A few weeks ago my friend, Priscilla finally posted to this list the lyrics to Without you by my side, and they were corrected (at last!) on Gerrit's page. I am writing this in hopes that it might reoccur. It's kindof dedicated to Priscilla for a marvelous idea.=) Been Down So Long by: Jewel Kilcher The sun sets across the ocean I'm a thousand miles from anywhere my pocketbook, and my heart both just got stolen and the sun acts like she don't even care the wind blows cold when you reach the top feels like somebody's face is stuck to the bottom of my shoe. I gotta plastic Jesus, and a cordless telephone for every corner of my room Got everybody but you telling me what to do ****CHORUS**** Well, I've been down so long it can't be that much longer still I've been down so long that the end must be drawing near **** I looked to everybody but me to answer my prayers until I saw an angel in the bathroom who said she didn't see nobody worth saving anywhere and the blind man on the corner said, "It's simple-like flipping a coin don't matter which side it lands on as long as it's somebody else's dime" Cuz whether you're on the top or the bottom it all feels the same. It all feels the same We all live out of fear that we're too rich or we're too poor guess all I can do is muster up some spare change and a little bit of faith and take some dignity with me as I walk through this door. ****CHORUS**** Gonna take a trip, catch a train, got my ticket in my hand, and then a fat man takes my money and like cattle we all stand I'm just a ffaceless body lost in this vast and worthless sea with a thousand people I do not know but really they are no different from me they all have passion they all have fear they all have intense confusion no sweet moments that are clear they all have aspirations, high hopes, and dreams, and really they are alone, like me Cuz we've been down so long it can't be that much longer still and we've been down so long the end must be, oh the end must be, the end must be drawing near...yeah well, that's it for that. Next, recently there have been a great many requests for angelfood, and I have made many posts saying I'll give it to anyone, so NEWBIES e-mail me, if you want some. I'm also interested in trading, so e-mail me your list. Well, I am back at home, and so happy to be here! I have never realized what a convenience freedom can be!! And health! Here's to our health and freedom!! "HERE. HERE!" With the worst of my illness passing, the flu epidemic hasnt been helping much, since sickness can do quite a job on the immune system. But oh well! There are much worse things that could be happening to me, right? Why let a touch of the flu bring me down? Looking over the past 20 digests or so, I am seeing a pattern of these funny "Jewel is mean" posts. I am wondering if I am the only one who sees tons and tons of posts about why Jewel is not a meanie, but no posts of someone ACTUALLY saying Jewel is this mean awful person. Maybe I missed that post or something, but I find this all so funny. Someone can come onto the list and make a comment, and send the whole list into an uproar. I assume this is all because of the lack of Jewel activity here in America. . . but come one guys, HELLO??? I have been an EDA for a long time, and all I see is this stuff happening over and over and over. . . Guys, remember WE ARE EVERY DAY ANGELS. . . well BE CAREFUL WITH ME CUZ I'D LIKE TO STAY THAT WAY! I am becoming so discouraged, and altho this list and group had become very special and close to my heart, I am considering switching to the News only list. Why should I hear all these people complain about Jewel not being mean? What is the point? *SIGH* I hope I will not have to switch. Well, because of the Angelfood demand, I am wondering if anyone would like my help, or would more like to trade. I am SO BORED with my little 18 or so tape collection, I really need something new! Hey guys keep in touch, keep the hope, and keep the faith. I know you can do it. First the good news I recently got The German Imports of the FG single and the YWMFM single, and the Japanese import of POY. I love them they're all great. I'm still on a hunt for Save the linoleum and Phyllis Barnabee....however. Now the bad news I cannot offer to make copies of them though because I don't have a tape player to record on. Sorry Guys:o( Is there anyone out there that can explain to me what the song Emily is about? I love the song but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I have some news that I see as amazing. I have told some of you what this is, and others, well, today is your day to find out. =) I wanted to keep this secret, but I guess I am too excited to keep it low-key. i learned on monday, a week ago, that I am going to be published! This poet with whom I have been in contact, Padma Thornlyre, is editing his own anthology of poetry & art, and he has invited me as a member of a select group of artists & writers to contribute to the anthology, titled "The Mad Blood Anthology." My official invitation will be coming to me at some point this month. I am so excited! 9 whole pages of *my* work, *my* creation, *my* art, *my* soul, *my* dream, will be published! Now I have a hard task ahead of me...I have to choose what I consider my best 30 pages of poetry to send to him so he can choose the best 9 to publish! I see this as a DAMN lucky break. I am DAMn lucky that I joined the POE email list, and I am damn lucky that I decided to post an occasional poem, and I am damn lucky that Padma was intrigued enough by what I submitted to email me and to begin a correspondence which has been revealing itself as a guide in my life...he has been helping me learn ways to fine tune old poems of mine and what to look for in the fine tuning process. And he has, somewhere in the middle of all this, become a fan of my somewhat unpolished poetry (he says as much in every email to me). How did all this happen, exactly? How did I get...a fan...? Odd concept...VERY VERY VERY odd concept, one that perplexes me...wow...I have a fan... Anyways, I wanted to share all my good news with you. I feel like I owe this lucky break to all of you...you are the ones who had the strength to love me and to care. You are the ones who believe in me. It is through your strength and your love and your support that I gain the courage to live my life...day by day...deliberately...passionately. The vehicle with which you have all provided me has gotten me so far...has gotten me *THIS* far...and hell, *I* have worked too hard in my life to sit there and think that I do not know where I am and how far I have come. I feel like this is your accomplishment. Like I am the one who should be saluting all of you instead of sitting here babbling to all of you. Thank you for never forgetting me, another one of "the little people," in your lives and in your souls. I went to Woodstock on Saturday (being that I live about 30 min away...too bad I was only 13 when Jewel played her residency tour there...and I didn't know about this list or the concert at the time of Jewelstock) and when I was there I went to Taco Juan's (for any of you familiar with Woodstock-- and if you ever visit...go to Taco Juan's - it's excellent) and on the wall were two original pictures of Jewel during a performance at Tinker Street. They were also selling t-shirts with copies of the pics for $20 (overpriced in my opinion...so I didn't buy one.) I then went and did a silent prayer to the Jewel gods at Tinker Street cafe and prayed for her to come back so I could see her there. Maybe she'll finish recording her new album in Bearsville...ah, lost opportunities. Anyway....I just thought it was interesting. bye bye, Sarah ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V3 #12 **************************
