Last summer I thought someone said all >the summer programs would be released. I don't recall anything definitive from any official sources (i.e. MrBB or Jewel management), only the possibility that it *may* be released. However, I'm pretty convinced we won't see it out until after Jewel's next CD is released late in the summer/early fall. It doesn't make good business sense that they'd release a high quality recording that would likely include (as of yet) unreleased material from her next CD. (watch them make me look stupid now and release it next month ;) And Harris, if you read this, no wise-cracks....OK? :) > And has anyone heard when Jewel's show of "Austin City Limits" will be >broadcast? For whatever reason, doing the show didn't work out back when word of it first surfaced and MrBB reported that Lenedra (Jewel's mom, for the new) told him it was shelved until later. THe more and more I heard it, the more and more I loved it. SHortly afterwards the radio stations started playing FG alot, and I was hoOkEd. I had no idea that she had a CD all this time until I saw an ad for it tucked away in a corner of a CD store advertisement thingy. Well I got it, and I have to admit I was not impressed at all. I like WWSYS, but I liked the radio versions of FG and YWMFM a lot better, and the rest of the songs seemed very long and drawn out. But after a while (Boy, how many times have we heard THIS story!) I started to ike it more, and now its one of my favorite CD's, and I listen to it constantly. Now part two of this insanley huge post... I was surfing the web late one summer night (heh the next summer after I discovered Jewel) and I came across this Mailing list thing. It looked halfway interesting, so I went through the joining process and was amazed at all of the mail I get everyday! This list truly is something else. You can give your adresses to other people and stuff like that to trade angelfood and stuff and its perfectly safe. And now I've been on it for, oh, about 4 months now. Well thanks for sitting through that long post! <--Richard--> I WILL get a name someday.... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jan 1998 18:34:22 EST From: JonBoy911 Subject: Re: NJC: Poetry Project All right All Right!!!!!! It stated something about GP, and SP, being the big thing this year, when the albums come out of course! It also said that people should consider it a privelage to hear GP. This was a good article. If you wanna check it out, sign up for a membership (it's free) at the UT's webby http://www.union-tribune.com=20 look up the archives, and put in the box "Steve Poltz, Gregory Page" this will also give you any passed articles. it's a good thing! love ya. Johnson" Subject: How I became infatuated with Jewel NOTE: There is one meaningful part to this message, and for those in a hurry, I have marked it with ** I was reading everyone elses descriptions of how they became fans of the Precious One (get it, precious...Jewel, hehehe, ok guess it isn't that original), and started thinking (usually it ends up getting me into trouble, but I decided to risk it anyways) "Wow, a this is what a thread on Jewel's fan-mailing-list should be like". (Not that I am against other threads, even if they have nothing to do with Miss Kilcher, as long as they are meaningful, but some of the recent ones have been not-so-good) So I decided to add my own. Here goes (I'll try to make it short): I spent alot of time sitting around being bored out of my mind last summer (way too much, even though I did have a job and everything), so I took up the habit of watching MTV and VH1. I saw the videos for WWSYS and YWMFM (of coursed, I didn't call them by their acronyms back then :o) ) and I think her Hard Rock Live. I didn't really think anything about them at the time. (my sister had gotten a tape of PoY before that, but I never heard any of it because her room is upstairs and I never went up there). Anyways, I got a letter from Columbia House saying that they would give me like 15 CDs for the price of 1 (without S&H even). So I decided "What the heck". (of course, I forgot to read the part about being required to buy 5 overly priced CDs after that but oh well, sometimes it be that way :o) ). Anyways, I ended up picking out PoY just to fill out the group (sounds really degrading now, but it ended up being the only one of the group that ever gets played now). Well, I listened to it off and on, and then one night I was really bored (remember, it was my hobby that summer), so I threw a Cd (which happened to be PoY) into my CD-ROM drive and decided to surf the web. (NOTE: I now no longer "throw" the CD into the player, but place it lovingly in, if it ever leaves at all (sometimes I listen to the Jewel singles that I have) :o) ). Anyways, after a while, I ran out of topics to put into the search engine, so I put in "Jewel". I found some cool websites and RealAudio files, and eventually ended up signing on to this list. Then somehow, over the next couple months, I became the person I am today, with a Jewel shrine and 30 or so pieces of Angelfood. OK, I obviously failed in trying to make it short. Here is the one thing that is semi-meaningful-to-the-rest-of-the-list: ** From reading the other posts on this subject, I have come to the conclusion ** that, unlike all those groups and people that explode into popularity, Jewel ** seems to grow on people gradually. Hopefully that means that she will ** continue her success, and not end up fading away into oblivion like all of ** those "one-hit/one-album" wonders. Oh, if you have read this far, then you deserve something. I will be happy to make copies of my Angelfood for you.
