I was wondering if there is anyone from South East Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand... blah, blah, blah...) who have any angelfood. If there are any and willing to dub for me, I'd be absolutely grateful. I'll bear the costs of mailing and dubbing. Please mail me, kay. Thanks. If there's anyone else from Asia witha helpful hand, I don't mind that either. Basically I'm looking for the non POY songs which are practically impossible to be obtained here. Thanks! So I heard on the radio earlier today what I thought was the album version of 'Foolish Games' at first, all I heard was piano... then an unfamiliar voice... So the chorus went ........ 'and these football games are tearing us apart' beginning was 'you take your shoes off, sit on the couch, you're always lazy like that...' and then some stuff about sending her out to get beer and such... it was pretty funny, but I didn't listen to the whole thing to give yas the full lyrical report. Is this just a Cleveland thing or are they playing it all over the place? anyhow, thought yous would get a kick out of it if it happens to be just our pleasure. GO uhmmm... Browns? no, uhm... Well, I just finish my Jewel Windows95 theme. I was going to e-mail it to those of you who requested it directly. BUT with the amount of requests I got (32 requests just over night!) I realized that, at 5 minutes per message, I'd be here for close to 3 hours just sending the e-mail! However, those of you on the mailing list still get first crack at it. Just go to http://users.uniserve.com/~nitehawk/jewel.htm and you can get it directly from there. Don't go directly to my web page, because there isn't currently a link there. Like I said, you all get first shot. :) It's about a 990kb zip file. Just unzip it into you Program Files\PLUS!\Themes directory and it SHOULD work (at least it worked on my system). Also, sorry about the audio quality for the .WAV files. My good sound editing software is missing and I had to get the files using CD Player to play and Sound Recorder to record and edit. If you have any questions, comments, or complaints, just e-mail me at the address below. And thanks to all the EDA's out there who encouraged me to turn a random idea into a reality. It's thanks to all of you that I've taken to calling myself the Cynical-but-getting-better Angel. On page 16 of section E (Super Bowl guide) is a whole page dedicated to the San Diego Chicken giving a tour of San Diego. Jewel is mentioned in two places. It says: "Java Joe's, Newport Avenue and Bacon Street: On Ocean Beach, this is where Jewel, who will sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, got her start. She used to be a waitress and performed at the cafe's open mike" Also, there's a picture of the San Diego Chicken sitting at the open mike inside Java Joe's with the caption: "UNDERSTUDY FOR JEWEL? The chicken takes the open mike at Java Joe's, where Jewel, who's singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, got her start" Of course we all know she got her start at the Innerchange. but what the heck....since when does an article get everything right?. The article is online at: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/sfn/sfnsb77.htm with chicken pictures, (in case anyone collects chicken pictures ;) but unfortunately they don't have the picture of the chicken at Java Joe's, just the paper does. Bye, (V)att Last Dance Rodeo Written by Jewel Kilcher. Transcribed by Ryan Doskocil. Your lungs fill up with concrete A voice is all you can hear Red lips and a screwdriver Wrapped around some mink-clad smear And you know that she's a diamond And it's damned you for sure 'Cause fools gold only fools fools In two-bit hotels. But she's cooler than all that She's a real high-class cat She's queen of the last dance rodeo. But under the gas lamp The air is thick and velvety Your bones filled with hunger Your heart filled with longing You're no longer human You're an insatiable hole. You wanna bury your face forever In the navel of her soul 'Cause you know ... All you need is a heart to call home All you need is a heart to call home That's all. Light bulbs, and nylons And plastic chandeliers Objects are only objects, They can't feel when you're near. And tangerine lips And lily-white breasts These things are eternal Inside them humanity rests. The skin is like a seashell You listen to the soul Like an old-time radio show. But under the gas lamp The air is thick and velvety Your bones filled with hunger Your heart filled with longing You're no longer human You're an insatiable hole. You wanna bury your face forever In the navel of her soul 'Cause you know ... All you need is a heart to call home That's all. But don't wander too far On one constant star Darkness exists, except where you are Your feet are filled with wandering They follow your own 'Cause everywhere you are Feels like home. So search all you miners You hunters of dreams Look in the alleyways For what you know is not what it seems And fame, all you maidens, It don't exist too long But at least look behind you And see your own shadow's gone Don't you know it's the last rodeo You gotta find yourself a cowboy Or someone to keep you Warm when it snows. But under the gas lamp The air is thick and velvety Your bones filled with hunger Your heart filled with longing You're no longer human You're an insatiable hole. You wanna bury your face forever In the navel of her soul 'Cause you know ... All you need is a heart to call home All you need is a heart All you need is a heart to call home That's all. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jan 1998 13:09:54 -0800 From: Tony Subject: NJC: Intro and such Hey, I guess it's time I introduce myself to the group :) Anyways, I'll start with my "Jewel story" I guess... So, I heard WWSYS on the radio back in '94 or '95; and I liked it, but I wasn't ready to run out and get the album just yet. A little bit after that, I tried to avoid the mainstream; so I stopped listening to the radio, but eventually I wanted to hear something new. So, I heard YWMFM one day, and I just took a double take when I heard it was by Jewel! This was at a time of my life when this song kind of applied, and I guess that's what made me really fond of it. So, within a week or two I went out to Best Buy and got POY. I loved it as soon as I heard it! I don't think it left my CD player for a week! Well, there ya go... And now some stuff about me, if anyone cares. I'm 15, I live in central Maryland, and some things I like to do are hang out with friends, listen to music, watch a good film now and then, play some instruments (synth/keyboard and guitar), and I'm into the ACLU and Amnesty Intl., etc. Also, I'm trying to get my Angel Food collection off the ground, so if anyone could help me out there, I'd be in your debt! :) I've got some tapes, but no Jewel unfortunately. Well, I must be taking up too much time, so thank you to all who read this whole thing. and if you ever wanna talk to me you can reach me on AOL Instant Messenger at Toneman88. Okay, take care all :) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jan 1998 10:07:22 -0700 (MST) From: K M Case Subject: SJC: EDA shirts and Top Albums of 1997 EDA's, Several people lately have been asking about the official EDA shirts (whether or not Phil "the T-shirt Guy" is still taking orders or not, I don't know), you can view the shirt design at "http:/www.cybercom.net/~pjk/EDA/index.html".
