I noticed from the age/locale survey that there are quite a few Texas EDA's out there. That would be cool if we could get to know one another and maybe even get together somehow. Please e-mail me PRIVATELY because I would just like to meet more EDA's out there. I feel that all of you EDA's out there are a special group of people who could be a friend of mine. Thanks! (they can get quite dark and hard to read after a couple of generations of photocopying :) ok, now the wish list. I was going to do the my favorate Jewel song thread but then I realize that probably everybody likes Foolish game, Angel standing by and I'm sensitive ... etc, so I thought it'll be more interesting to pick the ones not on POY. Talking about POY, I can honestly say that it's the best album I've ever heard (perhaps that's not saying very much these days, oh well) I can't remember liking more songs on a CD than POY (not even the "greatest hits" ones). Complements to Jewel and her production team. Every time when I begin to feel that it might be overplayed a bit in my CD player, I find another song that I really like. My favorate songs from POY progressed as: YWMFM -> FG -> WWSYS -> I'm sensitive -> near you always -> morning song - -> don't -> angel standing by -> amen -> adrian -> painters (current) and the five songs I listen to everyday still are: painters, near you always, morning song, adrian and I'm sensitive. maybe someday POY, little sister, daddy will get on the list :) okay, okay, now comes the wish list :) ... from my limited angelfood collection, in random order: absense of fear fragile flame STIBTW (sorry sorry song :) haha that was funny!) tiny love spaces (is it use to be called answering machine?) 1000 miles away studies in love #12 fish family cold song I like fragile flame a lot, especially after listening to the story behind it. perhaps people don't expect to see fish family in there, but I like it. it sounds like a funny song at first but I think there's a story. does anyone know if Jewel wrote it base on her experience when she lived in Hawaii?? hmmm ... I think that's enough of me happy new year! Obviously the vocal track was played too soon and it caught Jewel off guard. If you look in the background, every one of the marines unfolding the flag were caught off guard as well. Also, the music didn't kick in till around "and the rockets' red glare". What I speculate happened is the audio crew had the pre-recorded song on 2 channels (vocals and music). They forgot to play the music first (which would have given Jewel a lead to start synching to). Despite this technical glitch, I believe the song was rather well sung. Jewel did not do an excellent job of lip synching and never really looked to be 'into' the song, but that is understandable considering how shaken up she may have been due to the sudden beginning of the song. Anyway, she did a great job of covering up after the fact! Hell, with millions of people watching me I would've ran outta the stadium and not stopped till I reached LA! I'm just glad Jewel had the honor of singing at the Super Bowl...and that the Bronco's won! Only good win of the nights were that Merit award to Frankie Sinatra and then that one to Bush 2. My Fave songs.. lemme see: - - "Carnivore" - only because someone kissed me just because I was able to hit that high note once (teehee) - - "Emily" only because I can sing it and use it as a warmup song "Where does love go if it caaaan't find a hooome?" :) - - "Love Me Just Leave Me Alone" - this song just gets me to dance :) - - "Painters" - makes me cry.. oh woe is me - - "Rocker Girl" - another of those bubbly songs - - "Have a Little Faith in Me" - another good warmup song for me.. and it's so beautiful - - "Foolish Games" - oh this just captures my heart and turns it all to mush - - "Chime Bells" - oh my goodness.. the yodeling is so good :) - - "Behind the Wall" - even if it ain't her song... - - "Absence of Fear" - ohhh another pretty lil song And what about nice songs for the girl of a million hairstyles to sing? ABBA's "Angeleyes", "Lay All Your Love on Me", :Thank You For the Music" and "The Way Old Friends Do" Lisa Loeb's "Firecracker" and "Stay" Pixies "Gigantic" Sublime's "What I Got", and wouldn't "Caress Me Down" be so funny? Thanks for your time... > -Bryan > An Angel underneath Well, I never intended to learn all the stuff I know about her personal life (and I still try not to pay attention to stuff that has nothing to do with me), but I know more than most people and I can't do anything about it. And I do collect alot of memorabilia, but I don't own anything that she has touched, exept for my soul. It doesn't hurt anyone, and it helps me through the tough times, so I think it is OK. As for her being hypocritical....I haven't seen anything really to support that. I do see how someone could maybe get that impression, though. She is a wonderful person, but many of us (I've been guilty of it at times) exagerate that and make her out to be this perfect being taht never makes mistakes, never hurts anyone, and always knows what to do. This is the curse of fame. I've realized that a big part of what makes me like her so much. I mean, she is beautiful, despite...no make that because of her imperfections. And she is a wonderful person, not because she acts perfect, but because, to a degree, of her flaws (she swears, she forgets the words to songs or misses a chord sometimes). Her message is meaningful, because it shows a person that wants to see something beautiful in a world of imperfections. And she proves thata person can succeed, even with these imperfections and mistakes, as long as they keep a good attitude. Sorry to go on and on, but I have strong feelings about this subject. I think people are making too big a deal about it. I was somewhat amused by the music starting before Jewel did. She was probably irritated by the incident but will probably laugh about it later. She did a great job of recovering and also the anthem was beautifully sung. And about people singing live I am currently listening to Radio Angels '96 (thanks to Jay Johnson) In an interview on the tape she is talking about singing the Anthem for the Orioles I believe. She mentioned how difficult it was to sing the anthem in a large stadium due to the feedback- i.e. hearing yourself a few second after you say something. I think its better to Pre- Record and end up with a better performance. So somewhere along the line somebody goofed and started the recording to soon I say oh well everyone makes mistakes. And in honor of such a beautiful performance and due to the fact that it is time for me to spread the wealth a little since I have a small angelfood collection- I will make copies of Radio Angels '96 for anyone who wants to email me back. Would like to trade for stuff I don't have but will copy for anyone who wants to send a blank tape. Did anyone ever notice how much emotion she puts in to it when she sings it live? She really puts alot of emotion and "freaks out" until the end like in the MTV Unpluged, and in all the live things I heard. I think it sounds good. But what I would like to know is if that line means something to her that she put so much emotion into it and if it does could you tell me what it means to her? That's all for now.
