Jewel will be doing several high profile TV appearances over the next two months & here's some details. First, regardless of rumors to the contrary, Jewel is still singing The National Anthem at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego during The Superbowl! This takes place on January 25th. She'll be singing the opening accapella. Then piano, cello, guitar and muted trumpet will back her as they build the song up to the fireworks and pomp that's during the pre-game show. The rehearsals take place on January 23rd & she'll be doing some national press on that day, so look for her on many news & informational shows. Jewel will be taping a NEW Rosie O'Donnell show on February 1st. This will air the following day on February 2nd. She'll also be performing on a NEW Tonight Show soon, but I haven't the exact date available yet. Will let you all know ASAP. Other things that I haven't yet officially announced are: January 26th- The 25th Annual American Music Awards, Los Angeles,CA February 25- The 40th Grammy Awards, NYC I'm not certain yet whether Jewel will perform at either of these major awards shows, but she will definately be attending. James Judd & I will be making the instructional announcements about "Future Folklore 3" within the next week. Stay tuned! ;-) Best wishes, MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jan 1998 10:45:00 -0800 From: "Mark A. Rogers" Subject: Jewel's poetry Hello EDAs!!! I have Jewel's original POY cover, I like her poems. I'm really amazed with the untitled poem: There is a pretty girl on the Face of the magazine And all I see is my dirty hands turning the page Little breasts attached to skinny ribs and hungry bellies determined legs; persuasive swing careful hands she stands a greater threat to herself than the cigarette she consumes Can anybody explain what Jewel is trying to say in this poem? Thanks in advance. The thread that arose long ago is answered....Jewel DOES dye her hair! I had a very strong feeling this was the case. Her earlier pics show her with darker hair. Anyway, for those newbie's on here, there was a small debate about this a few months back. Of course, I'm assuming she wouldn't be in an article about dying hair if she didn't dye her's. I have been on this list for about a week and a half now and I thought I would finally say hello and ask some questions. :-) First off, I saw a site that had a EDA shirt for this list and I wrote them about it and never heard a reply. It was a royal blue shirt and the back had the address for this newsgroup. I was wondering if this shirt is no longer being made of if anyone knows where you can get it. I am interested in angelfood but I can only make things even if you like Tori Amos as well. Email me for more info. Jewel was awesome on Letterman. I know it was a repeat but still... :-) ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^ Lara, the daisy angel http://come.to/daisy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jan 1998 15:02:58 -0500 From: "Matt Adler" Subject: Jewel in the new EW twice That's right, there are 2 blurbs about Jewel in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly with South Park and the X-Files Movie on the cover. The first blurbs says that Jewel getting paid $2 million for poetry might be a risk and the second one says that same about her new album. Thats it. Oh yea, and there is a small pic next to the first blurb.\ /\/\att /\dler the "Thespian" Angel http://www.geocities.com/hollywood/1030/jewel.htm ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jan 1998 16:42:32 EST From: Rolkdog Subject: guitar question Hello everyone After seeing Jewel's repeat performance on Letterman last night, I thought it was kinda funny how she doesn't know what to do with her free hand that isn't holding the microphone. She must be so used to having her guitar with her, so that's understandable, just looked a little funny. No big deal. Also, I have a general guitar question. I'm seriously looking into learning to play. Is any non-electric guitar referred to as an acoustic. I was wondering this when I was reading through the classified ads today of guitars for sale. Also, is $200 a good deal for a used guitar with a strap and case. Thanks. Later. Many do not. For those unaware, I've been on this list in various forms, under various names, for 9 or 10 months now. I've dealt with many wonderful Angels in that time. I've seen more unusual threads and read more eloquent ideas through smoe.org than I've unearthed on the rest of the net. I've seen the list reach the brink of destruction more than once, only to come back strong. I've seen far greater people than I unsubscribe for far greater reasons than I ever could. But that does not change the fact that, after this post, I will no longer be a part of the Jewel list/community. The time has come for me to move on. Through no fault of ANYONE on this list, it has lost for me the feeling it once had. I have changed. So I must now depart. There are those I will always remember: Mike, the Brothers Harris, Mr BB, Lora "love you till I split open and melt", Steph Kart, *PrincessEEK*, and many others.
