Games- absolutely beautiful 5. Near You Always- wonderful, what a voice at the end 6. Don't- beautiful lyrics, I love the line "where your words were my freedom" 7. Amen- an amazing end to this song, gives me chills 8. Love Me Just Leave Me Alone- makes me want to shake my groove thing 9. My Own Private God's Gift to Women- so different, love the lines, cutting edge 10. Nikos- such a sweet, yet sad song, cried first time I heard it, and I'm a guy Honoroable Mentions: I Got the Blues More Than You Do Blues, Painters, Little Sister, Race Car Driver, WWSYS, Satellite, V-12 Cadillac, Money, I'm Sensitive That's it. The other day one of my substitutes at school was talking to other people... i don't really like her because of her overall ignorance, otherwise i would have been talking with her, but that's not the point. She was talking about music and how she loved Jewel's voice, but she was mad at her because, as she says, "Now that she has all that money, she should get her teeth fixed!" ...This kind of offended me. I was about to get angry, but it was 7:45 in the morning, too early to start stuff. But my point is, from the first day I saw Jewel's Who Will Save Your Soul, I have always thought that her crooked teeth were her trademark. I think they make her unique... she should never get them fixed. I've heard people say (ok I've heard guys say) that her teeth are a major turn off.... but it doesn't worry me, just as long as her voice stays beautiful is what matters, right? (yeah, the pretty face counts for something...) lala, that's all for now. Hiya. even though i've been on the list for 'bout exactly a year i'm gonna sound clueless with this short message? could anyone send me the lyrics to passing time? Thats the one with.."I saw you with another girl..I'm sure she was a whore." right? Ok. Thanks in advance. David sent some guy to the Superbowl to interview people and he interviewed Jewel and he said "Jewel -- sang the National Anthem tonight. Can I sing one of your songs?". Jewel gave him a funny look, and said "Sure" and he said "Who will s-a-a-ave your soul when it comes to a flower". And then it cut back to him after some more interviews and he was singing some country song and making Jewel laugh. Another Great Thread. In no particular order, here are some of mine: :) Favourite Jewel Songs: Deep Water: As I've said before, this song is somewhat of a mantra to me. Whenever I feel down, or begin to lose hope, one listen to this inspiring number is enough to put me back on the right path. "It's nothing without love.". WWSYS: More for the music than the lyrics, which is rare for a Jewel song. The squealing organ whan she sings "Who will save your sououououououl" is enough to give me goosebumps. Absence of Fear: So soothing and tranquil. Love Me Just Leave Me Alone: A great song that is not unlike something Dylan would write in the mid-60's. Fantastic. Run Tonto Run: Brings back great memories of my first Jewel concert when I first heard this wonderful up-tempo number. Flower: "We will survive." YWMFM (POY version): Mostly because this song was such consolation for me when I was lamenting an unrequited crush that I once had. I prefer the more melancholy sounding POY version because I think it fits the mood of the lyrics more. Jessica: Absolutely heartbreaking. Sattelite: Great Lyrics, great music and I love the facial expressions that Jewel employs when she sings this live. :) SIBTW: How can you not love this song? Been Down So Long: This song reminds me that we all share the same hopes, dreams, fears and emotions. We truly are "Pieces of each other" and should act accordingly. Recognising this, how can I, in good faith, hurt you when invariably I am also hurting myself. You hurt, I hurt, we all hurt but we all have the potential (and obligation) as human beings to help each other through that hurt. Angel Standing By--->Amen: Sonic beauty that brings tears to my eyes. Reminds me that I am not alone and that there is always someone watching over me. Like most everybody on this list, there are few Jewel songs that I don't like. These are just some of my many favourites which also include Last Dance Rodeo, Hotel Angel, Angel Needs a Ride, Morning Song, Near You Always, Circle Song, MOPGGTW, Ain't No Looking Back, Cold Song and so much more. I too was ready to blast the Montreal Gazette for their bent opinion on how Jewel sang. But, I reconsidered. Jewel seems to make love to every song she sings (though I'm not thinking sexually here). That is why I love to listen.
